When my sister and I were young, we had a white mouse as a pet. He must have injured his spine in the wheel thingy. We boarded the number 21 bus from Weston Favell to Derngate bus station in Northampton. We went to the vet, with our pet. The vet confirmed that our mouse had broken his spine and needed to be put "to sleep". We offered the vet 2/6d (all that we had) and said, he didn't need payment. We cried all the way home and for a long time thereafter.

... I decided to speak to June the following day about the strange events that had happened to me. She said that no one would teach for long in the depute's classroom. They would hear strange noises and chairs and desks would be moved. Once, papers slid onto the floor and blew around, although windows were closed. Excitedly I explained I had seen the ghost of the depute. June's face grew grave. She said, " Be careful. Those who have seen him, have had nasty accidents." She would say no more.

Hill Street was our favourite programme back then grandmabatty. It gets lots of sighs from the family, they’ve been hearing it a lot since March .

I drove the car twice around the block after my trip to Waitrose and the heavens opened. It was really too awful to drive but naturally in London where would I find a quiet parking space to sit there for 10 minutes or so? Anyway, I arrived home safely and Tara is home having rested her eyes.

Evening All. A more interesting day than anticipated in corner-land culminated in us getting soaked this afternoon. The sun was shining when we ventured forth. Where did it go? Delighted to report no discomfort from the dental procedure. Phew.

I’m sorry about your friend ann, I think that sort of news is harder when we can’t be with the person.

Ours also had. a hamster, another Hammie. Asda is a great name Susan He came after our much loved dog had left us. I was insistent we’d not get another dog, of course we did. Suffice to say the puppy and the hamster were not friends.

A step forward for macs today soop, sounds like lots of cake is needed. Ted has such a happy face, thank you for sharing his photo. .

My children had a hamster who, in the way of these things soon became mine.
He was named with great originality Hammie.

I loved that little creature to bits and when he died quite suddenly at about two and a half, I think I mourned him most
One morning I noticed his food dish was still full, we watched the cage for several hours and then my H carefully lifted his bedding bundle out.
He looked just fast asleep curled up in the middle of it.

I hope your GC gets pleasure out of him.

Great news, soop! Not so good re the oscopy but as lots of people have said, Good Old NHS. DH has had his fair share of care from the nhs recently and all in a timely manner.

... Apparently the depute head and his wife had died from gas poisoning. I was shocked and explained to my colleague what I had seen. She nodded, as if this was something she had heard before and told me to talk to June. She had inherited the depute's classroom after no one would teach in it for long.

Ann, sorry for the news about your friend?

As you say soop thank you NHS.Our daughter is getting better by the day thanks to the speed with which she received emergency treatment.Matilda is back home and we are hoping for a few quiet days before a hectic week next week.

Our younger daughters in laws are having to isolate for 14 days which means two 4.30 starts for us next week to look after B.He is a joy to look after but the drive is tiring.

In lighter hearted news,our younger daughter bought a hamster cage in the charity shop this morning.Naturally she then had to buy a hamster!B has named him ASDA and will not change his mind?

Glad to hear the result of MacS’s scan was positive soop.

The scan result is good news and a good job you have a doctor who is on the ball. Hopefully MacS will have a test soon.

Better news soop I hope the weight loss is just natural and nothing to concern you.

The scan shows little change to cause concern. A huge relief. GP is concerned that MacS is losing too much weight. He's therefore to have another oscopy. All that I can say is - THANK you NHS.

ann Your friend's news has been a blow. It's understandable that you feel sad and deflated.

Good morning everyone. Like you Ann, I have just read morethan’s post and have made my mascara run. I was glad to see her back, as I have been wondering about them.
Saw my GP yesterday about my knee ( after I agreed to be interviewed by the medical students ? - such babies!) and now I am off for an X-ray on Friday. I can only heap praise on the NHS in Suffolk compared to living in a city. We thought we might have longer waits etc out here but everything is so much quicker even with Covid.
WI lunch in the village pub today - it has moved from a monthly meeting to a weekly lunch!
This afternoon I shall start my Clothkits jacket for DGD with nostalgia washing around me for the days when I sewed for my daughter!
I hope there has been good news for everyone waiting.

Well I couldn’t cartwheel before so that will be a real bonus of my op?
Good morning everyone.
Strangely I was very down last evening. I was so boyed up during the day , ringing everyone to say how well I felt and with news of my progress .
Suddenly I wondered what it was all for.
We are in tier three, my GD works in the dining room/ office all day, winter is coming and everything looked hopeless.
I couldn’t sleep and eventually dropped off only waking up at 10:25 to a cold cup of rea beside me.
My GD gets rather annoyed with me as she says I create my own stress, at present she is right.

One of my phone calls upset me, I may have posted that I had made contact about 18 months ago with a childhood friend who had lived abroad for any years.
We met up and it was lovely, we have stayed in touch ever since but she is now fighting cancer for the second time.
The current treatment has not worked, she is having more but prognosis not good.
She is 83 like me and I think it will be wait and see after this.
So sad.

Another friend is in Cyprus, totally ignoring lockdown here, third holiday this year and yet another one told me they are throwing caution to the wind and have booked for Tenerife, again in tier three but choosing to ignore it.

Enough of all that, I have just read morethan’s post and think how blessed most of us are.
