Too cloudy here, didn’t see anything. Even Mars seems to have gone!?

I have seen these planets in Suffolk for the last couple of nights as they get closer. Very bright.

Thank you Callistemon smile

Minimoon We may be lucky again on Tuesday. Here's some info.

Tomorrow night at sunset will be the actual alignment MiniMoon

I'm usually up to date with what is happening in the night sky.
I should jolly well hope so tchgrin

I missed it, I knew nothing about this alignment. How did I miss it? I'm usually up to date with what is happening in the night sky. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, although I'm not hopeful.

Oh yes!

"Are we there yet?"
"Nearly!"

Great photo, janeainsworth

Well amazingly the sky towards the west was clear in Northumberland as the sun was setting.
This was taken looking south-west from the Military Road near Wylam, Northumberland.
You'll have to open the image to see the planets.

Oopsadaisy1

Pity it isn’t Jupiter aligning with Mars.

We could do with some Peace on the planet and love filling the air.

Cue for a song!

Callistemon Sun 20-Dec-20 19:15:29

Apparently you need to look South-west just after sunset.

Callistemon Sun 20-Dec-20 19:12:19

? it will be clear.
I can't wait another 400 years.

Grammaretto Sun 20-Dec-20 18:50:15

The moon is looking very nice tonight and there are several stars visible but I can't see anything really bright.

Spangler Sun 20-Dec-20 15:10:17

It's also, by coincidence, or perhaps contrived, the winter solstice. Has anyone seen my wife?

Grammaretto Sun 20-Dec-20 15:09:39

Not looking promising here in the Scottish Borders but I will certainly get outside and look.

We’re hoping to see it. Can still see Mars most nights.

Persistent cloud where I am sad

FannyCornforth Sun 20-Dec-20 13:57:02

janeainsworth and if visibility is poor where you are (you lucky thing!)
we've got no chance.

janeainsworth Sun 20-Dec-20 13:53:47

The weather isn’t looking good here in Northumberland but I have read that the conjunction is also visible each day either side of Monday.
But today’s not looking good either sad

Fingers crossed for clear skies. We missed the Geminid meteor shower this year because of the weather.

or as close as it might get.
Good timings, look in the direction of where the sun sets.
45 minutes after the sun goes to bed,
is where Saturn and Jupiter will be.
Until they both disapper over the horizon by about 18:25pm.
Lets hope for clear sky's
