soop thanks for the photo. You are still looking a little pale ?.
Seriously, I hope you make a good recovery. Sorry the op wasn’t able to be completed properly. I know you will be given the best care at home from the lovely MacSporran.

Flora welcome. The kitchen is a lovely place to be.
TOYA (thinking of you all) ?

GrannyGravy13 Sun 29-Nov-20 20:49:37

soop please rest and do not fret about anything thanks

Urmstongran Sun 29-Nov-20 20:11:56

Me too soop. You’ve been through the wringer by the sounds of it. I hope every passing day gets you closer to good health. The restorative properties of a good night’s sleep cannot be over estimated. x

Sar53 Sun 29-Nov-20 20:11:03

I don't often post in the kitchen but read every day. My best wishes to you Soop. Take it easy, rest up and let your special DH take care of you ? xx

Sorry to have missed you “popping in” the kitchen.
Much love ? for the very best recovery. Take your time, it matters not how long you need to rest. You will get there X

cornergran Sun 29-Nov-20 19:47:12

Good to hear from you soop, lovely though it was please think about yourself and stay comfortably resting, let your body mend for a while. I do understand you may be thinking enough is enough now. It’s your choice, take your time, no rush to decide. Fern sounds as if she’s getting to be at home, I can see your smile from here.

Hello Flora, you’re very welcome, this is indeed a very friendly place.

Very little has occurred in corner-land today. Feeling very lethargic, must do better tomorrow

Take care everyone. TOYA.

Lovely to hear from you soop, I hope that whatever has been done surgically will help you enormously and give you a far better quality of life. Rest now with MacSporran and Fern.

ixion Sun 29-Nov-20 19:38:14

Dear soop, please don't worry about the state of the walls!
My first introduction to what is disarmingly called 'bowel prep' was as a student nurse on my first ward placement and, in cleaning the walls, I learnt so much about understanding and empathy towards those in our care. A lesson I carried with me throughout my career.
Please take care, and I wish you the very best for your recovery!

NanaandGrampy Sun 29-Nov-20 19:24:14

Evening all,

Glad to hear from you Soop , enjoy being waited on for a little bit - you need it .

So sorry to hear of your loss Grammeretto , very sad for you xx

Susan56 Sun 29-Nov-20 19:10:33

Thank you for popping in to let us know how you are soop.
Please rest now?

Fennel Sun 29-Nov-20 18:34:38

Oh soop poor you.
Not much comfort for you, but I had the a similar experience , but after my op.
I was back home and felt nauseous so went back to A&E Where my intestines finally cleared in the toilets. I was re-admitted for 5 days and given antibiotics.
I felt so sorry for the cleaners, sent them a card.
You'll get there in the end!

Charleygirl5 Sun 29-Nov-20 18:33:39

Welcome, Flora. Yes, soop has been through the wars very recently. So pleased to see she is back in her own home and Fern has almost moved in. She would be very foolish to think about moving elsewhere.

soop please just take your time there is no point overdoing it. I do hope you will notice some improvement but I understand what you say about age and future surgery. You have been missed.

kittylester Sun 29-Nov-20 18:30:33

soop, thank you for the update. Now please take it easy.

annodomini Sun 29-Nov-20 18:29:07

Hello Flora5, welcome to the kitchen. Yes, we are a friendly bunch and the kitchen always expands to include newcomers, especially if bearing cakes and other goodies!

Flora5 Sun 29-Nov-20 18:23:10

Hello you all seem like a friendly bunch , I'm new here , can I join you ?
Have back read a few posts and understand Soop is recuperating with MacSporran as her butler. Hope all gets better for you soon.
I have 'messed up' a few game threads by mistake so may get booted out .....hope not smile

BladeAnnie Sun 29-Nov-20 18:18:52

Just look after yourself Soop x

eilyann Sun 29-Nov-20 18:10:25

dear Soop So sorry I have been away but hope you are taking it VERY easy and recuperating. flowers

annodomini Sun 29-Nov-20 18:03:14

Thank you for letting us know how you are, soop. I can imagine that you are feeling just a bit let down. Once you are back to feeling more like yourself and can think it all through clearly you will be able to have a constructive discussion with your surgeon. Meanwhile, your body is telling you to "ca' canny" and let healing take place. Really pleased that Fern has decided to adopt your territory as her own. She knows on which side her bread is buttered! ?

soop Sun 29-Nov-20 17:42:41

I have missed you lot more than words can say.
I have been given permission to pop in very briefly to say a huge thank you for ALL your messages. I'm sorry but I haven't properly caught up and sense that it will be some time before I'm back on track.
Truth of the matter is - my body has been under assault good and proper. I am gradually feeling less nauseous and the swelling in my nethers is nowhere near as bad as it was. I shall be bleeding for a wee while yet. Par for the course.
The staff on ward five of Oban hospital were absolute angels. I was very well cared for. After two jugs of laxative, I found myself pressing the red button in the bathroom. The first time, I was stripped of all my outer gear and the clothing bundled into an orange sack. I was then moved to my own room. No sooner settled in when I realised that I was about to have an almighty accident. Made it into the bathroom but through my nightclothes and all over the floor, up the walls and under the door, the enema made it's presence felt. I was put under the shower and three staff cleaned the bathroom as I wept with shame.
The intended surgery was not completed, but the lovely surgeon explained that she carried out three repairs and will see me in six weeks time to discuss whatever more needs to be done. Truth of the matter is, I honestly feel that I've put my body through more than enough. I'm too old for all this poking/pulling/prodding and, if I can continue to cope as best I can, that I shall have to settle for as much.
MacSporran is marvelous and I am beyond grateful for his love.
Fern is becoming more at ease. She enjoys her food and spends a long time in the den or wandering through the copse and exploring her personal territory.
I am sorry that I cannot read every message. I shall do better as the days pass. That is a promise.
A photo to make your smile.
Farewell until the nest time. Virtual hugs for every one of you. smile moon

Condolences, grammaretto. I just heard. All good wishes at this difficult time.

Baggs Sun 29-Nov-20 17:21:19

Izabella I made a cornflake tart (à la favourite school pudding) today based on a recipe by Olivia Potts. It's really good.

I used wholewheat flakes rather than standard cornflakes but it worked just as well.

cornergran Sun 29-Nov-20 15:37:25

My condolences grammaretto, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Hope you’re still resting soop, it’s a time to just settle down and be comfortable

TOYA.

Izabella Sun 29-Nov-20 15:36:11

grammeretto apologies but I missed your sad news earlier. Please accept my apologies and may you find strength I. The coming weeks.

Grandmabatty Sun 29-Nov-20 15:17:39

grannygravy that'll be the first mince pie of the season. Thank you Marydoll for your update on Soop. I hope she continues to take it easy. Izabella what a beautiful post. Very atmospheric. I'm watching crows flying around the big tree across the road. I have been very busy today. Lots of housework and ironing. I've even washed cushion covers ready for putting up the christmas decorations next weekend. Have a good afternoon all.
