Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning all from heavy looking skies in Glasgow . I must give my car a drive today and as I will be out, may have a look in to Sainsbury’s if it is quiet. A few bits to do in the garden will be done today as we are due a very stormy weekend, high winds and torrential rain will be keeping us indoors. Thankfully we have the weekend off!?
Hope all goes well for positive news with your phone call Marydoll ?
Thinking of you and you DH Grammaretto ?
Wishing all a good day whatever you are doing.
Haste ye back gilly
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dreary but dry in South Yorkshire this morning. I slept badly, woke up sneezing and eyes streaming. This is getting silly now. It’s winter FGS! DH is making a Christmas cake today. I have all the ingredients apart from ground cloves, but I have whole cloves so he will either have to put them in the pestle and mortar or hoof it down to the supermarket and buy some. As he always chooses to do things the hard way, it will be the former I expect. I am only in charge of lining the tin, so whatever happens after that will be nothing whatsoever to do with me?! Welcome Valels, and to one and all, stay safe and have the best day you can.
Good Morning everyone from Lockdown Land where warm sunshine is helping a little breeze to dry my ? laundry.
Did far too much garden work yesterday, so have developed an interesting walk this morning with some extra creaking of various joints thrown in!
Have decided to try ignoring lockdown here - so that we don’t get down in the dumps. Not hard because we’ve done so little this year that new restrictions will go over our heads. Yesterday was able to shout at the chimney sweep in his 10 minute blitz and clean, ‘you’re the first person in our living room since March!’ It’s true......every other occasion (not enough to get excited about) took place in our garden, so apart from a travel restriction - not being able to go out just for amusement, and not far - nothing changes really. We must just grin and bear it. As long as we’re all safe and well ...... no problem. (I shall, of course review this new accepting me as we reach Christmas week?.)
Hope Mr G comes home by the weekend, Grammaretto.
Wishing hard for all lovely Grans as you plod through these difficult times. Grab every little sunbeam you find and step outside and b r e a t h e .....you may see the end of Taichinan’s lovely rainbow has settled in your gardens.
Keep safe. Big French hugs ?????????
Loving the winks Oldbutstilluseful!
Good morning All. It's dry and cold in Polmont. We're in tier three so I'm meeting a friend for coffee at a local garden centre this morning. It'll be good to have a catch up. We had to book a time so I'd better not be late! I'm supposed to be going to Next this afternoon with mum, daughter and grandson but I'm so wary of shops. Dd, dgs and I were at the Range last Friday and it was so busy I felt claustrophobic. I hope everyone has a good day.
Well it’s a good job I’m not posting a pic from north Wales this morning Taichinan.......damp, drizzly and so misty that my mountain has disappeared!
Reading all your posts it looks like I’m having a copycat day - fishnchips like Mick and making a few cards like GrandmaSue! Wish I was copying Urmstongran with her sunshine ?
Hope everyone has a good day and those with worries some peace x
Good morning fromShropshire. The rain has stopped for the moment but forecast to start again later.
A day at home today getting laundry and housework up to date before a busy week ahead.
Have a good day all and stay safe.
Good Morning from another dull and grey Black Country. Those sunny days seem a long time ago now.
Woke late as the smoke alarm on the landing went off about 4am, no smoke! So reset it. Just drifting off and it went off again about 40 minutes later. It is one of those sealed units where you cannot change the battery and is supposed to last 5 years. Only bought it early last year. So off to buy one today with replaceable batteries I think.
Had a lovely lunch out with my friend for my belated birthday treat. Her birthday is in November, so I said to her it could be next summer before I can take you for lunch again. As we are in Tier 2 as from midnight tonight.
Meeting up with DD and 2 of my DGD's today, hopefully a walk round their village, then lunch in the local. Again, the last chance to do this for a while. I haven't actually been in their house since lockdown in March, and not hugged them either. I worry that I am sort of becoming detached from them all, especially the girls
Welcome Valels to this thread.
Pleased you had a good day Ashcombe despite not being together.
Wishing you all a good day, with special love and thoughts of Gilly
Good morning all. Dreary here AGAIN!
Visited my elderly SIL yesterday and took her in some shopping. Stayed to have a cuppa and chat, which we both enjoyed. She’s getting very feeble and only has a bit of help from her brother once a week. No one else seems to bother. Neighbours or family. Her gardener has deserted her and it’s dufficult for her to get to the docs or hairdressers. I’m not here all of the time, so I try to help out if I can. Feel very sorry for her. ?
* Maple-leaf* I too am making a start in the Christmas cake today and also preparing a beef stew for the slow cooker. Looking forward to that.
I went to our book club meeting last night as it’s held in a beach cafe with tables well spread out. Only 6 of us but it was fun and so nice to see people in the flesh. Zoom never seems to work.
What’s happened to Sheepandcattle? I was enjoying her tales of farm life. ???
Take care all and ‘count your blessings, name them one by one. ‘. (My mother’s favourite song). ?. ?
Taichinan. ???
Good Morning everyone. N. Bucks is dull and breezy just now.
At home today other than a hair appointment this afternoon.
I shall be on tenterhooks waiting for a phone call from DD 3 , hoping it is good news. Will keep myself busy with some baking and craft.
Healing wishes to all who are ill or have worries and hope everyone finds some ?today
Good morning Mick, morning all from a rather damp South Lanarkshire.
Well we escaped tier 4 by the skin of our teeth but that will be reviewed on daily basis so I’m keeping everything crossed that it stays that way.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this afternoon which will be lovely, it’s good to see people face to face.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible, look after yourselves.
Good morning Mick and everybody. We've had a lovely pink sunrise here on the Angus coast and are forecast a pleasant day with no rain and a light breeze. Sounds alright to me. All the classes went well yesterday. The ghosts were not in evidence but we were joined by a little great tit who was much more agile than any of us! It flew into the hall kitchen so I closed the door to keep it in there until the gap between classes when I could open a window. The window wouldn't open but I found a door into an enclosed courtyard which did and then closed the door into the hall again. When I went back after the next class the wee soul had gone, so job well done.
That was a kind gesture Grandmattie and I'm sure it was much appreciated. The smiling thing behind a mask is a bit of a problem Scentia. A young friend of mine says she's taken to winking as she gives her hidden smile!
I was so tired after the classes yesterday that I had no energy to do anything other than flop, so I didn't get round to reading the posts until just before bed. It was a lovely way to end the day. Loved the picture of the boots, but can't remember who posted it. They'll put a smile (or a wink!) on many a face during the long dark Covid winter.
With nothing much to do today, I'm lying in bed looking at a lovely chunk of rainbow. I will add a photo if I can for all who need a bit of morning cheer. Take care everyone, stay cosy and safe and seek out whatever will bring you cheer today. ???
Good morning all from a grey, drizzly S Hants. Beauregard buy a lottery ticket!
Grandmattie how thoughtful, a bunch of kindness. Today we have the kitchen radiator being moved and replaced and our bedroom one being replaced, plus a new toilet installed downstairs, all action. DD popped in with GC’s yesterday, was lovely to see them, albeit briefly. They went to a pumpkin festival later, what an amazing display, I leave you a picture she sent us. Have a gentle day all.
Good morning from a dry north Surrey
Scentia I always like to smile at strangers and at work I tell my patients I am smiling behind the mask
I too am refreshed after a calmer day yesterday. DH had a convoluted visit to dr yesterday. Has had “cold/cough” for 4 weeks. Had -ve Covid test done on Tuesday (only had it done as knew that would be first request from GP). Phone call from surgery, triaged over phone then given appt to go to local walk-in centre. Had to park and ring them, another triage whilst sat in car then seen face to face and examined by a dr. Now on antibiotics for a chest infection- what a palaver
Have the DGs this morning, more Star Wars themed fun, then delivering them to meet their dad for a trip to the cinema
Happy Friday everyone
Good morning from a cloudy but dry Colchester. A bit warmer today too.
Another day in isolation for DH.
I will stock up at the supermarket and then keep him company this weekend.
A friend has asked me to look at their family tree, so that will keep me busy.
Good Morning from, as kitty says, a grey Leicestershire.
We are going for a coffee to a local Heritage Centre while we still can as we go into Tier 2 tomorrow. If the numbers don’t come down it will be Tier 3 next. I do wish the Universities had let their students learn from home!
That is a lovely gesture GrandMattie and I am sure your eyes light up when you smile Scentia. It sounds as if your DD has perked up!
I hope your consultant can offer you some solutions Marydoll.
Good morning Mick and all
Well it’s not raining yet in S E Essex!!! Have the 5yr old and baby GS today, no plans on what to do with them. Carved a pumpkin with Jim earlier in the week and I think our parks nearby are very muddy.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light and a dry day is forecast.
I’m trying to stay as active as I can during the daytime as the nights get so long up here so we’re heading out for a longish walk today. There should still be some beautiful autumn colours to see before the last of the leaves get blown away, probably this weekend with the gales that are forecast.
Good news yesterday as DGD covid test came back negative, thank goodness for that. It’s probably one of the usual children’s bugs that she’s got but at least they can all come out of quarantine now and get back to normal.
Hope your call with the consultant is helpful marydoll and you make some progress
Thank you for the tips on smiling behind a mask scentia and grandmattie I too am finding it strange trying to show that you’re smiling whilst wearing a mask
Thinking of those in high tiers and facing restrictions, frustrations and worries - so difficult just now
Hoping all the very lovely GMorningers have the best day they can today and take care whatever the day brings ?
Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is bright and breezy at the moment.
Nothing planned today but must make the most of having the car as it is going in for it's repair on Monday, probably for a few days.
I should be staying with one of my girls this week but one is in Tier 2 and the other has a granddaughter isolating because of Covid at school. I do wonder when I shall see either of them again, it does make me feel sad ?.
Have the best Friday you can and stay safe everyone xx
Good morning,
At least it's dry this morning after a very wet and dismal day yesterday. It is meant to be a bit milder today, but I'm not so sure as the heating has come on as per normal.
I intend making a start on the Christmas cake today by weighing out and soaking the fruit ready for mixing and baking it tomorrow. That's the plan, anyway. ?. I will also prepare a beef stew for the slow cooker this morning for dinner tonight.
I was very lazy yesterday and felt extremely unmotivated to do anything and so couldn't be bothered to do even half of what I'd intended, so today I must stir myself and catch up. I'm afraid the grey, wet days have that effect on me sometimes, which isn't good, and the situation we are having to live under at the moment just adds to it for all of us, doesn't it? I'll feel better today anyway as DH will be home again as he's had to be away for work this week.
Really pleased that you had a good day yesterday, Ashcombe.
What a lovely, thoughtful thing to do, grandmattie. I imagine it brought a smile to the shop owners face.
Are you a new poster, Valels? Welcome to the thread.
Hope the consultation goes well, Marydoll.
Well everyone, try to have the best day you can and keep safe.
? for our missing posters.
Good morning all. It's dull but not raining (yet) in my part of Derbyshire.
Yesterday I unexpectedly bought my first Christmas present while doing my weekly shop - an activity centre for my one year old grandson. An impulse buy but I think he'll love it. It'll probably be a while before I get any others - I'm never an early bird with Christmas, I struggle to get motivated until the panic sets in! Even less so this year.
Good news yesterday - DH got an email confirming his insurance claim for his cancelled holiday was going to be paid. We don't usually take out insurance for UK holidays, but had to insure for the river cruise we should have been going on in July, which was cancelled, so it was fortunate we were able to make a claim. He also received a small rebate from HMRC for overpaid tax when he retired in april. We're waiting in anticipation for the third thing now!
DH hopes we will go on a short walk today. I hope that walk will include a trip to the garden centre to buy compost and to the agricultural merchants to buy a bag of horse feed for our hungry girls.
Very thoughtful of you grandMattie
Hope everyone has a good day today.
Good morning all from a very grey North Leicestershire.
Hoping the rain holds off as we are meeting DD2 and family up in Charnwood Forest. They have been at Center Parks in north Nottinghamshire and are on their way home to Hertfordshire. Normally they would have come for lunch here.
The butcher will deliver this afternoon and then a man is coming to quote for a new back door.
Have the best day possible everyone and (((hugs))) for gilly.
