Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, but also windy with wet pavements as well here in Brackley this morning.
Today, my usual trip out to Bicester via Buckingham and then straight back, small shop and a coffee .
Today Cycling wise the Vuelta starts in Spain ,and its the start of the final week of the Giro , I can watch both races simultaneously on TV as they do cut into the races at key moments .
Take Care,
Mick
Good afternoon Maw, nice to see you.
How is Hattie?
Of course there’s no rivalry to be first Mariella
Some of us are still firmly in the Land of Nod ? ? when the first posts arrive.
We look forward to Mick starting this friendly and uncontentious thread, contribute as much or as little as we wish to share about our planned activities and hear what the weather is like in other parts of the country.
It helps to “picture” other posters and forms a point of contact with the outside world, especially for those living alone.
In the event of unusual absence by a regular contributor it can also flag up concerns about his or her well being.
Long live the Good Morning thread!
Feelingmyage55, what a good idea thankyou. My inspirations etc have gone West I'm afraid
I'd hate to see the poor plant vanish now. I'm thrilled with it.
There is no rivalry here mariella, just friendly, supportive people. Some naturally wake early, others later. It matters not. It’s a lovely thread whether you join it or just read it. ?

Good morning, everyone. A grey day in Forth Valley and I am fair scunnered. But wait, it is brightening up and so will I.
EV the birds gifted me a holly bush some years ago. It is about 10 feet tall now and now has lovely berries for Christmas decorations. Thank you, birds.
Oh dear..... ...this good morning at 6 am sh every day reminds me of a care home where the residents compete to be first in their chair in the tv room every morning .......
EllanVannin. Can you find a stick to mark the holly tree and put a coloured piece of fabric round the top to warn the s trimmer off. Holly trees are so slow growing it deserves tlc.
Well a different morning for us this morning! DH and I took both our cars ( to Different garages) for servicing about 20 miles away in a carefully timed operation. Picked up a courtesy car and was intending to go back this afternoon to pick the cars up, but just had a call to say mine won’t be ready (problem with the locking). Means we can have a walk with the grandchildren after school now on this beautiful autumn day!
Hope the locking problem isn’t too expensive!
Granmasue. ?.
Good morning from a grey, wet north of Scotland where the tree colours seem luminous despite the gloom. I have just spent ages trying to make up an online delivery for myself and neighbour. Many staple item are unavailable in the cheaper choice and/or limited. I am baffled as to why, as the delivery comes from a gigantic supermarket which in normal times, I would not visit as it is just too big. I also have to remember where the car is.
Flu jab tomorrow as I missed last week but I have been reassured that it is safe and efficient. Need to try to remember to have it in my left arm.
I have managed to pick some more brambles this morning and got very, cold and wet. Came home to tea and a warm Danish pastry. Maybe I won’t strip the tomato plants today after all. Jam boiling and pickle making On the same day might be too much excitement.
Glad to hear that some folk are getting the necessary medical attention, keep trying to the others. Have the best day you can everyone.
Good Morning All x
Cloudy, damp and sunny in between but it's not cold.
Must sort the flowers out today, which have done very well for nearly 3 weeks. I think I might be able to salvage enough of them for one vase from the two that they've been in. I was ready to do this yesterday when I got a phone-call from a friend so that was that. We had a lovely long chat though, 58 minutes of it.
I intend to go to Asda at some point today as I need a few items that they don't stock locally as well as a good supply of cat food, which also is a £1 a box cheaper, though I don't save really as I get a taxi rather than the bus but it's that breakaway from being stuck in that's worth more and it's a couple of hours well spent.
I'm just looking out at my little holly tree which is now about a foot high. Fortunately and conveniently it's growing in a border but where it came from I don't know. Birds I expect but it's obviously taken a while to germinate. I must point it out to the grasscutters not to slice it with their strimmer or I'll go mad.
I'm multi-tasking here because the weather's picked up I've been on the hunt for a " dark wash " to get it on the line, in between I've got washed and dressed and breakfasted and have now sat down with a coffee to finish this post before the morning's gone. Phew, that's livened me up.
Hoping that tests work out well for those undergoing them and that everyone's not feeling too bad. Thoughts as usual to our absent friends and would hope to see you all soon, just a " hi and bye " will do for starters to show that you're still in the land of the living.xx
Take care and stay safe everyone.
PS, no morning newspaper---yet again. Hope it hasn't gone through the wrong letterbox, gormless article.
No apologies needed as far as I’m concerned Grandmasue as I thought your post was a really lovely read.
?
Had another quick read with my coffee, fabulous cookies Bellasnana, glad your worry about your daughter is over, and sincere sympathy to you Grandmasue, your post is heartfelt.
Good Morning all , raining solidly here , I need to go to the wee shop round the corner but can’t be bothered
Sad funeral shortly so all the village will be at the doors to pay our respects
Good Morning all from Sunny Harrogate - The sheets are i the washer, so hope my optimism isn't dashed!!
Hope you got your order out Scentia - getting up at 4 am isn't my idea of fun!!
Just mixed a dairy free pastry ready to continue DH's dairy free diet. Not sure if I want it to be the cause of his cough or not. If it works, then he will be cough free, but I will have to continue making everything dairy free!!! He has to wait til January to see the respiratory clinic at the hospital - too long!
Keep safe and well everyone
Bellasnana those cookies are amazing. How talented your DD is.
Good morning Mick and one and all from Sunny Side, West Lancashire. Flu jab today as I missed last one with a tummy bug. Bang in the night so had a look round, think it was something dropping off my neighbour’s building work. Am too late to bed anyway, reading, tv and catching up on Gransnet, which if I read EVERYTHING, takes yonks lol. V interesting though.
I do dislike the gloom which descends on me in the morning when I realise this deadening situation, even with sensible house plans to occupy me. Takes my motivation away. My sister was due from the south for a few days, but now in high risk so that’s gone, along with a day coach trip.
But mustn’t complain listening to self employed callers whose businesses have gone down the pan and no support.
Thoughts with all having a worrying time.
So pleased your daughter's op went well Bellasnana - those biscuits look delicious.
Good morning Mick and all who follow. A bright sunny day today here near Manchester.
I'm up earlyish today as I have a zoom meeting with friends early this afternoon. We used to meet up for lunch quite regularly but haven't been able to do this for months. We all taught at the same school so we are not without intelligence. However organising the zoom meeting has taken a week. It's been like herding cats! I'm the last one of us (only 5 of us altogether) to get my pension. I qualify tomorrow on my birthday, at last! I hoped this is not an indication of what is to come with regards to technology. I don't think it will as I use my PC and/or tablet and mobile devices daily.
Tomorrow will be bitter sweet as it will be the first one without my younger brother, who died earlier this year and who used to get me something Monkee related as I was a huge fan of the group. He always got me 4 candles at Christmasas as well, which always made us laugh. We're had Bring Me Sunshine played at his funeral a he always did.
I enjoy reading this lovely thread each morning and miss the posters who are not here for one reason or another. I hope everyone has a good and peaceful day and stays safe. ⚘⚘
Apologies for the long post!
Good morning everyone, grey and breezy here in the Gower today.
Wales is having a two week "fire break" from Friday and I'm expecting a shielding letter again ?. Still, I have a few days of free(ish)dom until then so.... choices, choices about what to do to make the most of them, apart from stocking up the groceries that is! I do have vouchers to spend that I've had since Christmas and Easter so... ?, that's one trip out anyway ☺️. May pop into the garden centre for an afternoon tea and a browse to see if there is anything I can buy for 2 of my great nephews who have birthdays coming up shortly after the fire break ends.
Pleased to hear that your DD's operation was a success Bellasnana, I hope she recovers quickly.
I'm really sorry to hear that the pain in your back has got worse Sar. Back issues can take a while to resolve if we don't go gently with ourselves. Go gently ?
It'll be good to have the absentees back so hope to see you soon Maw and you too gillybob when you are ready to return.
? for all the goodmorningers feeling down, poorly or just plain fed up with the way things are at the moment.
Be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️
Good morning from a very wet County Durham. I'm so pleased we got out and about yesterday with GD2. We visited Middleham Castle ( I must admit I feel much safer on EH sites than most places). Little one enjoyed clambering and jumping over the stones, and being spooked by dark passages.
On a more worrying note I have been unable to get in touch with BIL who is currently in hospital suffering from covid. He has always replied so promptly so this is out of the ordinary. He has been in ICU on oxygen. Now I am fearing worse. Fingers crossed I hear news to the contrary today. Oh how I wish I had asked for his sister's number.
I haven't had time to read all your posts today but will attempt to keep up between the demands of little GD today.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning
There's a little bit of blue in the sky and the sun keeps trying to come out but the cloud keeps covering it over. It's rained through the night but is dry now as Greyduster says.
Not a lot planned other than some ironing. I've got another futurelearn course that started yesterday, so will do some of that too.
Keep safe all.
Fleas?? Flesh!
I know about pescatarians, but having mentioned that we (him really) have been overloading on fleas, perhaps being veggie for a couple of weeks would do no harm. But... he finds it hard having been brought up as a “meat and 2 veg“ sort of bloke.
DD and family are strict veggies so we are familiar with the concept.
Thank you for all your kind wishes for DD1. I thought you might like to see some of the cookies DD2 made to cheer her sister up a bit. She makes some lovely designer cakes, and cookies which she ships all over the US. These will be travelling from Florida to Washington DC.?
