Good morning everyone from a very cold and frosty South Glos.

Nothing planned for today/tonight and will go to bed at usual time with a good book and my cat. This is my exciting life ! smile

Thanks to everyone for being here during these difficult and isolated times when the Internet is my greatest friend.

Caring thoughts to all of you who have heavy hearts for whatever reason, but we have survived 2020, maybe a bit battered but we've got there, and now it's onwards and upwards with hope. Wishing everyone a New Year full of good health, fun and laughter (all those things we miss).

Good morning Mick and all from a frosty S Hants, I posted earlier, but Google Chrome is playing up, so started again.
Marydoll here’s hoping your day improves over your night. BlueSapphire excellent news, relief I imagine.
No real plans, must, must go for a walk when the frost has gone, either DH or I need to nip to village shop as my delivery today txt earlier, morning wake up call, for a couple of bits missing later. I have 2 rib eye steaks for dinner, a couple of Christmas crackers left, that’ll do us.
This year has been despairing and surreal, one of the best things for me has been being welcomed to GN, I thank you all. May we all move into 2021 gently with some hope in our hearts for improved times.

Good morning from a frosty Essex. Im Glad the carparks have been closed along the seafront Sar. It should help with deterring crowds from descending on us.

I had a trip to the local store, butchers and greengrocers yesterday. Should keep us going for a while. Felt quite safe.
When I walk little pooch , I feel safe until a jogger comes puffing towards me. They usually keep a wide berth and go into the road as they pass but yesterday, coming along a narrow alleyway, a young jogger came straight towards me. Very worrying.

We’ll probably see the New Year in and raise a glass to a better 2021.

Keep safe and well , everyone ?

Good morning from a cold, frosty Norfolk.

Not much on today, won’t stay up tonight but we always have lots of fireworks around us so expect we will be awake. We seem to have fireworks for all celebrations around here!

Started knitting some challenging patterns so will snuggle on sofa with an old film this afternoon and maybe a quick stroll on the coast.

All the family spread across the country are now in Tier 4 so more zoom calls now. Zoom quiz tonight which will be nice.

Hoping for better times ahead and that all GNs have a safe new year.

Good Morning everyone from a sunny 12C S of ??

Well, we’ve stuck with it, laughed and cried, moaned and cheered and muddled through a beast of a year together. I couldn’t imagine being with a more kindly, warm hearted, generous and brave bunch of people during some really difficult times.

Bless you all, thank you all for company and friendship and may you find better times, better health and happiness always.
? for a New Year of hope and good luck to us all.
Biggest hugs and lots of love xxx????‍♀️???xxx

Good morning, Mick and everyone from Lueneburg. A quiet day today (like most days in this corona year)- no fireworks. I am taking my sausage dog Waldi for a walk in the local forest.
Wishing all GNS a happy, much more normal 2021.
Take care and stay negativ (in a positiv way).
So, see you all in 2021.
xx

Greyduster Thu 31-Dec-20 08:35:50

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s a very cold, clear and frosty South Yorkshire morning - and I have woken up with a cold. So much for all the vitamin C and zinc I’ve been taking. Time to break out the elderberry cordial I think! Or the sloe gin.......
Nothing much planned for today. DH is getting a much needed haircut, and I am making a curry. Doubt if we’ll still be awake to welcome in the New Year. Whatever you are doing today, stay safe.

Good Morning from a very freezing cold Black Country. The sky is very red. Still ice and snow lying around.

Last year we spent the evening in a local pub with a band, and said that we must do that again next New Year. How wrong we were!

Quiet night in, with a meal supplied by 'Cook'.

As expected we are now in Tier 4! Not much change for us really, as we haven't been to the gym since March, and I haven't been to the hairdressers since then either. The only big change will be that cannot meet with more than one outside.

Thank you Mick and all here for your company. It has lifted the spirits hearing all about your lives.

Sorry you had a bad night Marydoll a gentle hug from me.

Wishing you all a good and safe day, with special thoughts to gilly who I hope will be back with us soon.

Oldbutstilluseful Thu 31-Dec-20 08:27:07

Good morning from a cold and frosty N Hants. Marydoll if I wish anything for anyone this coming year, it is that you are able to recover some good health and finally get the treatment you need. You are one brave woman.

Quiet day today, hopefully a solitary walk, although I spend most of mine stepping into the road as the world and his wife seem to be out and about at the moment.

2020 will become a footnote in history and people will read about it in years to come. ?for 2021 and the vaccine rollout. Thank goodness for scientists, their names should be writ large.

Urmstongran Thu 31-Dec-20 08:24:58

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where I was surprised to see thick snow! The sky just looks white so I bet we get more later.

The grandchildren are coming over for lunch (Greggs? Haha! They like the ‘treat’ then an ice cream from Thornton’s - both just downstairs in the square).
#lazygran

Their mummy goes back to work on Monday (an inset day) and I suggested a couple of hours in her house on her own so that she get do some planning on her laptop for next week.

Other than that, no plans. Snow is persuading me to just hunker down this afternoon. We’ve invited my stepfather for lunch tomorrow. He is in our bubble so it’s allowed. Curry for us tonight & decide later whether to see in the NY.

Like all of us I’ll be glad to consign this year to memory. Hope Thursday and NYE is good to us all. Still hoping to hear from gillybob soon. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. A vaccine is just around the corner thank god. x

Good morning from Leicestershire where everything is covered in a layer of frost.

Not much planned today.

I too will be pleased to see the end of this year as I was last year also.
May we all have a Healthy 2021!

BlueSapphire Thu 31-Dec-20 08:23:48

Hello and good morning from a very cold and frosty Northampton. It's grey and dull outside and I have had to put a rug over my knees to keep warm.

Glad to say my hospital appointment went well yesterday, and the outcome was what I hoped for - all clear. I felt more worried about catching Covid there really, but there were not many people about. I kept my mask on tightly, tried not to touch anything, was sanitizing my hands frequently, and kept my distance (apart from being seen by the consultant and radiographer). I opened a mini bottle of fizz when I got home!

No plans for today, except put a load of washing on. Then I shall read, play around with my new coffee machine, watch some tv. Think I might make a Bolognese for dinner (which means braving the cold of the garage to get some mince from the freezer). Think I am going to make some porridge for breakfast.

We are now in Tier 4, which won't make a lot of difference - I shall carry on doing the same - stay in, shop online, let Sainsbury's deliver and only see DD and her husband who are in my bubble. Since last week people were coming into our county to shop and eat out from neighbouring tier 4 areas, and at least that has stopped now.

Take care everyone, and stay safe.

aggie Thu 31-Dec-20 08:21:24

Good Morning all, we have a dusting of snow overnight , no plans to go out so I just admire it from my chair !

ginny Thu 31-Dec-20 08:19:30

Good Morning. Jack Frost has been busy here in N. Bucks. Thankfully no snow.
We shall have FaceTime calls with family today which will be lovely.
Hopefully we will manage a short walk but otherwise just a few household jobs.

We won’t be staying up to see in the New Year but will be glad to greet it tomorrow and hope it will be far better for us all eventually.

Hope you all find a ?today.

Maggiemaybe Thu 31-Dec-20 08:18:17

Good morning all from a cold and very frosty West Yorkshire. Looks like another day in, as I’m still recovering from a broken arm and have no desire for another. Thank goodness for YouTube exercise videos!

Wishing everyone the best New Year possible. Most people will be glad to see the back of this one, even though for us it wasn’t all bad, as it brought us our darling DGS6. smile We have a family zoom quiz tonight and we’ll put on our glad rags at this end and open the bubbly to toast better times on the horizon. Here’s to us all. wine

cornergran Thu 31-Dec-20 08:14:30

Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, frosty corner of Somerset. Slept like the proverbial log last night, I’m sorry your night was difficult marydoll, rest now if you can. No change to our Tier level, it’s a case of carrying on carrying on with as much good humour as we can summon. Sometimes not a lot of it here if I’m honest. Off out for a walk this morning, some computer faffing later then it’s a couple of phone calls before feet up time and relax. Look after yourselves everyone, special thoughts for those finding life hard going.

Pittcity Thu 31-Dec-20 08:13:46

Good morning from a frosty Colchester. The temperature is forecast to be below freezing all day.
I won't be going anywhere.
Jay's online pub quiz tonight with the family and will probably kick 2020 into oblivion from the warmth of bed.

Gagagran Thu 31-Dec-20 08:11:47

Morning all! By jingo it's a cold one here on the south coast. No snow but plenty of frost on the roofs and cars. Just glad we don't need to go anywhere and have a warm and cosy home. I always think of rough sleepers trying to find a warm spot when it's like this. Poor souls.

The end of a momentous year in so many different ways. Certainly for us with DH's cancer diagnosis and surgery (and more to come) along with covid stalking the country and all the political goings on. It is not a year I shall remember with nostalgia.

Onwards and upwards into 2021 and the old wish of "health, wealth and happiness" still seems apt to me so that is what I wish all Grans. sunshine

Sar53 Thu 31-Dec-20 08:03:29

Everyone should read evening

Sar53 Thu 31-Dec-20 08:00:56

Good morning from a very frosty Essex by the sea.
I've not slept well as I had some worrying news from DD2 yesterday and it played on my mind in the middle of the night, as these things do.
Our local council has decided to shut all seafront car parks and suspend parking bays, to deter people from out of town descending on us over the new year. Good on them I say.
We are having a family Zoom quiz this everyone and will raise a glass to each other as we say goodbye to a miserable 2020.
Thank you all for your kindness and support and let's hope that 2021 is a much better year xx

NotAGran55 Thu 31-Dec-20 07:59:39

Good morning from West Berkshire.
Grocery shopping this morning and then chilling for the rest of the day in front of the open fire ?.

Good riddance to 2020 and bring on 2021 and happy healthy times .

Dwmxwg Thu 31-Dec-20 07:57:28

Good morning from another frosty north Surrey
Yesterday I managed 2 long walks, one with the dog and the other with DD and DGSs
Shall pop in again on mum and dad this morning. Their neighbour is due home from hospital and I have to keep reminding parents not to go in his home or let him in theirs. Dad gets it but unfortunately mum, who has always been the kindly good neighbour just doesn’t retain the information
DD is working tonight and tomorrow night so the DGSs will be coming to stay until Saturday afternoon. They want to stay up to see the new year in but I am sure I won’t. DH always does so he will be in charge.
As others have said I will be glad to see this year gone. With the two vaccines on offer the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. Here’s to a healthy and happy 2021

Lins1066 Thu 31-Dec-20 07:56:04

Good morning Mick and all from the S Welsh coast. A thick covering of frost, a clear sky and a rose pink sunrise, it is really beautiful and looking west the moon is still visible.
I was awake early and am now back in bed with a mug of tea and some toasted teacake. Mr Lins has taken the puppy for a walk, I will wait until the streets are aired. I envy your visit to the hairdressers Bellasnana we should have seen ours on the 23rd but cancelled due to being put in Tier 4.
Some ironing and tidying up on the cards today, not much else. We will have sirloin steak, new potatoes and mushrooms today so looking forward to that and a bottle of bubbly this evening.
Hope that New Year's Eve will be a pleasant day for us all and stay safe.

Marydoll Thu 31-Dec-20 07:41:07

Good morning all from a very cold Glasgow, its -3°C.

I've not had a great night, so I won't linger. Wishing you all as good a Hogmanay you can have.
I for one will not be sorry to see the last of 2020!
Thank you all for your lovely company in the last year.

kittylester Thu 31-Dec-20 07:36:55

Good morning all from an exceedingly cold North Leicestershire.

Nothing much going on here!

Have a good day all!
