New Lockdown Special Edition: Ask the Person Below You a Question!

I'd be working as a volunteer in a small (independent) charity shop - really miss it .

Where would you like to visit at the very first opportunity after the travel restrictions are lifted - somewhere in this country OR somewhere abroad?

I have a regular Friday Facetime with an old friend in London and I'm zooming next week with my book club. My zoom meetings have come to an end but I'm going to teaxh another friend how to use it next week so she can teach adult creative writing classes online.

Question: what would be doing this month if you were not locked down?

I am now avoiding watching the news - too depressing!

Who are you meeting with on Zoom? (I have 2 U3A groups and 2 committee meeting by zoom)

What’s your favourite lockdown lunch?

I like keeping up to date with news both National and international and don’t think it depresses me particularly.

Who’s already been out for a walk and where did you go? (Me - round the village, usual route of 1 mile)

I rarely watch TV news but I do have radio on most of the day.

To answer Jacalpad: It would have to be a classic car, a Jaguar Mark2 or an Austin 7. Much prefer classic cars.

Watch the news once in the morning and then again in the evening, no more.

Answering BBbevan, I do read poetry. Keats is my favourite. For something different, I recommend Brian Bilston - clever and funny.

Which singer or band do you wish you had seen?

I haven't swum in the sea for quite a long time, although I grew up doing so. I think the last time was in Majorca about 5 or 6 years ago.

Do you regularly feed the garden birds?

Yes - I do read poetry. A wide variety from children's poets to war poets.

I read poetry quite a lot there are some favourites that help a lot eg Christina Rossetti My heart is like a singing bird...

I never put salt in my potatoes or any other vegetables when I am cooking them. I mostly cook them in a pressure cooker and they tend to retain their natural flavour.

Have you learned any new skills or taken up new hobbies during lockdown?

No, no salt in my potatoes just at the table for those items that need it. But I am told this is not the healthiest option!
Which TV news programme do you chose?

Answering Henetha, I have been using garlic butter a lot but not fresh garlic. It is supposed to be good for us I think. Not sure about the butter.
When did you last swim in the sea?

We don’t eat potatoes .

When lockdown ends, I am looking forward to going for a weekend away with my husband, children and grandchildren.

Thomas Harding’s Legacy. The history of Lyons (tea, ice cream, food etc). I always remember Lyons Corner House, the Nippy’s in their caps and aprons, and some had the most marvellous salad bars.

When lockdown ends and we can go out what would be the first thing you would want to do (apart from the obvious of visiting our family)

I re-read My Cousin Rachel by Daphne Du Maurier, an old favourite of mine.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays we go 'light' and have 'soupanabun', that is to say, an M and S or Waitrose fancy fresh soup and a hot cross bun, toasted. The DH also has some of my homemade bread. Then, at the weekend, we can eat what we like.
