Women' Institute - would I be welcome if I don't make cakes?!

You don’t need any special skills at all to join and enjoy the WI.
The social aspect is great and there are speakers on all sorts of subjects.
You can usually have up to two free meetings, to get a taste of it.Although once you become a member you pay annually, you don’t have to show up at every monthly meeting.
It’s a good way to make friends, but do give it time and a bit of patience as it’s hard to judge on just a few meetings.

Sadly, none of the Womens' Institutes who have invited me to join, have ever made cakes or jam. Indeed they emphasis that they don't.
I am not a member, I occasionally attend interesting talks at the WI , whilst remembering NOT to talk about the cakes and jam that I make.
I have heard of one or to who still do make cakes and jam, but they seem easy to avoid.

I would like to try out the WI (once meetings start up again). I don't make cakes (not edible ones anyway) and I don't make jam. Do you have to possess a particular skill for them to accept you? I am artistic and can arrange flowers...! Thinking of joining more for the social aspect.
