Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dark , dry but cold outside this morning here in Brackley .
Yesterday, I did go out on the buses Bicester via Buckingham , did my usual cafe and snack ,and then joined a busy Specsavers to buy a gift card , it same to take forever , then did my final gift card in Sainsburys , all I need is Xmas stamps and all set up .
Today a small shop , and my chiropodist is coming later in the morning , have lunch then watch the cycling on TV.
Take Care ,
Mick

Very busy gardening day to fill five very large garden waste bags , drive nine miles to the tip, queue for 40 minutes, seems like the whole world was going to the tip before lockdown!
Then home to have a snack sitting in the wonderful warm sunshine and a cup of tea, and give some thought to what I could aim to achieve during lockdown two, as had failed miserably to achieve anything for the first lockdown.

Gelisajams , so sorry about your son, you must be really worried.
I hope he is in touch with his GP and getting all the necessary support. As a chronic asthmatic, I have been warned of the dire consequences of not seeking help if I catch it.

Bluesapphire don’t throw your teapot away!!
Either use it as a planter with a trailing plant in it or hang it up near a hedge or on a wall and the birds will nest in it.

Good morning Mick and all who follow from a dry and bright Greater Manchester.
Happy birthday Greyduster flowers enjoy your meal.
Took me ages yesterday to phone for an appointment for bloods to be taken at the hospital next week. I'm such a wimp, it's not the bloods I mind at all, it's visiting the hospital that worries me. I was reassured that a one way system was in place and the exit would take me to the middle of the car park. I then had visions of me popping up from a trapdoor like a pantomime demon or someone in Harry Potter! I feel more reassured now but I haven't been anywhere since March.
Had a Tesco delivery yesterday and was looking forward to trying my new thickening shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately I ordered conditioner and apres shampoo which is another conditioner. We seem to have stockpiled conditioner - 8 bottles now but only 1 shampoo hidden away in the very tall bathroom cabinet! I need to make a list of what we have in there.
Zoom meeting this afternoon with 4 friends. I'm smiling already as it takes us a week to get sorted. I've been using Zoom since last year when my nephew got married in Las Vegas and family and friends who couldn't go watched it live on Zoom. He and his wife were married by a Gene Simmonds lookalike. The bride wore black! It was erm ... unusual to say the least.
I thought using Zoom was going to be a one-off - who knew ...?
Hope everyone with ills or worries has as peaceful a day as possible. Stay safe. flowers

Urmstongran, the way I see it is that I'm alive so I may as well be kicking, or dancing, or singing ?

You'll soon get to know us Blossoming ?

Blossoming Wed 04-Nov-20 10:41:03

Good morning all. Cold here but not raining so I think I’ll go for a short walk after lunch. I haven’t been out for a week.

I hope everyone is well. I’m still quite new here and don’t really know anybody yet ?

GrannySomerset Wed 04-Nov-20 10:39:05

HAZBEEN - I’ll swap do your ironing if you would clean my cooker, my most unfavourite job. Hope the consultation is helpful.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 04-Nov-20 10:29:54

Good morning HAZBEEN good luck with your telephone consultation.

Onwards and upwards BlueSaphire I do hope this new therapy will help.

CherryChezzy rest and relax

Gillybob if you are reading, we really miss you, I do hope that there is a light at the end of your long tunnel of troubles.

As we go into this second lockdown so many troubles and poorly folks and family on this friendly thread, sending (((hugs))) to you all

HAZBEEN Wed 04-Nov-20 10:20:40

Good morning all! Haven't been posting for a while. I have been a bit fragile lately then got caught up with the antics the other day! Oh well onwards.
I haven't read the thread yet this morning so will do so after posting.
I am waiting for a telephone call from my consultant this morning. Two weeks ago she said the meds weren't working as quickly as she hoped so after more blood tests she is going to decide today if the dose goes up or we change to another type.
Apart from that I haven't any plans for today. I will probably just do a bit more cross stitch, maybe some baking or perhaps clean the oven, anything to avoid the ironing!
Stay safe all.

Good morning everyone from a beautifully sunny Forth Valley. Sheets on the line and anticipating a bracing walk.

Urmstongran Wed 04-Nov-20 10:12:36

Many happy returns of the day Greyduster! ??

Welcome back to you Cherry you were missed. You always manage to find something upbeat even in your most difficult of times. Kudos to you.

And BlueSapphire you are one amazing lady - reaching out and accepting help isn’t easy sometimes. Well done - I hope your new therapist guides you with coping mechanisms that bring you back to being ‘you’.

GrannyOwl5 Wed 04-Nov-20 10:02:16

Good morning everyone from north Kent where we have clear blue skies, but a bit chilly when I hurtled up the garden to chase the pesky squirrels ? off; they scamper over the fence, but GrannyOwl can put on a fair turn of speed when they’re digging in the garden ?

A bitty day today: a bit of this and that. I have an “empty” this morning as DH has gone to our family business in a consultative capacity to help with preparing for lockdown part two; the business is run and managed by DS and DD but they have asked for support from DH in these unprecedented times. I might pop in later in a supervisory capacity!

Glad your first therapy went well BlueSapphire; I have great admiration with the positive way you are dealing with your anxieties. Happy birthday Greyduster hope you have a good day. Good wishes to all those celebrating birthdays or anniversaries and to the Covid warriors.

Time to disturb the dust and whirl the hoover through the debris. Stay strong - we can do this and better days will be here again. Keep safe

CherryCezzy Wed 04-Nov-20 10:01:50

Good morning everyone from sunny but chilly Gower.

A joy of joys day (not) mopping the floors for me today ?. I may slump in a chair after that, eat a sticky bun and indulge in my non artistic artwork ?

? Bellasnana. Such a difficult day for you. My wonderful brother died far far too young and although it was 23 years ago I still miss him so much. So many wonderful memories though as I loved him so dearly and know I was loved in return; love is a forever gift - the person may no longer be with us but the love never leaves.

Third one down today dragonfly ?

? Happy Birthday *Greyduster ? ? ?

Thinking of Grammaretto and her family. Find something to enjoy and smile about today ???

I want to thank all you lovely people who have given me such a warm welcome back after my couple of weeks absence. I'm powering on a stronger battery level today ?

Stay safe, wear a smile and be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️

Urmstongran Wed 04-Nov-20 09:39:39

Good morning everyone from Malaga where the WiFi signal is bobbins because of the mist over the sea & mountains (again). Hence my tardiness!

Yesterday it was beautiful by lunchtime so I’m hoping it’ll be a similar day later.

Himself sorted out our flights home courtesy of Mr. O’Leary whilst I was out yesterday with my ladies.

Our Covid warrior thinks her ‘tight chest’ on Monday was muscular pain from slight over exertion after light chores at the weekend. That has reassured me.

Right, I’m settling down with a coffee and a fried egg on toast butty (posh here, not) to read all your posts.

Hope Wednesday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

mancgirl Wed 04-Nov-20 09:39:16

Good morning from a drizzly Manchester. Mr manc is in the garage trying to find out why the heating has not come on this morning. Another one with hairdressing appointment this morning. So glad she could fit me in. I didn't want to wait until 18th December. Also out for early dinner to support a local restaurant before it closes for a month. Happy birthday Greyduster. Have the best day you can. flowersfor those with extra cares and worries

Grandmafrench Wed 04-Nov-20 09:37:31

Welcome hulahoop keep calm and carry on ? ?

Gelisa happy about your gardening possibility today and well done on the cake! Less impressed with your COVID news. Hope I can say that you don’t fight viruses: you have to listen to your body (at whatever age) let them run their course and be monitored with some help for the symptoms. Your DS really needs to just give in now and rest...however long it takes. That way he’ll get the best chance of a complete recovery without his illness dragging on and on. And he has Asthma? He needs everyone who cares about him to have a strong word so that he will rest, make an uncomplicated recovery and save his dear Mum and family from too much worry.

Sorry for this outburst......let’s just say your post touched a nerve. ?

GrannySomerset Wed 04-Nov-20 09:34:25

Good morning from a frosty but sunny North Somerset. After the excitement of new curtains for the last two bedrooms (and I did still like what I had chosen) and the new washing machine to get to grips with, and friends to tea, I have used up a week’s excitement and there is nothing left to look forward to. So not sure what today will hold, other than a potter up to the village to post a couple of letters.

Thinking of all our GM friends with worries and unhappiness, and especially hoping that Gilly pops in occasionally to know that we miss her and are thinking of her.

MawB2 Wed 04-Nov-20 09:30:12

Good morning on a cold and frosty morning in N Bucks.
After a disturbed night dreaming that Joe Biden had actually defeated Trump (if only) I have got one load of sheets out and the second load in the machine.
So nice having D and GS for a couple of days especially as he “thawed” on the second day and was much happier to chat and play with me. Just like this time last year when we saw each other most weeks.
So yesterday as it was a lovely morning we went off to a local country park meeting up with one of D’s oldest school friends and her mother who is one of my book group friends and had a walk, play, chat followed by hot chocolate in the cafe. The “girls” now Londoners did make me laugh ordering their “vegan hot chocolate with oat milk” but the waitress didn’t bat an eyelid.
They left after lunch and I went off to the hairdresser for a (very short)lockdown haircut which I had luckily booked just in time.
Out for lunch today with 3 friends at Brasserie Blanc then it’s hunker down and get on with my knitting for the next however many weeks.
Wishing you all a pleasant day!

Good morning from a still overcast County Durham.

Yesterday we took on the challenge of taking a trip into Durham City. There was a Christmas gift for sale in the cathedral shop I wanted and I'm afraid I didn't want to pay their extortionate postage costs. We decided to treat ourselves to coffee and cake. It was so strange seeing so many tables sectioned off in an area so often bustling with people . There were only us and two verges enjoying a break.

Inside the cathedral itself all the pews were well spaced making the view looking down the nave even more huge and spectacular. So empty too with the absence of so many of the tourists that are usually a feature of the city throughout the year. We normally visit the cathedral with the GC over Christmas to see the tree and the beautiful carved, wooden crib with miners carrying their lamps to pay homage to baby Jesus. Will we do that this year. Who knows?

It was GS 3's birthday yesterday and it was a real joy to see him at our front door after school. He was so excited to receive his present and talked non stop about the fuss made of him at school. Oh how we've missed so many family celebrations this year. My family are all local and birthdays and any other special events are easily organised and enjoyed together.

Thinking of you today Bellasnana. I know how sad you must feel. I too have lost two sisters well before their time and I carry them both in my heart. They were not only my sisters but also my best friends. Fortunately one of them lived long enough for my children to remember as their favourite aunty. thanks for you today Bell.

Have the best day you can everyone in such uncertain times.

Grandmafrench Wed 04-Nov-20 09:16:37

Good Morning everyone. Breezy, warm and more ⛅️ cloudy today in ??. ( Do hope that’s not a fried egg emoji without my ? glasses)

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Grey ?? after your rather rude awakening. Think we can safely assume that winkling the Orange One out of the White House was going to be hard.

Bella ? hold tight to your memories. Blue it must be hard to have to plan and think ahead to curb your anxiety, but it’s so worth it. Think of yourself....and how much stronger you are going to feel. Everyone here must be willing you to succeed. I admire the broken teapot in the bin approach. I would clean and mend and save it! And this would explain just how bad I am at de-cluttering! Sometimes you just have to ‘do it’ and enjoy the clear space. Ha! Do I really believe what I’m saying?

Painting going on in our house today. That’ll make us both feel pleased at our efforts. Waiting for suet to arrive from Big A.......imagine not being able to start Christmas pudding or mincemeat because one of the ingredients was still inside a truck many miles away, my old Granny would be spinning!

A beach walk at sunset, Gingster. What could be more beautiful. I used to count the circuits of our little commune that the starlings made before they would suddenly..on some magic signal...drop like stones into the Gleditsia trees on our land in Normandy. Here we see endless home-going flocks around the various nature reserves, but the apricot coloured flamingoes against a dark blue sky are the most beautiful. That never fails to lift my spirits when they need lifting. No beach walks for us at the moment, of course.

Have a positive day if you can, dragonfly and get plenty of rest. Sounds a bit like a nice little change of scene, stilllearning. Hope you enjoy your visit and those wonderful views.

Thinking of you and your family Grammaretto ??

Be strong and just get on with life and smile, everyone. Wishing you the best of days and better to come. Stay safe.

With hugs x

Gelisajams Wed 04-Nov-20 09:14:50

Good morning from a dry Morecambe Bay! There’s even a bit of sun. That means I can make a start putting my gardens to bed later.
Yesterday I made the Christmas cake following various bits of advice from GN. Thank you. It seems to have turned out ok. It’s now wrapped in grease proof paper in a tin waiting to be fed!
I don’t usually bake anything. My mother didn’t bake, and if I asked if could help with anything she did she told me the best way I could help was to go and play in my bedroom.
The one thing she did let me do was use her sewing machine. She couldn’t ever thread the needle so always called on me to thread it. I used to make clothes for my dolls and developed a love of sewing and crafts so I’m not totally useless!
DS1 is still fighting C19. He ended up in bed yesterday exhausted but his partner is doing well and the children are still ok. Hopefully he will turn a corner today. I’m a touch worried as he has asthma quite bad.
Wishing Greyduster a very Happy Birthday.
Take care stay safe everyone ?

Good morning everyone. DH and I promised ourselves a long day out today. The sun is shining so we're off to the Lake District for a walk and the views. I'm feeling quite excited! It was good to have a reason to get out of bed if nothing else.....
