Good morning from a dark, damp, cold Colchester.
A trip to Lidl, which is 5 minutes walk from us, is today's highlight.
The postie is bringing the last of my sale bargains and my regular prescription.
I've had a plea from DD, who is a Royal Mail manager, to ask everyone to stop ordering unnecessary items that are delivered via Royal Mail so that they can concentrate on getting vital supplies and letters out and get through the huge backlog.

Mick we get our takeaways delivered at least once a week to help support local business.

Good morning from another wet and miserable day in Essex by the sea.
It feels like groundhog day, again.
I have an opticians appointment this morning which I assume will go ahead, must check before I leave.
My granddaughter had a lovely birthday yesterday, there was a Facetime call, video and lots of pictures. She had a Frozen/Unicorn themed birthday tea, oh to be three !!!
Another lockdown is not where we want to be, but we can do this and come out the other side. Look after yourselves, stay safe and try and find something positive every day.
Much love and best wishes to you all xxx

Morning all from a dry north Wales where I’m enjoying the chamberpot in bed as DH has a delivery from builders merchants and he did the necessary......?

Such depressing news for England and Scotland (we’ve gotten used to lockdown, Firebreak, here in Wales) and it’s hard to see that light of hope amongst the dark and gloom?. Hurry with the jabs ?? and keep disinfecting and distancing is my go to happy ? place!

Sorry to hear so many under the weather etc but good that you’re getting appts/treatments sorted, Baubles, Ashcombe et al x

Will pop in later and read about your bizzinesses, birthdays and yes, even the boring bits, such is my own life at the moment ?

Good morning Mick and All.

Cloudy and cold in South Bucks.

Thank you Ashcombe for the lovely picture. It was just what I needed. I don’t know why I feel a bit shocked by a return to another Lockdown, it was inevitable.

Today I have my WI Zoom. I have a 10 minute slot to play and talk about a piece of music that means something to me. I have chosen the Prologue to the 1961 musical Westside Story. My father ran a cinema company and we lived in Stratford upon Avon at the time, so that is where my love of films and the theatre came from. He was invited (with all the family) to the Premiere in Birmingham. I imagined it would be an occasion of champagne and photographers, in reality it was tea and biscuits at the matinee. My teenage self was mesmerised by the colourful clothes and fabulous dancing and singing. At the end of the film the audience broke out into spontaneous applause. ? what a great memory. The film is available on Netflix now. Happy days.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, waking up again to a bit more overnight snow which isn’t going anywhere. I think the temperature here hasn’t got much above zero for the last few days ?
Yesterday plans changed when DD2 messaged to say she was walking into town with the DGC to visit the park and did we want to come. It was nice to be asked so off we went and had a good time even though it was icy underfoot.. When we were walking back by the river we saw an otter playing in the water, it was lovely to see and the first time I’ve seen one in the River Ness. Then we found out about the new lockdown rules so I’m pleased we went out when we did
Both of my DDs like so many others will be working from home now and trying to juggle working with homeschooling so I don’t envy them, they’re both worried about their jobs too....let’s all hope this vaccine hurries up and there’s no hiccups with the roll out
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today, take care all whatever the day brings ?

One thing I forgot to Mention , I am gradually going through my Parsley Box meals, and finding them tasty, if done in microwave at the right setting , will re order more in a few weeks.

Good morning all! North Leicestershire is very cold again.

Enjoy your days everyone.

Grammaretto Tue 05-Jan-21 07:42:22

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's snowing so I won't be going out at all.
I'm glad your hospital appt went smoothly Ash.
I am sure takeaways will stay open Mick
I wonder what the future holds.

Good morning Mick and all from a cold, dark S Hants, due to be very cold today. Up early as DH back to work, when I see a bit of light, I’ll be off to the farm shop. Not a lot else planned, I’ll try and shift out for a quick walk later, the enthusiasm is waning, partly because I find it boring and partly because it’s cold! DD went back to work in school yesterday with DGS, DGD was on an inset day, now all at home again, DD did say a lot of staff were uncomfortable being there.
Wishing you all a gentle day, we did it before, we can do it again, ?for the last time.

Good Morning everyone from Severnside it is dry with swiftly moving clouds.

I need to write a ‘honey do’ list for myself. I can then see that I have at least achieved something in this latest lockdown.

Take care all and stay warm and safe ?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 05-Jan-21 07:28:01

Good morning Mick and all GMs from cold (no frost) north Surrey
Thank you all for your kind thoughts for DH, he is truly touched by them
Time to batten down the hatches again (not too different to how we have already been), think we knew it was coming. Will need to have another video call with sisters to discuss how we can continue to support parents between us
Dog walk today and bit of ironing to do. Have made a start on my 4000 piece jigsaw, it’s ok but there are just so many pieces and I haven’t opened one of the (3) bags yet!
Stay safe everyone and hope all have a good day

Good morning from
W Kent where the weather is vile.
Once again unto the breach, dear friends... Oh dear. I understand the reason but, oh, it seems endless. It is now 42 weeks since the original lockdown. A very long time.
Yes, Ash, today is the Epiphany. Hope mixed with sorrow.
I’m going out today for the first time in a week. Supermarket and to have my new glasses adjusted. I have complicated lenses and they need to be perfectly fitted.
Make sure this new setback doesn’t discombobulate you, stay cheerful. Starch that upper lip, use your neck brace for keeping the old chin up and have the best day possible. Spring isn’t that far off. X

Ashcombe Tue 05-Jan-21 07:04:08

I forgot to thank those who kindly wished me well for my hospital appointment yesterday. All went well, including a near empty bus taking me there (!) which felt safer than a taxi would have done! (Parking is a nightmare, as at many hospitals)

The check up was thorough with weight, height, BP, ECG and an echocardiogram being undertaken, all conducted with the utmost care and discretion by two young men. The results will be discussed with my cardiac consultant by a phone call to me at a later date.

baubles Tue 05-Jan-21 06:58:55

Good morning from cold, snowy S Lanarkshire.

Ashcombe churches here are closed again. Bellasnana it is depressing, so much more difficult to deal with in the dark days of winter.

DH has a kidney scan today, I can’t go with hi which is a pity, he gets a little bit nervous in these situations.

Other than that I have to do my online supermarket shop for tomorrow’s delivery but that’s about it for the day.

Hope it’s a peaceful one for you all.

Ashcombe Tue 05-Jan-21 06:46:52

Good morning, Mick, Scentia, Bellasnana and those to follow from a chilly Torbay.

The lockdown seems to have some aspects that are more relaxed (eg churches being open, if Covid secure, and social bubbles being permitted) but I’m not sure about takeaways. Let’s hope that this decision, coupled with the increasing availability of the vaccine, will reduce cases.

My picture shows that the wise men have almost reached their destination. We need the same inspiration of hope for a brighter future for us all that the Christ child held then.

Bellasnana Tue 05-Jan-21 06:41:20

Good morning Mick and everyone. It is fine weather here in Malta and no rain forecast for today.

Did absolutely nothing productive yesterday apart from a bit of cleaning. Must do better today. Definitely a walk to the shop for a few groceries. Think I might make some soup.

The news of another lockdown in the UK is very depressing. There seems no end in sight.

Stay safe everyone.☀️

Scentia Tue 05-Jan-21 06:39:23

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels cold ?
Mick I do believe the takeaway food will stay but not the alcohol, that’s how I read it anyway.
Work day today, as we are very busy on the production side there is no working from home for us today.
I think I am still ok to support my DD when she is alone whilst DH works offshore but will check with someone to be sure.
Take care everyone , stay safe and stay at home where it is much warmer anyway!!

12Michael Tue 05-Jan-21 06:33:31

Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but looks clear with a half moon in the sky above Brackley this morning, will be cold outside as well.
We wake up to new rules and a lockdown as per last March , so makes me wonder, will we be able to get take away meals from the Fish & Chip shop etc.
Take Care,
Mick
