I've received a few messages asking to continue the 1000 words thread. It has obviously given many people pleasure and some positivity. For anyone who doesn't know, posters come on with their photographs of pretty much anything and we take it from there. Nature is always a good one.

Fritillary envy here!
greyduster the old boy tells me that there’s been some ranting and objections from local drivers. Apparently it’s a distracting image when picked up by the headlights at night!grin

Gq he looks like someone’s grandad whose wandered off and got lost. I hope someone’s out looking for him!?

Greyduster Fri 12-Mar-21 14:11:42

These were mine in late March last year. They are nowhere near this stage this year; still in the green.

Lisagran Fri 12-Mar-21 13:38:28

More Fritillaries coming out now, grannyqueenie. There were some white ones last year, but no sign this year so far.

I knew I could depend on you Greyduster, I’ve looked it up and I think you’re right! Love those Fritillary blooms Lisa. I have one solitary one in a shady spot in the garden and every spring when it flowers I tell myself I’ll plant some more for next year. Of course I then forget!

Here’s a chap I spotted on a walk this week, He’s taking social distancing to a whole new level!

The lovely clean up squad have been out this week. No litter on our canal bank today.

Lisagran Thu 11-Mar-21 14:20:01

First Fritillary out

Lollin Wed 10-Mar-21 13:21:59

I remember that

Ellianne we also have a toad shaped rock which is a loved local landmark - the Toad’s Mouth near Hathersage. I’m deeply disappointed to see that some twit appears to have seen fit to carve an eye on it. What is it with people?

Greyduster Wed 10-Mar-21 12:01:33

Could it be a purplepore bracket, do you think, GQ? They seem to take various forms and colourations.

grannyqueenie Tue 09-Mar-21 21:39:54

Love all the seaside photos... one day... one day! For those interested in fungi, I spotted this one today. Any idea why it has a burgundy hue ?

Ellianne Tue 09-Mar-21 12:12:20

Oops that was my son's photo I'd stored from another day to compare, mine yesterday was darker. Sorry.

Ellianne Tue 09-Mar-21 12:09:49

Another photo from yesterday. This stone is called the frog! I couldnt resist stroking it!

It’s Norway Ellianne. I love it so much.

Oooh thanks Lisa.
I found something on my phone that said "cartoon" and I tried it. The result looked a bit Lowry like?
Amazing how you can play around with the style of photos.

Lisagran Mon 08-Mar-21 18:40:52

Little irises just coming out.....

Lisagran Mon 08-Mar-21 18:40:03

I put your photo through the Waterlogue app, Ellianne (= “painting”)

Greyduster Mon 08-Mar-21 18:05:09

A little bit of wishful thinking from me. It won’t be long now.....

Ellianne Mon 08-Mar-21 17:37:02

Where's that blossoming?
Photos where mountains meet the sea remind us how different aspects of nature live in harmony.

Blossoming Mon 08-Mar-21 17:28:27

Peace

Ellianne Mon 08-Mar-21 13:16:02

Decided to get up high today rather than always at beach level.

Nana3 Sat 06-Mar-21 23:14:02

Beautiful photo Ellianne and painting.
I miss going to the seaside, it will be my first day trip after lockdown.

Ellianne Sat 06-Mar-21 10:38:24

I rather think my photo at the beach this week is worthy of a Monet painting! The pastel shades were beautiful.

Bellanonna Fri 05-Mar-21 18:14:09

Lovely bracket fungus, GQ but I’ve never seen a green one. It’s beautiful.
