A light hearted look at Covid!

I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where we can post anything Covid related that actually gives you a chuckle rather than the usual doom and gloom that dampens our spirits.

I'll kick off with this very funny article by Richard Littlejohn. It had me chortling over my porridge this morning.

Oh Locked down town of Bethlehem.

Please post any funny overheard conversations, TV reviews, 'You couldn't make it up' observations etc., etc.,

Covid Humour is difficult right now for many of us. Our daughter just getting over 9 weeks of long Covid made us all anxious. So many folk are missing friends & relatives. Covid is still out there so laughing about it isn’t easy.

But as GG13 said it’s gallows-humour. If we didn’t laugh about it now and again we’d cry. I know I’m more emotional these days as the year has unfolded.

It has affected businesses too. People’s incomes etc.

However, in the spirit of this thread here’s my offering ....

Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed the article, the YouTube mash-up and the cartoon.
Am looking forward to starting my new Christmas puzzle, that should raise a smile too, anything that does that is worth its weight in gold at the moment.

Well I liked both of those. Thought the You tube song was funnier and cleverer.

Blossoming Fri 18-Dec-20 11:24:56

Not ready for this.

BlueSky Fri 18-Dec-20 11:18:09

MawBe tchgrin quite hilarious and so true! There are various videos going round with Christmas music adapted to the predicament we are in, with Boris and gang singing along. If you don’t laugh you cry, as they say. tchgrintchsad

I am so down in the dumps that I am grateful for anything lighthearted that raises a smile, gallows humour is rapidly settling in!

MawBe Fri 18-Dec-20 10:57:36

If you’re offended by Christmas or Covid cartoons - or worse, any combining both - look away now.

Well I thought it was tongue in cheek but know one is allowed even a laugh these days.

The article isn't too bad, it's typical of Littlejohn's ouvre.
It was the idea of 'A light hearted look at covid' thread that I didn't like the sound of.

Anniebach Fri 18-Dec-20 10:15:35

Cancer would be amusing ?

FannyCornforth Fri 18-Dec-20 10:14:51

Fun fact! Re in the article there is a photo of an old white haired fellow having the vaccination. The man pictured is actually hoofer Lionel Blair.

Don't worry Merlotgran you haven't 'ruined my day', I just said that it was 'bound to cause offence' -
and it already has.

Sorry, folks!

Don't mind me. I didn't mean to ruin anyone's day. confused

annodomini Fri 18-Dec-20 09:58:10

Tedious

Anniebach Fri 18-Dec-20 09:45:47

Sick

Lucretzia Fri 18-Dec-20 09:45:36

Not seen it on FB.

It's in The Mail

Which means some posters will absolutely loathe it.

I couldn't be bothered to read it all. It went on far too long

There is a song out there making fun ofBoris and his gang. Set to the tune of Do They Know it's Christmas

Not very amusing either

Lucca Fri 18-Dec-20 09:44:20

HELP. SORRY. Posted on totally wrong place......meant to be for something on family what’s app.??

Haven’t read it. But not a fan of RJ so probably won’t.

Bathsheba Fri 18-Dec-20 09:43:26

Very funny Merlot, don't think I could possibly follow that!

grannyrebel7 Fri 18-Dec-20 09:41:51

I don't like that either.

Lucca Fri 18-Dec-20 09:40:38

Horrible

Gransooz Fri 18-Dec-20 09:37:16

Oh I loved that. Fair cheered me up! ??

FannyCornforth Fri 18-Dec-20 09:29:51

No, I don't think that it's a good idea at all.
Personally, I'm not ready for it.
And more generally, it's bound to cause offence at one point or another.
Anyway - isn't Facebook full of that type of thing? That's why I don't have it.

So - I'm all for lifting spirits, but no thank you.

Juliet27 Fri 18-Dec-20 09:26:30

Brilliant ??

JenniferEccles Fri 18-Dec-20 09:23:54

Oh I love Littlejohn!
He probably needs a public health warning, especially to Guardian readers as he is delightfully non politically correct, but for the rest of us he is usually spot on.
I haven’t read today’s offering as I will get the paper shortly with my food shop.
