Does anyone else just stay in their pajamas if you're not going out

I wanna know if I'm just being lazy haha. I just don't see the point in getting into nicer clothes if I'm just going to sit in my house all day. I suffer from RA and getting dressed is a struggle sometimes anyway.

Although I did get myself dressed this morning as I went out for a walk along the seafront. I can safely say it was freezing.

Hope you're all keeping well xx

I have a collection of baggy cotton Kaftan style house dresses that can double as a Nightdress if required, but equally suitable for nipping out to the shop or being seen in the garden wearing one if required. I seldom wear undergarments in the house, and prefare the feeling of freedom it gives me.
Likewise, my make up bag stays firmly in the draw unless I am off out somewhere really posh, where my best clothes get an outing too!
My mother was never a regular make up wearer and her skin looked lovely and naturally radiant right up till she died, she never used soap on her face either, just warm plain water.
A lot of the chemicals that form the ingredients of make up can cause long term dryness and damage to the base layers of the skin, no matter what fancy price you paid for it, or what is claimed by the manufacturers all in the name of emotional consumer blackmail and huge company profits!

I stay in my pyjamas if I know the post man not coming . Like sunday's , bank holidays and Christmas . I might buy some pyjamas that looks like tracksuits , then he wouldn't know I was being a lazy mare .

Don't wear jim jams and have to shower as soon as, and get dressed or I can't get on with the day. I would like to know if people wash their pyjamas every day if they have been nestling against their lady gardens. If not, yuk!

Pyjamas, lounge wear. All the way. I'll have a bath in the morning and put fresh ones on. Love it. I need to be cosy and comfy.

Of course I'll get dressed if taking my dog out for a stroll.

But all day in PJs?

Absolutely.

Curlywhirly Wed 06-Jan-21 10:28:34

Oh, definitely not, would only do that if I was ill. I wear jeans and a comfy jumper during the day. However, during lockdown, as I know no-one will be visiting, I don't wear any makeup (but still use perfume) and do get into my pjs at about 8.00pm.

DH sleeps in pj bottoms and has taken to wearing them during the day, with a jumper, unless we have to go out. I sleep in nothing but will sometimes wear nightie and dressing gown during the day if I am not feeling too well.

Otherwise it's trousers and jumpers but frequently dispense with a bra. I loathe them - they are the devil's invention. I would rather have wobbly boobs any day.

Don’t wear pyjamas in bed but they’ve become my day wear. Shower, teeth, clean pjs done ✔️ smile

No, must get showered and dressed. Don't have any of those lounge type clothes, nearest are joggers. Do wear those and a top fairly regularly. Easy to pop a jacket and boots on for going outdoors and at the moment - cosy.

No. I need structure in my day. Up,shower, dress, breakfast, housework, lunch, walk or exercise session, cuppa and catch up with my friends by zoom.,whatsapp or whatever. Dinner. Facetime grandkids for a bedtime story and then the evening to myself. Bedtime. Up. Repeat. Some evenings facetime friends as we eat our meals( Feels like we are together.) Mid week facetime quizzes or just chatter. Weekends family zooms Online shop etc. I dress quite casually but still make more of an effort for facetime sessions. This thankfully has worked for me for months and although wearing a bit thin It may well have to work for me for months more. Stay home and stay safe folks.

On waking I put my coat over my nightie and pop over the road to the garage for my paper! 40 stairs to go down and back up..... justifies going back to bed with cuppa to read all the distressing news. I say I won’t buy D Mail but have pre paid for a month! I try and tell myself that its a waste of a day and it is! But haven’t much else to do! A few phone calls etc later it’s 11.30. Always get dressed make up etc it’s like a mental boost snd makes looking in the mirror less of a shock! Actions in reverse for bedtime and tv. Which gets earlier and earlier.. oh well better get up now. It’s only 10.30. I’ve done well today but tomorrow’s another story!!! Happy New Year to you all x

I do get dressed every morning. I have to to go shopping but I am usually back in 'snuggies' as we call them by 3pm.
Why ever not? Better to be comfortable.

Lucretzia Wed 06-Jan-21 10:46:17

I'm amazed so many of you wear jeans!

Can't stand the things.

I was in my teens in the 70s when everyone was wearing them. Not me. I had a couple of pairs and I hated them

Size 8 for much of my life it wasn't to do with ill fitting jeans

I just thought them a nightmare to wear and I've not had a pair for about 45 years .

mrsgreenfingers56 Wed 06-Jan-21 10:51:06

Always get dressed as memories of my last father saying "Stop slopping about in your dressing gown and PJ's and go and get dressed" Boy does that still stick with me and I am 64! I do get up in PJ's and make a cuppa but then morning shower and make on every day. But hey ho does it really matter especially at present? What ever makes you happy and we all need a bit of happiness at the moment.

I get dressed most days but as my comfy clothing looks similar to my pjs, tee shirt and leggings or leisure trousers, my husband often asks me if I am getting dressed today when I just have ?

GrammarGrandma Wed 06-Jan-21 10:52:24

No. What keeps me going during these lockdowns is routine and a timetable. I have not failed to shower and get dressed once since the first lockdown last March. I fear it would be all too easy to spiral downwards into depression if I ever let things slip.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 06-Jan-21 10:52:45

I’m still in mine. Just finished the days housework and meal preparation and sat having coffee, then off for shower and hair wash.

Aepgirl Wed 06-Jan-21 10:55:02

I cannot understand why anybody would want to stay in the same clothes they had worn all day. Does that mean they don’t bath or shower, or clean their teeth? It’s just slovenly. And as for people who don’t wear a bra - I have a friend who does this, and her boobs rest on her stomach. Disgusting.

readalot Wed 06-Jan-21 10:56:40

I sometimes do. I will get a bath and put some clean ones on if I feel like having a lazy day

ExD Wed 06-Jan-21 10:58:01

My house is far too cold to slop around in PJs. What temperature do you all have your thermostats set at?

Lucretzia Wed 06-Jan-21 10:58:16

But they're not the same clothes, Aepgirl

You have a bath and put clean loungewear/PJs on. It's just the same as putting on a normal going out outfit!

Why would people not clean their teeth?!?

As for the bra, seeing as I don't have much to put in one it's never been a problem for me

However I do have a friend with costochondritis (not sure of the spelling) and a bra causes her a lot of pain so she goes without. And good for her.

fluttERBY123 Wed 06-Jan-21 10:58:28

I have a friend who is bed bound, has commode in room she has not left for 18 months. Carers 3 x a day. Every day they get her up and dressed to sit in chair by her bed for the morning. I asked her about this and she said it is done for the way she feels.

I think it is bad for how you feel to slop about in pjs all day. I was amazed when I got married that dh was shocked at the idea that anyone could come downstairs in pjs. So it was never done when family growing up and I still don't do it. Maybe something to do with self respect?

Callistemon Wed 06-Jan-21 10:58:42

This morning is an exception as I am still in my pjs and dressing gown at 10.50 shock

I generally get up, shower and dress so I don't know why I'm slobbing around today. Perhaps because the weather changed from sunny and promising to grey and miserable or perhaps because I thought of trimming my hair but am putting it off.

This could prove interesting ?‍♀️

CSizzle Wed 06-Jan-21 10:59:44

Pyjamas are not a way into depression. I enjoy feeling relaxed, cosy and comfortable in my PJs. Not every day, but occasionally. Very casual wear when I do wear clothes.
Getting all dressed up and made up, with nowhere to go and nobody visiting, would be depressing for me.

I don't see the point in putting on make up, if not going out. I do put on some mascara if I go out, but not full make-up as nobody can see me behind my mask, except for my eyes. So I am giving my skin a rest.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 06-Jan-21 11:00:31

No don't stay in PJs, but generally wear trousers I wouldn't be seen dead in, make sure my top is presentable in case of facetime calls. Keep my more presentable clothes for when I can get out!

Lucretzia Wed 06-Jan-21 11:02:02

Maybe something to do with self respect?

Nope
