Hi all,
I am wearing the attached dress on Christmas day, with ankle boots, 100 denier black tights, a decorative belt and a shoulder bag. I hadn't thought about a jacket but I now wonder if I should have a jacket or wrap or something. What do you think?
Best wishes,
FH x

Sadly I don't think I will be with my family for Christmas, I have not been inside DD's house since before lockdown. Cannot imagine sitting outside in December!

That outfit sounds suitable for Halloween too.

This may have something to do with it Notinthemanual :
“Do not meet people from any other households in your home or another person’s home socially, unless they are in your extended household.”

Good for you on the dress and sticking up for yourself. FlyingHxndbag The gilet idea was great. I think you're going to look great. I know you're going to feel great.

I'm relatively new to GN and sometimes do not share the opinion voiced in a post or have no interest in a question posed, sometimes I strongly dislike what has been posted. But I've never felt the need to lash out.

How can a complete strangers' fashion sense get so many women hot under their buttoned down collars?

Come on ladies, I don't believe for one minute you'd be so caustic if FlyingHxndbag was standing in front of you, which I believe is referred to in GN guidelines (how this thing is supposed to be done.)

Did you tell us you were in your 50 s Flying?

I like the boots but don’t fall off them you know you are a bit of a faller

That’s a gillet over here gmarie

Marydoll Fri 23-Oct-20 07:19:23

FH, you will need more than a vest if no visitors allowed at Christmas.

gmarie Fri 23-Oct-20 07:11:35

I was so confused when I started reading this thread and saw suggestions for a vest. These are vests in the US. grin

Is this a Pretty Little Thing dress?
If I was the right shape to wear a body-con I'd not want to spoil the effect with a gillet or jumper etc. I think I'd treat myself to some bright chunky bangles if I had spare cash and maybe a scarf.
... I like these actually: tikibrighton.com/collections/tiki-designs/bangles

Nothing wrong with the thread at all.
YET.

rafichagran Fri 23-Oct-20 01:03:49

Whilst I think this thread is a wind up, I think the Tampax comment was quite unpleasant.

Kalu Fri 23-Oct-20 00:40:06

Sorry, but I do think that particular dress is tarty. Far too revealing for decency.
Not a style either of my DDs would wear so I can’t give you any advice as to what accessories would be appropriate.

Marydoll Fri 23-Oct-20 00:23:50

Hetty oh you are sharp!!! ?

Hetty58 Fri 23-Oct-20 00:12:58

Marydoll, problem solved - a digital Christmas, chatting on Zoom, only needs a top!

MissAdventure Thu 22-Oct-20 23:57:58

Not very pleasant comment.

I know I’m not too optimistic either but we can still hope, it seems more important to some people than others. My family are overseas so I know for us it will definitely be a digital Christmas.

Mapleleaf Thu 22-Oct-20 23:32:33

I hope you are right BlueSky, but I’m not feeling that optimistic about it, the way things are going.

Marydoll Thu 22-Oct-20 23:32:18

So why is Jason Leitch advising otherwise? Why say it if you mean the opposite? Not very professional in my opinion.
Are you aware how high the figures are in Glasgow at present? They are high because people aren't following the regulations. ?
No- one is allowed in another household at all!

BlueSky Thu 22-Oct-20 23:27:46

Marydoll things might still change with a bit of luck and people will be allowed to meet (some) family for Christmas. ?

Marydoll Thu 22-Oct-20 23:22:16

FH, as you live near Glasgow, surely you know that Jason Leitch has today, unfortunately advised usthat we will probably be having a digital Christmas. Sadly, no visiting of relatives allowed.☹️

MissAdventure Thu 22-Oct-20 23:19:17

I suppose it depends on the size of the family, amongst other factors.

Mapleleaf Thu 22-Oct-20 23:16:09

I think FH said in another post MissAdventure that she was spending Christmas Day with all her family together, having one happy family party. Meanwhile, the rest of us will probably be mixing with no one ‘cos we won’t be allowed.

Grandmafrench Thu 22-Oct-20 23:13:26

Marydoll

*Grandmafrench*, may suggest you add some Gaviscon to your stash! You will probably need it!?

Thanks Mary, you're so thoughtful - and still on duty? I promise to take loads and loads and be back same time tomorrow whining about constipation.

FlyingHxndbag Thu 22-Oct-20 23:11:15

I'm going to see some relatives. X

MissAdventure Thu 22-Oct-20 23:08:45

Are you going anywhere for christmas, so you can swan around in your dress?
I suppose the virus means nobody knows exactly what their plans are.
