In the true spirit of the Gransnet we have always believed we knew, is it OK for me to ask if Izabella has been in touch recently or if anyone has heard from her? If she's reading this, she knows how much we love her posts. ❤️

Sorry to see all the deleted posts and the turmoil in soops lovely kitchen ☹️
Friendly supportive threads are needed now more than ever and I feel that we should be able to ask after others if a regular daily poster suddenly goes missing. Ok maybe not to speculate why someone isn’t posting but surely there’s no harm in asking after someone or if anyone has heard from them etc ...

I bring honey baklava and Metaxa a cure for all ills.
First walk today for nearly a week mild but very muddy along the river. So many people seem to have dogs now is it lockdown puppies!!

Have a pleasant evening everyone and stay safe.

Callistemon I bought sets, they went in just before Christmas, it was wet! Have onions to do now and awaiting delivery of potatoes to chit.

Callistemon Wed 27-Jan-21 16:59:46

I'm just wondering about the pigeons and squirrels, they had a field day with my sprouting broccoli.
The squirrel ate my tulip shoots last year so this year I put upturned hanging baskets over the pots.

I thought the House of Bruar sold woollies?

Marydoll Wed 27-Jan-21 16:51:52

I planted mine before Christmas, Callistemon and the pesky squirrels dug them up, along with my tulips from The House of Bruar, no less! ?

Callistemon Wed 27-Jan-21 16:49:55

Thanks Nannytopsy
I will try that. It looks like another year of staying at home and veg growing.

soop Wed 27-Jan-21 16:49:47

I echo kitty's post.

We in the kitchen care about each other. It's what we've done from day one. Long may it continue. There is little to celebrate in the present climate. Visiting the kitchen, asking after each other's welfare is surely what the world need now.

Still no word from the engineer. Remain still my patient heart. We've come this far. We continue to hope.

Tomorrow is a brand new day. I shall return to spend time with my pals and in the meantime wish you all a pleasant evening. smile moon

I don't post in soop's kitchen but I cheered when I read kitty's post.

HQ, a lot of us are old timers now and there may be new kids on the block but please don't treat us in such a heavy handed manner.

Backing off now!

Nannytopsy Wed 27-Jan-21 16:46:49

Callistemon I buy sets. The shop ones are not all hardy enough for the UK. I should have put them in the ground just before Christmas but I have given up waiting for dry weather . ?

NanaandGrampy Wed 27-Jan-21 16:45:41

'orf with his head I say :-)

Callistemon Wed 27-Jan-21 16:44:04

Don't tempt me, N&G!

NanaandGrampy Wed 27-Jan-21 16:39:40

Is that knitting like at the foot of the guillotine Callistemon?? grin

janeainsworth Wed 27-Jan-21 16:39:25

If you don't think that speculation about someone's whereabouts is in the spirit of the site - then I suspect you weren't here at the time of Greatnan's disappearance

Well said Kitty I was thinking just the same.

Callistemon Wed 27-Jan-21 16:32:24

GrannyGravy13

I think GNHQ have totally missed the point of *soops kitchen*

Actually, it would be interesting to know how old some moderators are.

Back to my knitting ?

Callistemon Wed 27-Jan-21 16:30:57

?Present
I'm at the back causing trouble, N&G

GrannyGravy13 Wed 27-Jan-21 16:30:30

I think GNHQ have totally missed the point of soops kitchen

Callistemon Wed 27-Jan-21 16:29:42

Nannytopsy do you buy garlic sets or just use the ones you buy in the supermarket? I'm thinking of growing some this year but when I tried before it wasn't very successful.

NanaandGrampy Wed 27-Jan-21 16:28:19

Why do I get the urge to do a role call???

Soop ?

I'm just in one of those moods today :-)

kittylester Wed 27-Jan-21 16:27:40

Stella, you really should read that post and see if that is really what you mean.

If you don't think that speculation about someone's whereabouts is in the spirit of the site - then I suspect you weren't here at the time of Greatnan's disappearance.

Nannytopsy Wed 27-Jan-21 16:27:02

Well Soop, the engineer has had a while to do his magic. Has anything happened yet? Fingers crossed!
I have cleared the final raised veg bed today ( smug! ?) apart from the purple sprouting broccoli, which is mostly consumed by the pigeons ?. I have also started the garlic in the greenhouse as the soil is a bit wet just now.
It is so good to be out in the fresh air - spring is coming and this will all be a memory eventually. Chins up kitcheners.

Callistemon Wed 27-Jan-21 16:22:49

I think your stance is wrong, too, Stella and GNHQ.

How do we know in these uncertain times - or at any time in fact - what happens to regular posters who just disappear?
Other issues about the moderation are worrying too at the moment but that is not for this thread.

StellaGransnet (GNHQ) Wed 27-Jan-21 16:18:57

Hi Callistemon,
As we said, we understand the concern about other users, and in situations where they are still on the site, you are very welcome to PM them and we are sure that some would welcome that. If users have decided to leave, or have been suspended then that will not be possible, but that is out of our hands. We're afraid we don't think that speculation on someone's whereabouts or why they are not longer around is helpful, or in the spirit of the site, which is why we've deleted certain posts and threads.

NanaandGrampy Wed 27-Jan-21 16:18:44

I wont comment here at length but I think your stance is wrong GNHQ.

Doodle Wed 27-Jan-21 16:18:37

I’m not sure GNHQ are working in ‘the spirit of the site’ but if they are it’s certainly not the site I joined years ago.
I am withdrawing too.
