A subject access request

I was just having a browse through some emails and was reading one from the Information Commissioner about Subject Access Requests. They are similar to a Freedom of Information request but apply to private companies as opposed to public companies and the government.

I hadn’t heard of them before but I wondered if anyone had used one ?

I thought they were for individuals to find out what personal information is held about them by companies.

But I could be totally wrong?

Yes you’re right but I only knew about the FOI option . Just curious?
