I am so dismayed to see what has taken place in your kitchen Soop??

A sad day too when mentioning someone’s name or a caring enquiry when we notice a poster’s absence is now against the rules.

Soop hope after all this time you get connectivity and look forward to more of your beautiful sunsets. Have meant to ask do you see the northern lights where you are?

soop Wed 27-Jan-21 13:46:00

Well now. Whatever has caused the kerfuffle is a bit of a buggeration. We'll all get over it. It's what we do. Hang in there. Take a deep breath and remain positive.

That's what we are doing right now. Engineer is once again at the exchange. He's part of a team that deals with difficulties that others haven't solved. He'll be reporting back to us a little later. Patience is a virtue...so I'm told. wink

Never seen anything like it on one of the few threads where we can support each other. sad Soop, so sorry that there is turmoil in the kitchen.
What on earth has happened to GN these days? Soon all we will be able to post about, is the weather. sad

annodomini Wed 27-Jan-21 13:32:10

A shame that all these posts have been deleted, given that this is 'Soop's Welcoming Kitchen'.

MiceElf Wed 27-Jan-21 13:19:50

It’s some years since I ceased to post on GN because it was becoming trivial and repetitious. I have, however, looked in very occasionally. It seems my decision was correct. Even Facebook and Twitter waited for a coup and armed insurrection before instituting a ban.

Urmstongran Wed 27-Jan-21 12:52:39

Well said ja ?

janeainsworth Wed 27-Jan-21 12:48:11

Hello everyone. I’m not a regular Kitchener but I too wanted to express my concern about the missing member.
I think Gransnet has reached a new low when even mention of someone’s name is enough to get a post deleted.

Doodle Wed 27-Jan-21 12:46:33

My thoughts too Urms. If someone goes missing that we know and care for without explanation it can be very worrying as you say especially in these troubling times.

Urmstongran Wed 27-Jan-21 12:44:24

Seems a bit draconian Doodle! Surely better that than being concerned about a missing poster in these unprecedented times?

Doodle Wed 27-Jan-21 12:44:01

You know Urms ?

Urmstongran Wed 27-Jan-21 12:42:43

I thought I’d stumbled onto the political threads! What have you lot been up to?
?

Doodle Wed 27-Jan-21 12:42:21

N&G no bun fight. I tried to let the kitchen know that we would be missing one of our long term members (think dog house) as I think it’s only right that we know someone who we care for is missing. It seems we are not allowed to mention her name. ?

Hoping you and Mr Soop get some action at last from those lazybones at BT.
I share your love of the Inkspots, reminds me of my childhood. They were funny too :

Good grief, you lot! I turn my back for a as one and we get deleted posts and in the kitchen!shockconfused

What have you all been up to!!!!

NanaandGrampy Wed 27-Jan-21 12:32:29

Afternoon all,

What's with all the deleted messages?

Did I miss a bun fight :-).

I'm going to be cross if I did because today I am bored. I don't want to craft or crochet or god forbid do housework so I'm ready for some mischief :-)

Sending healing thoughts out to those like Grandmafrench who are having an awful time with pain. flowers

soop Hope you are on the way to being fully sorted, in the loop - even looping the loop! - and being back to full communication. Perhaps even a full refund in the bank?

There are macaroons on the side. I am dreaming of them as I am in the process of being “reduced”. grin

I am enjoying some alone time at home this morning for the first time since I don’t know when. DD has taken Himself to the clinic although he has to go in by himself of course. I am sitting looking out of the window at - nothing really as it is so misty that I can barely make out the hills across the valley but there is sunshine trying to come through and NO rain! Hoping for good things to come. For all of us smile

Grandmafrench

If it’s suggested, Bella.....I shall be totally for that. ?

Please be careful Grandmafrench. I've been having them in my thumb joints. (arthritis) When I went to see the surgeon last August, she warned me that they lower the immune system and I would find it harder to fight COVID if I caught it. She couldn't do my right hand as that involved being done in theatre.

At the time, with number of cases and deaths dropping, I decided to have the left hand done as she could do that without going into theatre. It was the most painful.

I then worried all through November and December as the cases and deaths started to shoot up plus the news of the mutant virus. I virtually self isolated. The cortisone has now wore off.

I'm sure you'll talk through all the options.

Take care and good luck.

Thanks for that Urmstongran. Noise levels have always put me off even considering buying a flat. I live in a 3 bedroom house but one never knows what the future will bring. I was hoping to leave here feet first.

Sorry Charleygirl5 I forgot to reply to your question earlier. Yes we live on a main road (the entrance to Urmston railway station is literally on the other side of the road) yet, luckily for us, the soundproofing materials are excellent here. It’s so quiet unless of course I open the ‘click’ patio door onto the balcony.

Our eldest daughter was concerned about what noise would be heard in an apartment. She envisaged thin walls and being able to hear not only traffic but sounds from the neighbours such as television or music. Not a peep.

When we moved in (10 years ago, brand new, bought off-plan) I knocked on next door and said ‘if I whack my sound system right up can I pop back in a couple of minutes so that you can tell me if it would disturb you?’.

I turned it on, turned it up, then a bit more, then ‘party-party’ level. It seemed the best opportunity to know, be aware and therefore considerate. I knocked back on. He reassured me that he’d not heard a peep! I totally believe him as in ten years I’ve never heard a sound from either side.

In our 1929 semi we would occasionally hear next door’s tv or say their dog barking. I just think that building materials are superior nowadays.

Another plus to living here!
❤️
