I love them so much I actually have 3 of them. DH asked what I'd like for Christmas and I said I'd maybe like one in navy. He then tells me he actually doesn't like my big pom pom wooly hats and said they are made for people in their teens. What do you think?

A lot of people in our village wear them, specially made to raise funds in aid of a charity set up in memory of a local 15-year-old who died in his sleep.

I’ve just actually ordered one off m&s to wear at work!

Spangler I too have a fedora, the only hat I wear and that’s rarely. Used to wear to the races, sometimes with a faux fur jacket.

Why in earth would a hat be for a certain age group lol. I wear these hats too. You were it and enjoy ?

I have a lovely cashmere one with a faux pompon. Love it. Who cares what people think, do/wear what makes you feel good.

I remember making pom poms in class when about aged 6
Using a bit of card.

I was reading some of the thread out here in amazement that a post about pompom hats got 5 pages, smile and have been informed that the purpose of the pompom was to make them easy to pull off without pulling hair, especially is wearing warm knitted mittens too. So pompoms are practical!

I was wondering what to do today. Think I’ll dig out the loom knitter and knit a lovely woolly hat.

I had a bash at learning to crochet and made a navy hat, then decided it needed a decent pom. So pleased with my new pom making skills, I made another and stuck it on. I wear my hat with pride haha. If I look in the mirror and like what I see, I wear it. So, remind your husband that it's okay that he doesn't like your hat, he doesn't have to wear it!

I have several. I love woolly hats of all kinds, with or without pom poms. So there!

DotMH1901 Sun 25-Oct-20 09:44:57

I have never found a hat that suited me - my daughter usually goes into hysterics whenever I try one on. Hard not to be envious of those with a 'face' for hats of whatever description smile My only option seems to be a snood! If you love your hat(s) then wear them with pride I say.

I think you should wear what you want regardless of what anyone thinks, but for me I’m not a fan of Pom Pom hats, I wouldn’t wear one,

SusieFlo Sun 25-Oct-20 09:39:37

They seem quite normal to me! I don’t have one but think I may get one!

Joesoap Sun 25-Oct-20 09:36:33

If you love them wear them.We live in Sweden and these became popular a few years ago, and are still popular with all ages, mind you they really need head covering all winter here pom poms and all.

Cambia Sun 25-Oct-20 09:29:43

The whole point of being our age is to wear what you want and not give a damn!

If you like it, wear it. It gives you pleasure and that is all that matters. People worry far too much about what others say and think. Just go with what you like!

I find that a beanie, a tam o'shanter or woolly bobble hat don't cover my ears, which is the bit that gets coldest. So I just wear ear muffs or a knitted headband.

The best thing about them is I can wear my sleep headphones (which are in a similar, thinner, headband) underneath.

You knitted that quickly River ?

EthelTheTank Sat 24-Oct-20 21:28:48

What a lovely tank hat that is!

This might suit

Nice one MawB. I love hats of all kinds. My DGD has a huge yellow beret in which she looks spectacular. Possibly because she’s only 5.

Each to their own. I like them, personally and have two.
Well said Mapleleaf.

Goodness no Chewy. Your pic. is that of a wooden cloche hat, a style which hasn’t been worn since the 30’s.
Maybe so, but what a style.

Can't say that I have a woollen hat with pom-poms, but I do have a dozen or more fedoras. I am that prat in the hat.

Ethel (O.P) I adore the warm pom-pom hats, keep on wearing them as long as you like them that's what it is about.

I took my large bag of hats out of the cupboard a few days ago, I have lots of them. Mine have mostly got one large fluffy bobble at the top. On a day like today where I am it is dismal and cold and blowing a gale so my warm hat and scarf are toastie and warm going out doors. As long as I like to wear them then what people say doesn't bother me.

Your post at 09.39 made me smile, Riverwalk ?. They are nice, aren’t they? ???(not).
I often wonder what the models think when they are parading some of the fashions the designers come up with. (I suppose they think “oh well, at least I’m getting paid for doing this”) ?
