Bellasnana, that’s a pain in the bahookie for you, I hope the bank sort it out quickly.

I got a few things wrapped yesterday. I set up my wrapping station in the bedroom, ironing board with bin liner taped on for catching the rubbish, box of trimmings and rolls of paper to hand and Alexa playing the Archers Omnibus for company.
I’ve been collecting boxes from all my deliveries over the past few weeks so that I could give everyone just one parcel with all the awkwardly shaped gift individually wrapped in pretty paper or tissue inside. I’m using brown paper and string to wrap the actual boxes. The plan is to do a few every day this week.

In the time it takes to write my post on my phone lots more people have listed so I’ll go back and read them all now.

A very chilly, still, bright morning here in the north of Norfolk, but the apricot sky makes me think the wet and windy weather is heading this way.

Nothing planned today. I've somehow managed to strain my wrist and its very swollen and sore. No idea what I did to it. Its just happened. I suspect oldageitis. Bloomin' nuisance though.

I don't need to see what the weather's doing---I can hear it ! Rain lashing down. It was alright when I put the cats out earlier, damp but not raining then.

20 past 5 seems to be a regular waking time for me of late but because I sleep deeply I'm not overly bothered about rising early. I couldn't go back to sleep again or I'd be groggy.

The old Tom cat appeared at 6pm last night so goodness knows where he'd been. Most likely shut in somewhere if he'd wandered. He's had his breakfast and is now snuggled in his kennel with his new fleece. I did worry about him because of his old age.

Cooked the beef yesterday for todays feast dinner, so will do roast pots carrot and turnip and broccoli with that later. Not much dripping from the beef but some nice juice for the gravy.

I think I'll give the post box a miss today if this rain keeps up, no point in getting drenched for the sake of posting a few cards. I don't feel the same " urgency " this year with anything having sunk into lazyitis mode.

Bellasnana I really feel for you at what has happened. I can't think of anything worse and hope you get reimbursed x .On top of the sadness of your friend too.

Good morning from the NE where it is dark and damp.
Another day where no deliveries arrived.
DS asked what we were going to do about Christmas, I told him there would be no family gathering this year as we remain extremely vulnerable. Usually we organise a meal out and then everyone comes back to our house and we do tea or supper but we are not physically capable this year.
We have three birthdays next week, thankfully I got organised early and gifts have already arrived at destination.
Bellasnana, I can imagine how you felt when you read your messages, it makes you feel sick to your stomach.

DH will be going to rugby with his DGS's, rather him than me.
I'm going to make a casserole for dinner and wrap some presents, listening to my kind of music.
Bellasnana so sorry to hear your news but glad the bank are going to refund the money. Not a nice feeling.

Good morning everyone from a dark and cold East Northants. Have had a much better night, as I remembered to take my painkillers an hour or so before bedtime. Oh dear, Bellasnana what a dreadful thing to wake up to. Luckily your bank are on to it. I dread that happening.

Not much planned for today at DD's, will catch up with some reading. Then home this afternoon, when DS-in-law is hoping to fit a new outside light above my back door. It has been playing up recently, flashing on and off madly.

I think that's very poor of your church, grandMattie. Our local rector has rung everyone, and also the members of their Wednesday afternoon club, which has not been able to meet since March.

A text from DS yesterday to say he is in self isolation for 10 days, as he has been in contact with someone at work who has developed Covid. Last contact was 5 days ago, and he has no symptoms as yet, so he is feeling hopeful. He will be free just before Christmas.

Hope today treats us all well.

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s raining hard and dark. Here you go Ashcombe a better photo this morning showing the illuminated star on our parish church!

Yesterday was joyful indeed. After my ‘flu jab (where a new pharmacist told me I didn’t look old enough to be requesting the over 65y one - I told him he could be my new best friend) it was off to see the family! Our Covid warrior went to get her hair done, son in law disappeared to visit his brother and we had a wonderful hour with the 8y old grandson and the (next month) 4y old granddaughter. She kept cuddling me, wanting to sit on my lap, came upstairs with me when I needed the bathroom and held my hand (I’d forgotten how tiny little hands hands feel) all the time in the kitchen when I made a cuppa. Grandson gave me the biggest hug and said ‘I’ve really missed you grandma’.

After that it was over to see my stepfather. He opened the door and we hugged. We both felt quite emotional. Himself had a couple of ‘wee drams’ with him. I had cola as I’m still teetotal for a while, 3 weeks in. We are in a support bubble so can visit whenever we choose apparently. It was a lovely visit.

When we got home at 5pm Himself settled down to watch the local football derby. A draw - always the best really in my opinion. I rang our Covid warrior. She reminded me, quite rightly, that ‘this is a childcare bubble only mum, so we can’t just meet up when we’d like as it’s not fair to everyone else who are sticking to the rules’.

As rain is in for the day our planned walk round the park won’t be happening so I’ll finish off my Christmas cards and make a roast chicken dinner.

Hope Sunday is kind to us all. What a nuisance Bellasnana about your hacked bank card. Fortunately you’ll get your euros back but the concern will be ‘how on earth did it happen’. Hopefully the bank can work it out. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Oh no Bellasnanna I’m so sorry to hear that! What a worry that is - even though you’ll get your money back from the bank it’s still awful and I feel for you. Try not to worry, these things do happen and there’s nothing much you can do about it.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark, cold and wet.
dwmxwg it’s great that you’ve finished work until after Christmas - I remember from my work days how lovely that felt!
Yesterday we had light rain for most of the day but I still went for a walk in town by the riverside - it’s always an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so. I went into the cathedral for a quiet 10 minutes and then had a lovely soup for lunch at a local cafe. I got home late afternoon and didn’t move much off the sofa for the rest of the evening!
Today we’re meeting DD2 and family for a game of ten pin bowling, it’s a treat for DGD who’s 6th birthday is next week.
Ashcombe fingers and everything crossed your test is negative, take care and I hope you feel better soon

Good morning everyone and those who will follow Bellasnana how awful for you, luckily the bank are on the case, but it will require some days of messing about for you and I really sympathise.
Mick your Sunday lunch sounds delicious, we are on another diet before Christmas so I can only be jealous whilst I eat some wet lettuce and a cold tomato, it’s always a trying time, weight wise, made worse by being shut in for most of this year.
It hit me on Friday when the courier came to collect the Christmas presents for DD and Grandchildren that we really aren’t going to see them this year, thank goodness for Face time and zoom and I know others are far worse off then we are, but somehow it doesn’t help.
It’s too dark to see the weather here in Oxfordshire, but I hope you all have a good and safe day.

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels cold.
I had a lovely 2 days with DGS and DH.
DGS made us laugh when our friend who is on the larger side asked him if he was having a little sister and DGS promptly lifted up our friends jumper to pat his belly?
A day of cleaning and sorting for me today, I will nip to the craft shop to collect my very first cross stitch!
Grandmattie I do hop Iris is continuing to improve. Ashcombe hope your test is negative.

Good morning from Malta where it is cloudy but dry so far.

I’m afraid I’m in a state this morning. I heard my phone making a lot of ‘pings’ in the night but thought it was DGD sending me her drawings, which she sometimes does, so didn’t check it.

Imagine my horror when I woke up and looked at the string of notifications from my bank with a list of purchases made on my card. Yes, I’ve been hacked and cleaned out of a lot of money. The bank has assured me I will get it back, but I just feel so vulnerable as I have no idea how it has happened.

On top of that, today my lovely friend who died in August should have been celebrating her 74th birthday.

Sorry to be a misery this morning , I have been feeling quite cheerful lately so suspected there would be something to bring me down to earth.?

Good morning, Mick and all who follow from a very soggy Torbay! It sounds like you have some suitable treats for Christmas, Mick.

Yesterday was sunny for most of the day and I enjoyed lunch at the home of my bubble buddy, as she calls herself!

Although my cold is subsiding, it has left me with an annoying cough. DD2, who is a Dep HT and dealing with this daily at work, strongly advised a Covid test which I have booked for later this morning. It is at a drive thru centre in Torquay. When I booked it online, I was surprised to discover that tests are recommended, even if you only have one significant symptom.

It has put paid to plans for church as I should self isolate until the result is known. At least I know what to expect as in August I self administered a test at home as part of a research project with which I’m involved.

grandMattie, I should think a restful day yesterday was just what you needed after your busy and worrying days caused by Lily's surgery. How disappointing that your Vicar hasn’t been in touch for so long.

Good morningMick and all to come. Cold here in north Surrey, had to scrape the ice off the windscreen when I finished work last night.
Mick hope you enjoy your beers, my son likes to sample different ales and is missing his annual Christmas ale trail in London this year.
A nice feeling for me that work is finished now until after Christmas and have worked out I can visit mum and dad tomorrow as there were no COVID patients this weekend and the quarantine days have decreased to 10.
I have a Marydoll empty today. DH is visiting his son and DGD for their Christmas meet up and has then got tickets in the ballot to see his team play. Am quite looking forward to a day with just me and the dog. A walk and the gym and more present wrapping I think will be enough to keep me occupied.

I did nothing yesterday as I felt really tired, had a nap too. Easy dinner, sauerkraut.
Today, online church and not a lot really. ++ rugby so shall spend a lonely afternoon.
We got the service times for Christmas Day. Quite honestly, for the first time, I really don’t feel like going to church. The vicar has ignored us, no personal contact in nearly 9 months. Surely he could have managed something? So, as I have the unexpected opportunity of seeing DD on Christmas Day, I’ll watch her online!
