Personally I would rather UK left EU without a deal than give up our freedom. We can avoid buying French food and wine, on the wholecwe drink new world wines anyway.
British cheeses are just as good.

As for travel, we all managed before freedom of movement and can easily go back.

The thought of caving into europe and their desire to annexe uk fills me with horror

What I mean is that deals with Australia and New Zealand will not involve sufficient trade to replace the loss of trade in Europe and the trade we have with the rest of the world through European agreements.
There is blinkered thinking throughout the country.

Meanwhile businesses are told to check the new arrangements in expensive ads funded by the taxpayer - pity the government have no idea of the new arrangements.

I’m sure Norfolk pasta will replace all the Italian in no time. Meanwhile , we are stocking up with the real deal.

The managing of Pasta Foods ( based in Norwich) has said:
Brexit has been a great opportunity for the company
And yes, support our farmers.

I think quite a few other countries are also wanting to leave the EU. They are watching our progress carefully.
The EU are well aware of this which is why they are unwilling to agree to most of our wishes . Terrified the whole Union will come down.

Don't we have any cows in this country?

Yes, and we need to treat our farmers a bit better.

Lucretzia Wed 09-Dec-20 22:36:16

Apparently it's still up in the air.

I think they had turbot

Sunday is the day we'll find out

It's all terribly messy

Callistemon I didn't mean to offend it just reminded me of some of Gabriellas posts .I liked her posts they made me smile .Remember her giving delivery drivers a sandwich and a drink...lol

I think Gabriella may have meant it!
Yes, I miss her take on life

grin

What has been nice on this thread is the obvious entente cordiale. We might sometimes misunderstand each other, disagree or get things a bit lost in translation, but there is always room for good humour and the occasional climb down. Do you think Boris and Ursula can achieve the same?

GagaJo

My daughter bought 8 tubs of freeze dried milk today and has stocked up on pasta. I think it is is going to get quite scary for a while.

A cue for panic buying, which creates shortages!

25Avalon Wed 09-Dec-20 21:37:16

Sorry Nannytopsy I don’t get what you are saying. Could you explain? And don’t accuse me of blinkered thinking either - that is not only presumptious but rude.

With Brussels sprouts Keeleklogger.

Keeleklogger Wed 09-Dec-20 19:16:11

Boris has just arrived in Brussels for his dinner date with the EU chief von der Leyen.
Any ideas what might be on the menu? Fish?

Humble Pie.

I don't think many people care what colour their passport is

I actually thought my old passport was black. Didn't know it was blue! Very dark blue.

I love Somerset Brie, Callistemon.

Is EllianeGabriella in disguise there a certain Mrs Bucket style about her posts?

I think Ellianne was joking? You know - tongue in cheek?

Personally, I like Somerset brie and Herefordshire cider.
Proper job.

M0nica Wed 09-Dec-20 18:57:15

I am amazed that some people can be as trivial as the care what colour their passport is on the cusp of this country and its economy taking such a big step into the void.

vegansrock Wed 09-Dec-20 18:45:17

dinahmo the booze cruise trips got fewer after T Blair lowered our wine tariffs but they will become attractive again if bigger tariffs are slapped on. Lots of opportunities for smuggling , especially as we are 50,000 customs officials short!

vickymeldrew Wed 09-Dec-20 18:41:02

Haven’t we got a deal with Canada? We’ll be okay for maple syrup then !

Nannytopsy Wed 09-Dec-20 18:36:37

Oh good Avalon. Do you seriously think that will keep the British economy going? I am so cross about this idiotic, blinkered thinking.

vickymeldrew Wed 09-Dec-20 18:36:07

I can’t answer your question Dina, however, those of you hoping for a ‘blue’ passport will be disappointed. Mine came recently and it’s so dark it looks black to me just like a Canadian or American one.

Dinahmo Wed 09-Dec-20 18:26:06

Talking of blue passports I haven't yet investigated what I will need to do when my current EU passport runs out. It's not for a few years yet so will I have to get a blue one or can I have an EU one as I live in France?

vegansrock Wed 09-Dec-20 18:24:30

At least he’ll get a good meal.
