Periods. Risk reducing total hysterectomy ten years ago which ended the torture every month. Bliss!

This weather, trying to run at 07.00 in the morning for the 07.30 bus for the hour's journey to work. I don't honestly know how I did it ! Though I was still dashing around airports-----but that was different
I feel I deserve these long sit-downs. I burnt myself out I think

Teaching. I bumped into my daughter's retired Headteacher this morning for the first time in years, and said I'd thought of her with lockdown - and she has gone back two days a week! Such a hard, demanding job during normal times.

Almost all the above apply. Unless I've an early appointment which can't be avoided I never set the alarm. Not having to cook big meals every day. As I learned to drive in my mid-fifties I don't have to wait at cold, wet and windy bus stops with shopping unless I choose to. When I get my bus pass (hopefully before the month is out) I won't have to prat about for the exact change for the fare.

Yes, definitely the ice-scraping. That has to be number 1 on my list. And close second is not having to work to deadlines, and not having to do other people's bidding. It is just so wonderful being able to do what I want, when I want. Or simply do abso-bloody-lutely nothing all day if I choose

Get up early for work, especially in this weather. I still work, but no early mornings.

Take orders from idiots who knew a lot less than me but were paid a lot more.

It's the scraping car windows that I really, really don't miss. I used to dread that and the worrying drive to arrive at work while it was still dark. It was the sight of dawn breaking over the hospital as I arrived that clinched my decision to retire. Never regretted it.

This is due to the covid situation rather than age, but I am glad I dont have to go to works nights out anymore. I know they arent compulsory but you feel obligated. I need to say no more.

Get up when I don't want to. I feel very sorry for our young neighbours when I hear them scraping the car windows - it's such a blessing to be able to roll over and go back to sleep.

On the other hand - I'd do it like a shot if I could just pop over and look after the grandsons again.

Live in a house without central heating.

I'm glad I don't have to mark anymore. As a retired English teacher,marking was constant. Every night and every weekend. And yes, not having to defrost the car and drive to work. Living alone I no longer have to plan meals for a family every day.

Im glad I don’t have to deal with periods any more, either those in school or the other kind.
