Bought a dining table and chairs 40 years ago which was a bit more than we could afford. We are still using it to this day. Even if we wanted to get rid of it no one would want it as it is the dreaded and unpopular brown furniture (oak). It has served us well and will continue to do so for years to come as it is well made unlike many furniture items these days.

Not bought but we’re given an old dining table , chairs and sideboard when we got married. Just to tide us over.
We finally bought a new one 35 years later.

We were only here for a short time but here we are all these years later, needing an update.

Yes me too, we bought the house we are in because it was between both of our places of work, we had to get out of the rental and there was nothing else around at the time ( we had been looking for a year) when we got the keys DH said ‘ shall I take them back to the Agents and put it back on the market?’
23 years later we are still here, but in retrospect it’s turned out ok, it took a lot of work but here we are. Still.

I've often compromised but not over the house!

and us. We moved into our house about 27 years ago because it was round the corner from my mum and I knew we would have to look after her. She died 12 years ago and we are still here.

My house! grin
If I realised that I would be too lazy to ever move house, I would have bought a slightly larger one.

That they thought, ‘would do for now’.

We bought a blue plastic bath rack when we put in a new bathroom in the year 2001 and here we are 2020 and it’s still being used.
