foggy glasses

On Amazon, of course you can but little plastic frames which fit inside a mask and stop mask being sucked into your mouth when you speak. They are cheap 10 for £5 I think, ideal as tree gift !! I don’t know how well they work as mine haven’t arrived yet but friends who have them say the masks stay dry and glasses don’t steam up so if that is so they will be good.

Thank you for this tip. I bought the anti-fog long life cloth from Amazon but was only good for about a week.
I'll definitely try wetting it!

Visors are not recommended because without a mask they do not work effectively.

I have tried all the solutions offered but still have problems. Two things that have improved matters are twisting the strings before hooking them over the ears -it pulls the side of the mask down over the cheek and seems to make a better seal - and I have also bought some plastic strips from amazon that sit on your nose and hold the mask in a better positon, they are difficult to get on to the mask, but both methods work reasonably well.

Wee tip if you are using the anti fog clothes. If you feel they are not working so well, add a few drops of water to the packet. Seems to reactivate them.

I agree it's a real pain.
Apparently the reason they fog up is becasue your warm breath is reaching the lenses. So masks which have a clip on the nose prevent steaming because your warm breath can't go up towards your eyes and escapes sideways. That's why some people use tape over the nosepiece.
It's a bit of a nuisance but if you just pinch the mask over the nose with one hand it does stop the breath going upwards.
If like me, you have hearing aids too, the whole mask thing is a real pain, as I inevitably get them entangled with the elastic loops when taking off the mask! One of these days I'm going to lose an aid! Along with my marbles, probably!

Yes the fairy liquid works but even better is to cut a sheet of toilet paper in half, fold it into three layers and place under the wired part of the mask. I’m a care worker so wear a mask continually when with clients and this system works for me as the toilet paper absorbs any moisture.

I tried a visor yesterday but it flew off my head in the middle of a shopping mall and it was back to the mask which, fortunately was in my pocket - just in case.

Try twisting the elastic once each side before you put them over your ears. It creates a little crease at the sides for your warm breath to escape rather than the top of the mask.

If you have an anti-reflective coating on your glasses though, washing them in water with fairy liquid or other detergents can damage the coating over time. Or so my optician told me.

I have a couple of pairs of glasses and find wearing the shallow lensed ones don't fog up as much as the deeper lensed. I also find pulling my glasses forward slighty the lens dont fog too much.

Clean them with fairy liquid before you go out this stops steaming up. This was first discovered in first lockdown.

I saw on you tube a tip to fold a tissue up and place inside your mask pinched by the nose wire and amazingly it works!

Nannytopsy I totally agree. Visors do not stop spread without mask as well! I bought some anti fog lens cleaning wipes which are successful. You wipe your glasses in the morning and it lasts 24hrs. Think they were £5 for 30wipes and as I only go shopping once a week they are worth it. From Specsavers

I have a terrible time as my specs are high powered glass. So am going to start wearing my reading glasses when out as they are plastic. In fact although very short-sighted am better taking my glasses off .
Have bought anti mist cloths and don't find them much help. One pair of gloves is good as they are like microcloths and can use them frequently.

Same here tried various masks, nose clips, positioning them high with glasses over the top etc worse now that it’s cold outside entering a supermarket. Like Travelsafar I usually end up taking my glasses off, I can still see better even if short sighted!

Why do people not realise that all a visor does is stop any particles entering your eyes? They don’t stop you breathing in nor infecting others. You still need a mask too!!!

Believe me I've tried all the obvious things like wearing my mask high under my glasses and definitely pinch the metal strip over the nose as tightly as possible!!
I've now sent away for those cleaning cloths mentioned above.

As long as you wear your mask high, with the glasses low over the fabric your breath shouldn't hit the glasses.

Apparently putting first aid tape across the top of the mask can help.

I found the spray made my glasses patchy and the cloth made them smeary all over. Visors aren't clear to see through so made my sight worse and tended to slip down. I've bought another cloth and hope it will be better.

I've tried all the obvious things to keep my glasses from fogging up when wearing my mask. The expensive spray I bought from the opticians doesn't seem to work either. It's very irritating. I'll check out these cloths mentioned.

How about a visor rather than a mask? In some respects they are not as convenient as a mask as they can’t be stuffed in a pocket once outside, but they solve the problem of misting glasses.
