Good morning Mick, Annie, and all. It has been raining, but I am snug, and feel better after a good night's sleep. I did practically nothing all day yesterday, and I think that helped. Glad to hear that BlueSapphire, also had a good sleep.
Bellasnana, how awful to have your card compromised. It is a worry when you buy something on line, that it could so easily happen, but hopefully you will soon be re-imbursed.
DD phoned yesterday for a chat, and I mentioned that the photo she promised to send, hadn't appeared. I told her I had checked my email, and shared photo album. Then she said, "did you look in Messages?" No, I hadn't, but there it was Well, I hadn't realised and said she should tell me in words on one syllable, as I am old and decrepit
DH has gone off to do this morning's AV, and I have stayed home, as I didn't think I would be able to sit through the service comfortably. I shall listen on line, then when he comes home, I will light our third advent candle.
Kittylester, your on going saga with the leaking roof must drive you mad. Hope you get it sorted ASAP.
Mawbe, your gin sounds wonderful.
Early this morning, I finished my current book, and ended up in tears. I first read it 30 odd years ago, but have enjoyed it so much again this time round.
I will go back and read all the posts properly when I am dressed and presentable.

A late good morning from Shropshire.We had booked to go for a walk at Powis Castle today but if the heavy rain continues it will be a staying in day.

Our son in law has woken with a continuous cough so has gone for a Covid test.He is a teacher so won’t be surprised if he has Covid but really hope not.Hoping for a negative test for you too Ashcombe.

So sorry your bank has been hacked Bellasnanna.It happened to us too a few years ago.The bank alerted us and we had the money back but it’s a horrible feeling for you?

Hoping to wander down to the local Sunday market but it is raining so, will see how it goes.
Still trying to find the motivation to put up some decorations. With just DH , MIL and myself in the house for at least the next month it hardly seems worth the effort.
Roll on next Sunday when the family will be doing gift swap overs. At least we can see them outside in the flesh. Better than nothing.

Talking about books, I ordered the book for my nephew's Christmas that I think you talked about a while ago Urmston, Shuggie Bain'. I suddenly woke up and remembered that, long ago his mum had a problem with alcohol so it is probably not the right choice of gift. I'm so glad that happened, foot so nearly in it, but aren't these sudden insights strange? One's brain working away-thank goodness.

Morning all from a very wet North Leicestershire and (probably) our hall.

The slate man really impressed us but did say that our rubber coating, while a good idea, had been done incorrectly and we need to get the installers back. Meanwhile, he is coming back next week with cameras and other implements to see if they can find any other ptoblems. I'm thinking of putting Christmas lights round the hole in the hall.

Finishing the decorations today and starting the wrapping. Baubles, I've been saving boxes too for exactly the same reason! Great minds and all that.

Marsala chicken for dinner with fried potatoes, roast tomatoes and peas.

Good morning All from a dreich Polmont. It seems to be the norm this season. A special ? for Bellasnanna what a horrible thing to happen. MawBe that gin sounds very nice. I would like that! I had an unsettled night but that's usually the case. I did manage to sleep off and on til eight though so I count that a success. I am doing nothing today. I will wrap some presents and that's about all. Steak pie for tea. Have a good Sunday all.

Its a busy old thread this morning! I remember when I used to be either the second or third person posting. There was friendly rivalry between NanKate and I to see who was first! Impossible now to get moving that early.

Mick, my family are all in to speciality beer. My SIL spotted some in our garage on Friday and started looking at it, not realising that it was part of his Christmas. ?

Bellasnanna, my heart goes out to you today. What a worry, but glad to hear that the bank are on the ball. Today of all days, it was the last thing you needed.
It happened to me, but it was an email from Amex to say my card had been stopped, which alerted me. Of course, being the tech geek I am, I thought it was a scam and didn't call the phone number given.
On reflection, I phoned the number on the back of my card.
The first thing the agent said was, Are you calling about the fraud? ?
Apparently someone in New York was trying to use my card on a porn site! It was horrible feeling, especially as we were about to go on holiday and our cards had to be stopped.
In fact if I remember correctly it was on of our many trips Malta we were going.
Please be gentle with yourself today. ?

Baubles , I too have a stash of brown paper, it can look very effective. Recently my SIL came recently to ask me to wrap some gifts in brown paper (it had to be brown paper) to send to the USA. t

Urmston I felt a tear in my eye, when I read your post. I would give anything for a hug from my children and DGD, but it it just ain't happening. ? What a lovely day you had.

During the night, I got up to go to the loo, but could see it was very bright outside. I saw what looked like a fire through the frosted glass.
I went to investigate and it turned out the the people in the new development across the field were all trying to outdo each other with Christmas light displays! ?
Leaving the lights on all night must be costing a fortune!

Sending hugs to all our friends here, who are struggling and there are quite a few at the moment.

DH has brought me the Sunday papers, so I shall lie on for a bit and read the scandal, gossip latest news.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s very grey again so I’m expecting rain later.
DD2 is here for the weekend. We are in a bubble and she needed to have some time away from her home. Being single and WFH has its challenges. She is still fast asleep. Brunch later.
We had planned a walk today but as it’s been so wet the mud is putting us off a bit. I think we may settle down with some Christmas films instead.

Good morning from dark and drizzly N Bucks.

Got my little tree up yesterday plus a garland or two but it was sad to leave so many Christmas decs up in the loft - bought over the years for a big tree and a houseful of the family. The olive wood and meerschaum crib from Paw’s early childhood in Switzerland went up too and I shed a tear at the thought of all the years he and his parents, brother and sisters would have looked at it. Some objects do “retain” so much family and personal history don’t they?
The low point of the afternoon was when all the sockets in the house went off. I checked the fuse board which looked unchanged and had overhead lights, heating and the cooker - but it would have meant no Strictly as my iPad was nearly out of battery, mobile nearly flat as well as no outside lights, dishwasher etc
My lovely neighbour’s husband came round and had the confidence to flick one particular switch and phew -there was power!
Today it will be writing village cards which I can deliver by hand once it stops raining, wrapping a few presents and bottling my pink grapefruit and pomegranate gin.

Good morning all. I’ve been awake since 4. Very unusual for me and I haven’t stopped sneezing (Again). Haven’t got a cold but have bouts of sneezing throughout the day. I’ve used all my tissues up and am now on kitchen roll. ?.

DG1 stopped by yesterday on her way to her mum’s and we had a chat through the open window. She’s just back from Uni so couldn’t have her in. I walked her back to the bus stop early evening with little pooch, so we were able to have a catch-up in the open air. She wore her mask as we chatted, bless her.

Bellasnanna what an upset for you. It will get sorted ?. But you’re right when you say ‘there’s always something to bring us down to earth’. I’m never complacent (just in case) ?

Good morning all from a damp, dark S Hants. Managed seven hours straight sleep for the last two nights, great. Kitchen furniture assembled yesterday and that’s the kitchen, apart from ‘bits’ completed, shame no one else can share it!
Sausage meat out of the freezer later to make stuffing tomorrow, my dear Dads recipe and bringing the tree in to decorate. Well some of you are unsettled, hacked banks, reluctant vicars and Covid tests amongst others, things life throws at us when we are all teetering along. All of us could do with a giant hug to comfort and all I can manage to send is a ?

It’s piddling down in South Yorkshire and I can’t believe I’m saying this but we are off to watch a junior football match this morning, so it will be full waterproofs. I was hoping that it would be called off but no such luck! I’ll probably be in bed with pneumonia at Christmas!
I did something silly yesterday - I ordered a book from A****n for DH for Christmas and accidentally ordered the Kindle version too! Not sure how that happened. Managed to return it this morning fortunately.

Once I found very strange purchases on PayPal to the tune of £200 . It was eventually reinstated but because my bank account was then overdrawn, I was fined.
DFiL is still hanging in there. He's on oxygen yet still eating and drinking but he's also sleeping a lot and no-one can visit him.
I hope you don't have Covid Ashcombe.

Yesterday my brother came for coffee. He lives alone so is in our bubble. Our niece had asked for our childhood memories of our eldest brother for his funeral service this week so we reminisced about that and came up with a few thoughts to pass on to her.

I didn't leave the house yesterday. It's nice sometimes not having to go out, as I usually always have to for some reason. I feel better that I've caught up with a few jobs I had lined up. Today I'm determined to make that Christmas face mask.

Good Morning everyone from sun just coming up in South of Franceland.

Fed up as still struggling with no internet. Using ‘phone for anything ambitious is very frustrating. SFR, our provider, are being their usual useless selves. Listen to me, moaning when it’s not even breakfast time here yet!

Worse things are happening all around - Bella I do feel for you. That happened to me a few years ago. My spending spree experience was conducted in Ireland. I’ve never been there. I recall the shock and the feeling of helplessness and anger, but when you ask around and hear just how easily it happens to lots of people, and the Bank confirms you get it all back, it’s a lot easier to cope with. May you soon feel lots better about it. Remember your dear friend with affection and the shared times you had. ?

Brrrrr! A cold and windy good morning all from north Wales where I’ve just trotted out for a paper! The chamberpot is steaming - ha ha, I did like typing that ?

Lovely to see the boys pictures yesterday - wish I had a squiggy little grandson up to all sorts!

How awful to be hacked Bellasnana but marvellous that the bank are on the case especially at the weekend, that must be some solace.

Will wrap presents today and sort out my tree n trimmings but won’t put it up til next weekend- I’m a proper tailend Charlie compared to you lot, aren’t I!?
