Just popping back to respond to grandMattie: what a lot of mince pies! Your reluctance to bake this year is understandable, given the time you’ve spent on sewing for Iris.

My apologies for the lunch boast which wasn’t tactful, given the number of folk in Tier 3, especially grandMattie and Beauregard.

That decoration is truly special, Lins and has lasted well!

There’s always C5+1 (channel 45 on my set) if that helps, GravyGranny.

I would have cried, too, kittylester but tears are never far away at present, which others experience too, so they tell me.

Good morning all from a dark S Hants, we have rain forecast and it’s breezy. Thank you all for the kitchen compliments, we are very happy with it.
I took my library books back yesterday and picked up some news ones they had chosen for me. It’s an online scheme where you select the genres you prefer, I hope they check my history of previous reads.
Nothing much on today, making a cottage pie for tonight and a couple of bits to drop to DD, GS is out of latest isolation at lunchtime.
I’m going to be seeking out at least a chink of light today, I hope you all find one too.

Beauregard Fri 18-Dec-20 07:41:51

Good morning all from a very wet Derbyshire.

I posted so late yesterday so I'd like to repeat my heartfelt thanks to everyone who sent their support and kind thoughts which really helped me through the day on Wednesday.

This morning we're calling in on my other brother with a card as it's his birthday. He lives just up the road and is in our bubble. We also have some Christmas cards to deliver once I've hurriedly written them

Lins what a beautiful Nativity Christmas tree decoration, a real treasure
grandMattie I love a couple of mince pies with my coffee for breakfast as a special Christmas treat. I've only got a box of six though to stop me indulging too often.
Ashcombe and NanKate I've got lunch envy. My much hoped for meeting up with a friend for our annual Christmas lunch at a local restaurant won't be going ahead now that were staying in Tier 3.

Hope Friday is a good day for all. flowers to those struggling with illness, sadness or worries.

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, wet and windy corner of Somerset. Plan to ‘encourage’ Mr C to finish the jigsaw currently filling the dining table. Me? Absolutely no idea other than I have no plan to be outside in the wind and rain. Take care everyone. Thinking of you all, especially those with heavy hearts.

Nortsat Fri 18-Dec-20 07:40:48

Good morning Mick and the GM team from east London, where it is dark.

Lovely to see your Nativity ornament Lins. It’s so nice to have something which belonged to your grandparents. It’s a lovely thing and so dainty. As we said yesterday, 1/9 was probably quite a lot of money..

My picture is ‘the Angel of Friendship’, which I have shared with another GN on another thread. My cousin sent it to me, she makes handicrafts for her Church.

We had our new boiler installed yesterday and all went smoothly, but Ollie and Minnie, two of our three cats hid in the garden all day. They didn’t like the plumbers and the electricians tramping in and out of the house.

The side effects of my meds are troubling me today ... but at least we have a warm house and an energy efficient boiler.

Hope Iris is continuing to make good progress. Hope Cherry and Maryd both had a decent night.
Would like to know that MellowYellow is ok and of course thinking of gillybob.

Have a good day all. ?

Morning all from a warm ish but windy (possibly also rainy) North Leicestershire.

More wrapping today and a butcher's delivery. I need to go to the florist for something red berried. And, the roof men are coming with a camera thingy!

Yesterday, parcels arrived for dh and I from the children. We don'tdo grownup presents at Christmas but they wanted to cheer us up. It made me cry!!

Sending love to gilly, whether she is reading this or not. And, if you are gilly, please post.

Good morning Michael and all GNs. No idea what our weather is doing - it’s still dark - but I fancy it will rain today. We went into town yesterday for the first time in ages - a very quick visit to John Lewis and then home again. It wasn’t busy, but we didn’t hang around. DH wanted something to send to his sister in her care home. We had been told they were not allowed to have Christmas cards, presents, telephone calls or visitors. Now we’ve been told they are, so had to hurtle around and hope it will get there for Christmas! All very odd and upsetting. Not much going on here today.
Lins thankyou for posting that picture I could see it on the tree when you mentioned it, and was wondering what it looked like. It’s charming.
Have a good safe day folks.

Good morning Mick and all

Learning to ride a bike is in my bucket list Mick I have a bike and helmet in the garage ready and waiting!!!

We have the 11 month GS today so no rest, hopefully his nap will coincide with the Christmas film on Channel 5 Ashcombe

Pleased with my hair, I have had some highlights put through along with the lowlights, only had a slight trim as I keep it in a loose up do most of the time at the moment.

The numbers are rising quicker this time than back in March/April in our area, worrying months ahead.

It would be lovely to hear from our gillybob

Keep safe and well folks ???

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Back to the grey and windy weather this month after a beautiful day yesterday. We went to the coast and ate our lunch sitting on the sea wall.
When we got home, the tree went up, the last parcels were wrapped and the cards finished.
Very smug!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

NanKate Fri 18-Dec-20 07:19:35

Linns what a lovely decoration.

NanKate Fri 18-Dec-20 07:18:16

Morning Mick and All.

Too dark to say what it’s like in South Bucks.

Went out to lunch at our favourite Italian cafe yesterday and the owner came and told me we were moving to Tier 3 on Saturday. What a disappointment, but needs must.

The cleaner comes this morning for 3 hours, so we take ourselves out to give her full run of the house. Nothing else more thrilling to report.

Good morning Mick and all from a dark and damp S Welsh coast, not raining at the moment but there is an amber weather warning today. Zoom U3A Book Club at 10am, we are discussing 'The Familiars' about the 1612 Pendle Witch Hunt and trial. Nortsat requested a photo of the Nativity Christmas decoration on our tree, you can see the price on the back! The twine is the original too.
A delivery from the local butcher later and a Chinese from Sainsburys for supper. Wishing everyone a pleasant day and stay safe.

grandMattie Fri 18-Dec-20 06:46:39

Late good morning from dark Indy E Kent.
Brok a filling on Wednesday night, rang the dentist yesterday morning and was seen about two hours later! My dentist is a lovely woman, been going to her for 30 or so years...
Got a hair cut this morning and a WI Swedish dale horse lesson, as in making and decorating a stuffed one. Looking forward to that.
For the first time in about 50 years, I’m not making mince pies, although I’ve got some delicious homemade mincemeat. I just can’t get into the spirit. Some years back, I kept track of how many I made - 59 dozen! I was keeping my parents and an old neighbour supplied + DS2 would have 5 each day for breakfast...
Oh, Ash, it would be nice to meet someone for coffee. We’re in tier 3, and everyone seems to treat others as plague ridden. Next I’ll be ringing a bell shouting ”Unclean, unclean”! ?
Have a gentle day everyone. There IS and end to all this, only just not yet. Stay safe. X

Pantglas2 Fri 18-Dec-20 06:46:15

Morning Mick, Beechnut and all who follow - today’s the Day! ?trimming after a good bottoming which hasn’t been done this month I’m ashamed to say!

That kitchen of yours is lovely Jaxjacky- similar size to mine from what I can make out.

If I had a Fairy Godmother my wish for today would be to see Friday Girl- if you’re reading the thread, know that you’re missed!

Will pop back later with a pic of my paltry tree and see what you’re all up to......

Ashcombe Fri 18-Dec-20 06:36:31

Good morning from a wet and windy Torbay!

Yes, Mick, you’re right about how confusing the restrictions and relaxation of same will be! I’m staying at home for Christmas so maybe I’m “doing the right thing”! (That’ll be a first!)

I’m a sucker for the Christmas movies, Beechnut. Recently, I watched one and it was only when it reached the denouement that I realised I’d seen it before! Doh! ?

Yesterday, I met my “bubble buddy” at Pierre's Bistrot for an excellent lunch that included a complimentary bottle of wine! By the time we had finished, others were having afternoon tea! Further deals on offer in January, if we are still allowed to dine out.

Happy weekend to one and all with kind thoughts to those of heavy heart. ??⛄️???

Beechnut Fri 18-Dec-20 06:22:23

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It is wet and more rain to follow.

You’ve got something to read over Christmas Mick. I’m going to get something for myself too.

Off to do a shop this morning. I might settle down and do a nothing on Friday afternoon and watch one of those soppy Christmas films.

Your kitchen looks lovely Jaxjacky. My daughter has black and white.

Also lovely Christmas decorations and tree fro m you all.

Take care and thinking of those with troubles and worries ?

Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and its raining outside this morning in Brackley .
Yesterdays trip to Bicester for an hour worked well for me , I did my cafe stop for a coffee and pasty first , before going into the Sainsburys store , anyway got most of what I wanted , but I brought a copy of Cycling Weekly in there ,and was shown to a checkout which was vacant , but member of staff serving vert polite , she asked about why I had got the cycling magazine , told her that I had raced in the past but still follow the sport , I then went to WHS and got 2 rail magazines and then bus home .
Lucky locally at the moment in tier 3 a mile or so down the road in Bucks tier 3 , so will not be able to head that way tomorrow as we are not allowed to travel between tiers.
Then seems to change again over Christmas , confusing .
Take Care ,
Mick
