What a ghastly premise for a programme. angry

Thank you everyone. I don’t suppose the mighty bbc will listen to us but at least we have made our point of view visible.

I met a new puppy in lockdown mark 1. Lovely dog, happy and trying it's best to please unusual for a digso young. When the return to work started the owners were looking for someone to have it during the day. Guess it would have been 5 or 6 months by then. So predictable, what did they think was going to happen? I imagine that it's locked up for 8 hours a day wondering what it did wrong. I haven't seen it since.

Signed and shared .... how much lower can the BBC sink if this is entertainment?

Signed a few days ago, this is terrible,
Since lock down prices have soared,i think the taxman should get involved in this
So many just domestic pets are being bred for high sums of money,a license to print moneyin other words
This is the reason i'm sure why there are so many thefts
I have read today, just in one day about 7 dogs and puppies stolen in separate incidents
Breeders are getting greedy,
I saw a few weeks ago a french bulldog advertised for £8000.
So many poor dogs are kept in kennels,or outbuildings as well, people must hear them barking and think that is an easy target

So irresponsible. When people return to normal working hours the shelters will be full of unwanted dogs. Anything for a quick buck. I have signed the petition.

In the 90’s the N.C.D.L. now The Dogs Trust campaigned against puppy farms, The New Of The World supported the
campaign, as a supporter of the NC.D.L. I worked with a reporter , went into puppy farms as prospective buyers of a puppy, it was even worse than Maw has rightly said.

The result was a breeder of three or more dogs had to have a
licence from their council. Checks were rarely carried out .

Many bitches who are owned as a single pet are in much danger and since March the prices of puppies has soared.

Please , please sign and have your family and friends to sign too.

I’ve signed the petition, appalled at the idea of the programme

NanaandGrampy Fri 11-Dec-20 21:02:52

It would be a far better programme to show the trials and tribulations and the pain of breeding puppies. It’s not all cuteness and light . I’ll be signing the petition.

It's interesting that the BBC are putting on such a programme when they stopped showing Crufts because of interbreeding.
I found a breed certificate for a dog that is no longer with me, sadly. One of her ancestors appeared twice - down about 3 generations for her sire.

Oldbat1 Fri 11-Dec-20 20:42:58

I signed and shared the other day. Many more dogs are being stolen nowadays either for breeding purposes, or bait dogs or for selling on. So much animal suffering.

EllanVannin Fri 11-Dec-20 20:25:08

There are some cruel people on this earth, greedy and evil. Once the poor animals have produced litter after litter, they're tossed aside and dumped. There's an article about a poor dog which ended up in such a situation, half dead and dumped.

I always hope that nasty things happen to these people.

Deedaa Fri 11-Dec-20 20:13:04

Channel 4 has Jo Brand highlighting the plight of unwanted cats and kittens and the BBC wants to encourage people to breed puppies! There are so many rescue dogs and puppies needing homes and far too many people are paying ridiculous amounts for pedigree puppies. If you aren't going to show them a dog is a dog.

I see pleas on FB every day from people whose beloved pets have been stolen.

I've signed and shared to facebook.

I think this is very ill-advised (stupid) especially in light of the number of much-loved dogs which are stolen for breeding or other purposes.

This is my main concern as well.

I have signed the petition and am appalled at this crass idea for a programme.
It is bound to lead to ill-considered, even illegal breeding, don’t people know what goes on at puppy farms?
Row upon row of cages with dogs shut up from one week to the next with food and water dispensers - often even without day light- and poor little bitches condemned to breed litter after litter until they are exhausted.
I cannot begin to say how sad and angry it makes me! ?????

Bluebellwould Fri 11-Dec-20 19:18:36

I was appalled to read that the BBC are doing a programme called ‘will my puppy make me rich’, focusing on a get rich quick scheme to breed dogs for profit. This programme will glamourise the breeding of pedigree dogs by anyone not just registered breeders. It has been roundly condemned by the RSPCA, Paul O’Grady and many others. There is a petition that has now reached 170,512 votes to stop this purile programme. Please can anyone who feels the same as me, vote too. The BBC can protest and say the programme will not influence people but all you have to do is look at the effects that programmes such as changing rooms and under the hammer have had. Please vote to stop the programme if you can. Many thanks
