These scams usually have spelling mistakes, dodgy grammar - and try to hook you in by offering you something.

threexnanny Sun 01-Nov-20 18:23:53

If only all scams were as easy to spot as this one.

B9exchange Sat 31-Oct-20 15:48:39

Yes, I got one too, with only the title, message already deleted 'at user's request'?

Oopsadaisy4 Sat 31-Oct-20 13:56:51

Poor chap, all this money and he can’t even give it away!!

That was a joke BTW.

DanniRae Sat 31-Oct-20 13:51:02

I was lucky enough to receive 2 messages from Rev Morgan but they had been deleted by the time I found them! shock

Grannynannywanny Sat 31-Oct-20 12:57:31

Thanks Marydoll

Marydoll Sat 31-Oct-20 12:52:32

Open the PM and at the top of it on the left hand side, is a report button.

Grannynannywanny Sat 31-Oct-20 12:46:40

For future reference ladies how do I report a spam email to GNHQ? I deleted and blocked the Rev Morgan but I couldn’t figure out how to report it

Marydoll Sat 31-Oct-20 12:24:16

Don't EV! They have probably realised that we are not to be messed with! ?

EllanVannin Sat 31-Oct-20 12:12:04

I'm feeling very left out grin

Callistemon Sat 31-Oct-20 11:14:14

I had four private messages from James too, but I didn't open them, just deleted them.

Thanks for letting me know what he said, Lucca
I missed out on a big financial opportunity there.

We used to get lots of pleas by letter from nurses in Nigeria wanting to work in the uk. The stamps were lovely and as I collect stamps for the air ambulance it was win win.

threexnanny Sat 31-Oct-20 09:40:39

I was one of the chosen too !!! Reported and deleted.

BlueBelle Sat 31-Oct-20 09:36:56

Well I m still not being donated any money I m a lost cause ???

Marydoll Sat 31-Oct-20 09:31:49

HQ have posted on another thread saying that they will be contacting people affected by it. We have three threads on this, which causes even more confusion.

maddyone Sat 31-Oct-20 09:22:38

The brass nerve of the scumbags that do this never fails to disgust me.

maddyone Sat 31-Oct-20 09:21:19

I hope GNHQ will start a thread telling us the account has been deleted and warning all posters about the possibility of scam accounts.

M0nica Sat 31-Oct-20 09:10:41

It probably comes from Nigeria.

Beechnut Sat 31-Oct-20 09:06:46

I had one and reported.

Galaxy Sat 31-Oct-20 09:04:37

I was about to complain that I didnt have one, and then there it was. It will be handy for Christmas.

Marydoll Sat 31-Oct-20 08:53:38

Deleting isn't enough. Reporting means GNHQ will delete the account.

Glenfinnan Sat 31-Oct-20 08:48:43

I got it too! Hope Gransnet can trace the source and put a stop to this.

BlueSky Sat 31-Oct-20 08:41:15

Same message deleted.angry

EllanVannin Sat 31-Oct-20 08:12:24

The internet has certainly opened up to all the cranks !

It's best not opening these pm's or you leave yourself wide open to fraud. When you don't know a sender, delete and hope you've got a good virus protector.

Witzend Sat 31-Oct-20 08:03:03

I’ve had it, too.
Nice try, Mr Scamster! (Though actually a pretty rubbish try, I can’t imagine who’s going to fall for that.)
