Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark this morning , but looks dry and cold outside here in Brackley .
Today, trip the chemist prescriptions, and also place another order Parsley Box, and the Sausage Man fr some German dishes .
Apart from TV with repeats , I am enjoying the Rick Stein Cornwall programme.

Good morning Mick and all from Glasgow. It's not frosty, that's all I know, as I'm still in bed! However, it does seem really blustery.

Obviously, I'm going nowhere today, but I don't want to be a slob, which is what I've been since I've come out of hospital, so I need to find something to keep me out of mischief.
DH, ever the comedian asked if I wanted to go for a walk today! He has totally forgotten that I'm awaiting a Covid test result and was very unwell just under a week ago. ☹,

Poor DD is terrified that I may have caught Covid in hospital and keeps phoning to see if I have any symptoms! I know she means well, but I have re-named her the Stasi. Soon I think I will have to ask permission to even go to the loo, I feel like a five year old! ?

A amusing little tale for you all from my convalescence journal.
Every morning DH brings me a cuppa in bed so that I can start the first of my medication. He is not so bad after all. ?
Yesterday morning, I got up to get washed and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. It was quite dark, but I could see what looked like dry blood all over my décolleté.
My first thought was my new medication had caused some severe reaction, which is not unusual for me.
Off I went to ask for a second opinion from that well known medical consultant, Mr Marydoll, who on his PC.
As usual his expert advice, (without lifting his head from the screen to look at me) was Oh dear, wait and see if it gets worse. ?

I got some baby wipes and started to clean off the blood. It felt quite gritty. ? Putting my glasses on, I took a closer look.
The dried blood, was actually the crumbs from the dark chocolate digestive biscuit, DH had brought with my tea,, which had somehow, fallen into the crevasse.
Big boobs are indeed an affliction if you are a wee, auld bachle (small, round, old lady) ! ? This is my injection day, it's the turn of my stomach, but my boobs always get in the way of my line of vision! I have difficulty finding the actual target. I may draw one!!?

So many sad stories on GN just now, thank goodness we have this lovely thread and special pals to support us.
Wishing you all the best day possible and hoping those struggling with pain and sorrow, find the strength to cope whatever is thrown at them.

NannyJan GO FOR THAT MAMMOGRAM!!!
Last week I had a number of scans and xrays, all done with PPE. Make sure you have a mask with you. They will probably give you one anyway. It is a greater risk, not having a scan!

Good morning from a grey but not so cold Essex by the sea.
Admin and housework on the agenda today, hopefully I'll have time to start my new cross stitch later.
DH and I have decided we really must start some of the big jobs we have been putting off. There's always next week !!!!

Sorry to hear about poorly friends and acquaintances, we all have to be very vigilant.

Enjoy your Monday whatever you get up to and stay safe everyone xx.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a mild and soon to be sunny , I think, Oxfordshire hopefully the fog has gone, it’s been hanging around for days.
I can put ditto today as all days seem the same , punctuated by dustbin days and shopping deliveries.
At least we are getting out with DDs dog each day, we are lucky to live in the countryside, although in normal times it’s a long way to go to a shop (6 mile round trip to small shop and a bus stop).
Wishing everyone a good day, love and hugs for those who aren’t so chipper today.

Sparklefizz Mon 11-Jan-21 08:27:18

Good morning Mick and all GNs from a milder South Glos.
Lovely to see all the photos - very cheering.

A short walk to the postbox planned for this morning, otherwise a couple of hours of voluntary work online, and the usual chores.

Thoughts to all who are struggling or ill. flowers

Stay safe everyone, and have as good a day as possible.

Lins1066 Mon 11-Jan-21 08:20:16

Good morning Mick and all. It is feels milder and it is damp outside.I didn't sleep much last night. Laundry and cleaning on today's agenda, hopefully a walk later. Best wishes to Cherry, Marydoll and gilly, stay safe everyone and I hope you have a decent day.

Jaxjacky Mon 11-Jan-21 08:19:48

Good morning all from a milder S Hants. Not a lot to report really, quiet day yesterday, a chilly walk and watched DH football team get dumped out of the FA cup, he was not happy.
A similar day day, with no football.
Take care all.

Good morning Mick, morning all from S Lanarkshire where the ice and snow has at last been washed away. I will be able to go outside today without taking my life in my hands. The grit I ordered a week ago is being delivered today so we’ll be ready the next time. grin

Such cheerful photos this morning thanks grandMattie and Bellasnana.

Another quiet day, not much choice is there. I spent hours yesterday on ancestry and really didn’t achieve much, I’ll have another go today.

DH is picking up our new car this afternoon, it has been delayed for a month but the showroom is now doing some kind of ‘click and collect’ service.
In other news a bloke with a wrench arrived yesterday to force open the garage door which is great, what’s not so good is that he reckons it could be eight weeks till we can get a new door. Not that it really matters, DH brought his golf clubs into the house and there’s not much else of value in there.

Wishing everyone the best possible day, look after yourselves.

Who can resist this wee pooch

Pittcity Mon 11-Jan-21 08:11:39

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. No frost this morning but still very cold.
Sorting out drawers today and staying warm and safe indoors.
Beef stew and dumplings is on the menu.

Elizabeth1 Mon 11-Jan-21 08:10:57

Morning all from what appears to be a windy day outside here on the east coast of Fife not sure just yet if the frost has melted or not. I too love Rick Steins tv programs during his visits to Cornwall. I also love his cooking programmes abroad and his jaunts in the camper van cooking at the side of the road. The hairy bikers are also enjoyable to watch they are so funny together I saw them in real life once in Dundee at the country fair. After what was a fatigue day for me yesterday I got some really good news which cheered me up no end, my great nephew became engaged to a lovely french girl they're having to make their way back to work today where they’re both teachers. Hope they keep safe and within the guidelines etc etc these youngsters eh. Have a good day everyone the light is beginning to shine flowersvirtual hugs to those who feel in a dark place may your day start to become worthwhile.

CherryCezzy Mon 11-Jan-21 08:10:12

Good morning everyone. It's milder here in the Gower too today and it lovely to see that it's getting lighter earlier in the morning. Spring will be sprung before we know it ☺️

You should go to have your mammogram on Thursday NannyJan. Hospitals and clinics are meticulous in the protocols they are having to carry out at the moment.

I'm meant to be having three, yes three people coming into the house this morning ?. They will all be wearing full ppe but nevertheless it's very daunting. There may even be a fourth visitor as, even though we thought the gas engineer had fixed our heating system he didn't! He's meant to be coming back today.

Love the daffs grandMattie, thanks for sharing their smiley faces ☺️
With the caption Bellasnana the dog photo is brilliant.

Take care and stay safe everyone ❤️

Gingster Mon 11-Jan-21 08:05:54

Good morning all and it feels milder here in Essex.

The old local fox was barking up and down the road last night and even woke me and little pooch up this morning. I checked the garden before I let her out but I could here a cat squalling so I think there was a stand off somewhere.

Thanks for the daffs *Grandmattie. I asked DS to get some with the shopping but he couldn’t find any. He said I’ve got you some Chrysanthemums instead. (Carnations) Bless! ?.

I love the pic of Bertie, Bellasnanna. What a great shot!

Nannyjan I would ask how The mammogram works with distancing. They do have to get very close to you. I had my last one in November 2019. The nurse had a terrible cold which I caught from her. She said she had sinus trouble! ?

Viridian poor you! I bet you were on tender hooks all night. Hope your migraine has gone as well as the little intruder.

Take care all ??

Beauregard Mon 11-Jan-21 08:05:37

Good morning everyone from Derbyshire where we have a milder day in store. Unfortunately this means we're going to get some rain too.

I've just been to get the morning paper. There was one person in the shop, a young and unmasked workman. I waited outside so I could keep well away. When he came out he held the door for me which was awkward as it meant me moving closer to him than I would have liked. Such chivalrous behaviour was welcomed not so long ago, but not any more!! He seemed oblivious ?

A quiet day in today, just a visit to tend to the girls ? later.

Nice photo's today. Love Bertie the dog!

Have a good day all.

Beechnut Mon 11-Jan-21 08:05:19

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry and frosty.

Here I am late again as I turned over and had another sleep. I must admit though it is then nice to wake up to the day getting light. The sky colour in the east is beautiful.

I spent nearly three hours in the garden yesterday cutting things down and cutting smaller so I can get more into the bin.

Washing and pottering today and I’m going to make a lime cheesecake without the base.

Have a good day all or as good as it can be, stay safe?

ginny Mon 11-Jan-21 08:00:27

Another beautiful sky this morning. As I opened the window to take the picture it did seem a little warmer. Hopefully we will get a walk in later.

I think I might start sorting out under the stairs today or I might not.
More crochet and / or other craft work later.
It almost seems that many of us could just type ‘ditto’ each day.?
Stay safe and I hope you all find a ?.

brook2704 Mon 11-Jan-21 07:50:13

Sorry to hear about your friend viridian such a sad time for so many just now. Don’t apologise for feeling glum though, it happens to us all, hopefully it’ll pass soon

cornergran Mon 11-Jan-21 07:48:06

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, dry corner of Somerset. Our isolating-one is symptom free so far, it’s unsettling when a positive cv test arrives gagagran, good there are no symptoms. We’ve had news of several very poorly people in the last week, feeling closer now. Mr C is wielding an emulsion brush (again!) this morning, admin for me and the grocery order. I’d love to have more purpose and envy scentia both her energy and normal work day. Hope we all have a reason to smile today. Stay safe everyone.

NanKate Mon 11-Jan-21 07:41:39

Morning Mick and All.

It looks as if we will have a slightly warmer day today in South Bucks.

Love all the photos which are posted on this thread now.

NannyJ from my experience of hospital appointments recently the staff are very careful with hygiene, distancing and checking of temperature.

Bellasnana yes a trip out in the fresh air is important even if it is only to get groceries.

I have my Zoom Qigong lesson starting today and DS has asked me to help with preparing some teaching resources he needs for when he does Virtual School visits.

brook2704 Mon 11-Jan-21 07:39:25

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s warmed up and the snow has gone but there’s more in the forecast for today ⛄️
Thank you for the daffodils grandmattie I’ve got some daffodil and hyacinth bulbs well on their way on the kitchen windowsill as I love watching the spring bulbs grow
gagagran hope your DGD recovers soon
Just the same for me today, a local walk etc although thank you dwmxwg for reminding me visit the university gardens again soon to check out the local swans there ... see what’s happening!
Hope everyone facing worries and struggles has a better day today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Ashcombe Mon 11-Jan-21 07:38:14

Good morning to you all from a milder Torbay than of late,

How lovely to see the daffs, grandMattie. A welcome sight. The photo of your DD's dog at The Capitol is priceless, especially the caption, Bellasnana and worthy of being entered in a competition! NannyJan: I would go for the mammogram, despite any misgivings you have. Last week, I felt safer visiting my hospital for cardiac tests than I do in the supermarket. I hope your migraine hasn’t left you feeling too washed out today, Viridian. They are a nuisance.

This is late for me contributing on here as I “overslept” until after 7.00am!! No interesting plans for today - boring domesticity beckons! ☹️

I hope any Monday morning blues soon dissipate!

Viridian Mon 11-Jan-21 07:26:52

Good morning from a cloudy and much warmer (7°) Cornwall. Slept in my art room last night on a blow up bed so I didn't have to hear the rat trap go in the roof space. So unpleasant. Had a migraine in the night. Am a sensitive soul and this bothers me. My son has offered to come and check it, not sure I can face it!

Thanks for the daffs gM, lovely, I needed those. I have narcissi in a vase at the moment, reminds me of when I went to Scilly in February once and the islands were perfumed from the fields of them.

A friend of a friend is in a coma in a London hospital with Covid and a 20% chance of survival. First time I've heard of anyone in my 'circle' poorly with it.

Best of days to you all, sorry I'm a bit glum. Very rare that!

Grandmabatty Mon 11-Jan-21 07:26:40

Good morning all. It's damp but milder in Polmont. Mick I'm a big fan of German food. Grandmattie the daffs are lovely. I bought tulips on Saturday for a touch of spring. NannJan definitely go for your mammogram. I'm sure they will have plenty of measures in place. scentia I don't know how you do it! You are full of energy. Dwym swans are beautiful birds. The lake near where I stay has many swans, geese and duck. The geese in particular are aggressive but mainly towards humans! Back to babysitting today. I'll pick dgs up about 8.30 and we'll see what the day brings. A walk outside definitely for fresh air. over the weekend I made lemon drizzle cake, scones and peanut butter cookies so there's plenty in the tins. Leek and potato soup for lunch. Roast chicken for tea. Now for my second cup of coffee and then to get organised. I'll pop back later to catch up Have a good day all.

Dwmxwg Mon 11-Jan-21 07:01:39

Morning all from north Surrey, dark and cold but dry
Had a lovely frosty walk with the dog yesterday. Our local lake has 3 swans, parents and adult offspring. The adults disappeared weeks ago but are now back and aggressive towards the young swan. I guess it is natures way as they will be nest building again for this years brood and the youngster needs to now find its own mate, but it felt rather cruel.
We had the the last of the turkey, which DH had frozen, with roasted veg. He always cooks far too much so bubble and squeak today.
My day to visit mum and dad. Will go armed with my cleaning bits.
Hope everyone has a good Monday

Scentia Mon 11-Jan-21 06:54:01

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels mild.
Normal work day for me today, we are still rather busy on the production side but we are already experiencing delays with our supplies from Europe. Once we have done what we can, we come home to the warm?
Having to have a really big bowl of berries for brekky before they go over! Can’t stand waste.
I ordered some gingham fabric online yesterday Grandmattie I hope it’s ok as I have never purchased fabric before.
Hope everyone is ok and has the best day possible. Stay safe, smile if you can, but if you can’t, try not to cry?

Gagagran Mon 11-Jan-21 06:52:30

Morning all from a milder south coast 6.5c at 6.15am. Hope that's the coldest it gets this winter!

News from DS yesterday that his no.2 DD has tested positive for CV. No symptoms and feels well. The other three of them were all negative but they have to isolate until Saturday now. She has not been anywhere for three weeks apart from walks with her Dad in the countryside, but they are in one of the highest areas of infection in the country so who knows where the virus was lurking.

Laundry day today and I must run the car engine in situ as advised by the mechanic who sorted our dead battery last Thursday morning. DH needs a hair cut so that is on the list and I had a real craving for a home-made scone last night so may make some. That's my packed agenda for today folks!

Keep safe and keep warm everyone. Spring is coming. sunshine
