I've received a few messages asking to continue the 1000 words thread. It has obviously given many people pleasure and some positivity. For anyone who doesn't know, posters come on with their photographs of pretty much anything and we take it from there. Nature is always a good one.

Yesterday I visited the Foundling Museum, which is on the site of the old Foundling Hospital.

This a poignant photo of some of the mementoes that impoverished mothers left behind when leaving their babies there - these were used as ID if ever she were able to come back in the future and reclaim her child. The children were given a number and their names changed.

If you click and enlarge the photo you'll see that they're things like buttons, coins with a name scratched on, or an inch of cloth from a dress. sad

A very interesting museum and well worth a visit - although I could feel tears welling-up at times.

Yet another beautiful place which was used in the Harry Potter films, Durham Cathedral. It's currently exhibiting a huge moon hanging from its ceiling. Quite spectacular don't you think?

A couple from yesterday’s sunny lake. Our big computer has decided it won’t upload photos greyd, the iPad still cooperates. Frustrating isn’t it?

Fanny that photo is just past the Bonded Warehouse on the bend. I may have walk past your Dad in the past then smile

Josianne the cathedral looks stunning. I didn’t know that about HP. Have you been to Alnwick Castle aka Hogwarts? I’m not a Potter fan at all, but to see the real life Hogwarts is quite an experience. I saw a couple of Americans get very emotional about it.
Jan whereabouts on the canal are you? My dad (who lives near where you get your petrol from smile) walks by the canal most days.

Good Lord! I posted a photo at last!

Greyduster Sun 10-Oct-21 17:32:38

This stood out like a jewel this morning.

Exeter Cathedral yesterday. It was pipped by Gloucester Cathedral for filming in the Harry Potter movies.

Walking along our local canal today

Oh that's annoying Greyduster. Your photos are lovely.
Mine are all on my phone, so easy to download on GN so far. Fingers crossed.

Greyduster Sat 09-Oct-21 16:33:52

Thought I had deleted that as it won’t let me download the photo. Gransnet has suddenly decided it doesn’t like my big camera and life is too short to be fiddling around with image sizes. Please keep this thread going - I love looking at everyone else’s pics!

The Porter Brook.

Some people are up early to get ethereal shots. Here's a late afternoon one yesterday in the west with a dying light.

It was quite foggy earlier this morning.

The view from Chelsea Bridge with Albert Bridge in the distance; and a rather atmospheric view in the other direction of a brooding Battersea Power Station.
