The more tenuous and obscure the better!
My aunty went out with the bloke who designed * both*
A) the Cadbury's Chocolate Orange packaging, and
B) Buzby, the British Telecom mascot

I saw Alexi Sayle at the next table in a restaurant in China Town.

Then Mick Hucknell at Chessington world of adventures.

Kate1949 Thu 19-Nov-20 17:31:26

I (and a few others) chased Ray and Dave Davies (Kinks) around Birmingham Hippodrome. blush

quizqueen Thu 19-Nov-20 17:30:36

I served Roy Orbison a hamburger!!

Nortsat Thu 19-Nov-20 17:30:12

I was walking through Kings Cross Station and Patsy Kensit bumped into me.

I was in Waitrose in the Kings Road, Chelsea in the checkout queue behind Felicity Kendal and she tried to pay by cheque without a bank card. They accepted her cheque.

I sold bath towels to Maureen Lipman.

My dad used to go into a cafe which was run by Alvin Stardust's mum.

phoenix Thu 19-Nov-20 17:26:46

I say next to Gary Numan (he was Gary Webb then) in chemistry at grammar school.

Nannytopsy Thu 19-Nov-20 17:26:27

I delivered Christmas post as a student and Don Powell’s mum (the drummer from Slade) was on my round. I used to deliver cards from his fans.

I was coming down the escalator in John Lewis once and heard a very loud Australian lady talking, obviously on her phone. It was Germaine Greer.

phoenix Thu 19-Nov-20 17:25:31

I was interviewed by Eddie Mair on Radio 4 (really lovely chap) also 5 Live, and have done lots of interviews for various local BBC stations, Radio Solent, Oxford, Devon and a few more that I can't remember.

Megs36 Thu 19-Nov-20 17:23:49

Kate Bush went to my school, a long time after me though......

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 17:21:07

Terri I particularly love your second Pizza Express anecdote -
'I wasn't there'...grin

MissAdventure Thu 19-Nov-20 17:20:24

grin
These are really great.
It's surprising how many famous people we've all almost met.

GrandmasueUK Thu 19-Nov-20 17:18:07

I taught 3 children of the graphic designer, who created the shade of brown for the chocolate river, in Johnny Depp’s version of Willy Wonka.

THESE ARE ALL REALLY TENUOUS

My sons went to the same school as Keira Knightly
I was standing next to Gerry Halliwell, as she was then,
in the departure lounge at Heathrow airport, she was carrying her first child in a sling.
Again at Heathrow, my husband pointed out famous Irish Golfer, Patrick something or other, but spelt the Irish way, no idea who he was so he might as well not bothered to tell me!
Flying to New York, Paul Gambaccini was further up the plane.
One of my friends reckoned she bought an item of Jerry Hall's clothing from a charity shop JH donated to when she and Mick Jagger lived in Richmond.
Saw Georgia May Jagger in the pub next to their house on Richmond Hill.
James McAvoy was outside a London theatre on his mobile phone when I was having a drink opposite with a friend.
I saw Tony Curtis walk by when I was working up in SW1 that was back in the '70s
George Harrison married Pattie Boyd in my home town when I was at school, my classmates and I found out about that and hot footed it down to the registry office after school, but alas! it was all over by then.
Again in my home town, Sandy Shaw and Samantha Just both opened boutiques, friends and I were about 12 or 13 turned up, mainly so we could gawp at their hair, clothes and make up grin
My son as a toddler was grizzling in our local pharmacy when I was getting his prescription made up for Amoxicillin (ear infection) when the late Rick Parfitt (Status Quo) came in and said "what's up mate"
One of my sons and several classmates have a close up photo next to Prince Charles who happened to be at Osborne House, IOW when they were doing their year six week away.
Sitting in a local Pizza Express, John Terry came in, my husband said "don't look now, John Terry's over there" to which I replied "who?" no idea who he was thengrin
Also in Pizza Express, I wasn't there, my husband was having lunch with his business partner and Jennifer Saunders was at a nearby table with her children.
When my children were junior school age I took them to a local park roller blading, one afternoon Richard E Grant sped in with his child they were both on blades too.
Last year saw Rob Brydon and his children in our local high street.

My ex was an extra in 'Highlander'.
In the crowded wedding scene, he was dancing around wearing a goat's head (not very practical when you have to wear glasses to see anything at all!)

Maggiemaybe Thu 19-Nov-20 17:12:14

I was interviewed for Look North saying what I thought of the (fake) dog muck they’d sprayed with fluorescent pink paint as some sort of initiative to raise awareness. It wasn’t shown on TV but a lot of passers by saw it.

Grandma70s

Lovely story, FannyCornforth. I didn’t faint when I met Nureyev, but I was VERY impressed.

Gosh, I'll bet, what a fine figure of a man.
Tom Baker was also a regular customer in the newsagent.
He always bought twenty Embassy and the Guardian.
She says he was lovely, and always had time for young fans.
Friend's young daughter was a huge fan, and Tom came into the shop in character especially for her.
Unfortunately, daughter was less than impressed; she burst into tears and hid behind the fridge.

kathsue Thu 19-Nov-20 17:09:44

My late DH went to school with Randolph Turpin, the boxer.
I sold a train ticket to Phillip Madoc.

CherryCezzy Thu 19-Nov-20 17:09:01

I once spoilt the filming of a police chase in an episode of Heartbeat by walking across the quadrant of the estate where it was being filmed.

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 17:04:16

I'm now thinking that 'Have you bought or sold anything to or from someone famous?' has legs.

Grandma70s Thu 19-Nov-20 17:02:59

Lovely story, FannyCornforth. I didn’t faint when I met Nureyev, but I was VERY impressed.

MissAdventure Thu 19-Nov-20 17:02:28

Oh yes!
One of my daughter's cars was bought from the dad of a dancer in 'Diversity' smile

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 17:00:50

bikergran's fridge freezer thread has reminded me.
MrC bought a car from Englebert Humperdinck's sister.

MissAdventure Thu 19-Nov-20 16:59:18

Oh! I went out with someone whose best friend modelled the sweatshirt on the programme with Bob Holness presenting.
I can't remember what it was called.

Framilode Thu 19-Nov-20 16:56:21

My friend sang A Mars a day helps you rest work and play in the advert.
