Is it dangerous to be a Grandad on this forum? Perhaps there is a chaps forum somewhere then!

You should know by now that you never end a sentence with a dangling preposition

You should know by now that you never end a sentence with a dangling preposition. It looks unprofessional!

And abbreviations should be avoided. Hence forth Argy Bargy
thread will be known as: The Argentina Bargentina thread.

but we do like having some men to banter with
BlueBelle What have you done?
I go away for a few days only to find that other Grandads have disappeared. Are they frightened by your threat to banter!? shock
Let banter commence! I'll go first!

If it was me, I'd rephrase your effort to read ".....some men with whom to banter"!
That would also cover "to debate" or even "to berate" if that should ever be your intention! hmm
Here endeth the 1st lesson!
Your turn!

One gets a bit lonely sometimes. How can one safely chat with an online friend? Is there a website that does this for older people (UK)?

Have you tried Silverline

Thank you for reminding me Rufus
I could only find this post on a similar date but clearly on another topic
Stuff Dry October, I’m on a bender till December
(BTW I still am - possibly more than ever.)
But as for popping up sooner or later have I been somewhere?

And as Welbeck says, you have been welcomed by various people since about 6 months ago Omits01 , I hope you are feeling less “new” by now. Have you found Grandad’s Shed yet?

Rufus2 Sun 01-Nov-20 06:45:20

Welcome to our forum
we hope you enjoy your stay
And please feel free to be yourself
as long as it's the way we say

Spangler Very good! You're a poet and I didn't know it! grinYou don't happen to be a composer too!?
You could set it to music and then we might have sufficient Chaps to form a Gransnet "Barber Shop Quartet" hmm
I could do with a haircut right now!
Good health
OoRoo.

Maw I thought you might pop up sooner or later! grin

Sorry to spoil your day, but the above came up on a GN search. hmm
I know our memories are supposed to fade with age, but Oct. 2nd isn't that long ago!
What I'm "going on about", if that's what you'd like to call it, is as one of the resident "chaps", what interests Omit01 so we can re-assure him he'll be in safe hands and we can have something to chat about, other than cheap plonk!
Not that difficult really! grin

Omits01 G'Day Mate!! Pardon me for asking, but are you fair dinkum?
You asked this question on 2nd Oct and Maw suggested you try a Silverlinings or something like that. You didn't respond! sad
Then more recently you asked about Grandads Shed and was referred to my "GreatNan"thread and was given a welcome, but again no response! sad
Perhaps you could give some clues as to what it is you are looking for! smile

Share a beer or glass of wine about once a week. That's it for us. too expensive so really gave it up when a bottle went over £2.50
I have no recollection of mentioning Silverlinings (another member by the way )
From what I can see he has been a member since at least las March anyway
So what are you going on about?

TrendyNannie6 Sat 31-Oct-20 20:53:19

You are more than welcome Omits01

Another male, we are definitely a threatened species, let me explain:

Welcome to our forum,
we hope you enjoy your stay.
And please feel free to be yourself
as long as it's the way we say.
Make sure that, you know your place'
not too much, or we'll tear you down.
we'll bully you for smiling
and wonder why you frown.
We'll tell you that your worthless
and if that doesn't confound
we will cry a load of crocodile tears
As you're buried in the ground.
Your politics can be with anyone
As long as it's who we choose,
And we'll let you have your opinions
If you shape them to our views.
Welcome to our forum,
we promise that we won't deceive
And one more rule now that you're here,
There's no way you can leave.

Welcome - we have a number of Granddads on here.

LauraNorder Sat 31-Oct-20 15:04:45

PS Spangler is male

LauraNorder Sat 31-Oct-20 15:03:33

Welcome Omits01, always good to welcome another poster of either sex, or somewhere in between. You don’t even have to be a grandparent. We have our Spangler who is one of us but doesn’t have children or grandchildren.

Feelingmyage55 Sat 31-Oct-20 14:27:06

Omits01. Welcome. Why don’t you start by posting on the Good Morning thread which is opened daily by Michael. If you read today’s thread - Good Morning Saturday you will get a flavour of the posts which are very varied, long, short, inbetween, personal, or very descriptive. You can post daily or just when the mood takes you. Then join their threads that interest you. Or start a thread telling us about a hobby for example. Some of the ladies on here are great at diy etc, keen gardeners, so lots of chance for shared interests.

BlueBelle Sat 31-Oct-20 14:18:18

Welcome from me too you have to be a strong lad and understand women’s humour which can seem hard sometimes but we do like having some men to banter with
I hope you stay around a while

Galaxy Sat 31-Oct-20 14:13:30

Excellent miss marple technique there rufus grin
