Grandmabatty that’s boys for you ?
Hellogirl like your new sofa. Looks really comfortable and stylish.
Soop well done to MrSoop and his letter writing skills. Let’s hope some action finally happens.
Grandmafrench sorry you’ve been in so much pain. Hope the doc is able to find out what’s wrong. An X-ray is a good idea.
muse hope you get your machine back together again ?
Sleep well all TOYA?

Grandmafrench Tue 26-Jan-21 21:22:04

If it’s suggested, Bella.....I shall be totally for that. ?

Bellanonna Tue 26-Jan-21 21:10:54

GrandmaFrench, would a cortisone injection help? It worked for me. Just a thought.

muse Tue 26-Jan-21 21:01:13

Love the sofa Hellogirl1. High backs are so comfy. You've tempted me into looking for a new one. I'm currently sitting on ours which is too low, I struggle to get up off it. I'm tall.

Chocolate beetroot cake made today and leek and potato soup. My own leeks.

Sainsbury's delivery arrived. This must be the 10th different person we've had. It does come from different areas though.

Got my sewing machine out yesterday to try and sort the tension, No success. " Let me have a look" said husband. Today, it's in pieces on the table. He's been working on it for 8 hours. Engineer by trade and any machine he touches has to be totally disassembled, parts repaired, cleaned, greased and then reassembled. He's humming. He's happy smile.

Urmstongran Tue 26-Jan-21 20:49:28

Maybe some cashmere socks ...
?

Jaxjacky Tue 26-Jan-21 20:40:36

grandmafrench hope the pain stays away and you sleep tonight. Urmstongran so, are you off buying yourself a treat as no new specs required? ? I’m awaiting part 2 of Marcella, was good last week, via Martin Clunes in Australia (me, not Marcella).

‘Evening All’
?

Optician’s appointment went well today. 2 year eye check normal, no need to upgrade spex, yay! Only cost was the £25 for a scan which puts photos of back of eyes on computer screen. The check up itself was NHS covered. My sore eyes are due to a condition called blepharitis and I have instructions to follow. Made me laugh yesterday when the receptionist said ‘we aren’t able to offer refreshments nor bathroom facilities due to the virus, so please arrive hydrated but not too much!’.

Between heavy showers we walked over to our daughter and son in law’s, using our spare key to squirrel away said helium balloon and presents ready for tomorrow morning! Good job well done.

Walking back through the park we bumped into (not literally - distance kept) a couple we socialise with in normal times. She and I worked at the same hospital for over 30 years and she still chooses to work part time at the same age as me.
#lazygran

Anyway, turns out she’s to get her jab tomorrow as an NHS worker. I asked if I might be able to turn up unnoticed as my badge and lanyard were sitting in a drawer somewhere ...
? ?

Best wishes to all in soop’s lovely kitchen especially any of you who are struggling one way or another.

‘Goodnight All’.

Oh dear I had typed a post before we took my mum her shopping and it didn't post!!! Hope everyone is well and having a good evening

soop Tue 26-Jan-21 17:36:39

Grandmabatty Having just this minute read the episode with the smelly nappy...I hope that you won't be offended if I join with the others in laughing aloud. Oh, the joys!

Time for me to say farewell until tomorrow. It's soggy outside. Fern is lolling on the utility room door mat. This means that we cannot close the back door. Which means that we must accept a certain degree of cool air circulating throughout the rest of the house until she takes her leave. hmm

Stay safe. I trust that we'll be here together in our kitchen sometime tomorrow. smile moon

GrannyGravy13 Tue 26-Jan-21 17:31:19

Good news on the internet front soop

Sorry you are still suffering with your leg Grandmafrench

I can totally relate to the nappy incident Grandmabatty it’s a hazard of the job ?

Have left some carrot cake on the side, keep safe and out of mischief ?‍♀️

Grandmafrench Tue 26-Jan-21 17:29:56

Hi de hi, Kitchen kovelies, Fern, MacSporran, soop and her fancy man/Mr Soop. You’ve started something now, Bellasnonna.

Sleep impossible, nothing worked. Pain finally retreated at 6am. I can weight bear and walk without pain! Spoke to my Doctor, have an appointment in the morning, will have an X-ray and then if appropriate, see a Specialist. If your knee was like my ankle, NannyT, you are a very brave girlie. Can Arthritis be that acute? I had hoped pain and low grade mobility problems sometimes but this was awful., It’s nuts that it can be unbearable for hours and then settle down normally again. But we shall see......your good wishes and advice so much appreciated and I’ll bore you with an update when I have it.

GrandmaB that little boy! You will have learned to keep your slippers on...but then might have not located the poo pellets until you’d re-located them to other parts of your home? Oh my! ?. Reminds me of a time many years ago when - in desperation and mid-cuppa in conversation, a friend suggested that her DH go up to our bathroom (carpeted) to deal with an unpleasant explosion in their toddler Daughter’s nappy, because....well, just because! My DH - armed with additional supplies - went to help. The noise coming from the bathroom after 10 minutes prompted our arrival. The child had been wrestled to the changing mat, unsavoury items discarded in the bath, almost an entire pack of baby wipes had been used on a now spotless child who was laughing and squirming while being restrained and dressed. Two large adult males were crying with laughter and almost exhausted with their efforts! No damage to the carpet, or clothing, no persons harmed and only a good time had by all. But, we all forget just how much it takes to baby wrangle on a daily basis, I think. Small ? and a ? for you, GrandmaB ?

soop if there is life at BT., maybe you’re finally in touch with The Man who has the keys to the toolbox, the manual and the van! Praise be.....we’ll await news.

Have a super evening, SuperGrans. Take special care. x

soop Tue 26-Jan-21 17:29:39

Bellanonna Hello again. Lovely to have you back in the kitchen. Mr Soop is indeed MacSporran Who else? He seems to prefer the new name. He's as lovely as always. wink

Hellogirl Your new sofa is very glam. It suits your room. Like me, you seem to have a plethora of family photos on display. I would be without mine.

Grandmafrench I agree that you should have your leg x-rayed. Better to be on the safe side.

Hellogirl1 Tue 26-Jan-21 17:21:52

Ooops, nearly forgot, here are some pics of my "new" living room with new sofa in situ.

Hellogirl1 Tue 26-Jan-21 17:18:28

Wonderful news Soop, Mr. Soop`s eloquent letter obviously did the trick.
Sorry Grandmabatty, that gave me my first laugh today.
I went back onto the NHS site last night before going to bed, and, miracle of miracles, have managed to book an appointment for the vaccine for next Monday, actually here in Boston, as will be the second jab in April.
Grandmafrench, please see a doctor as soon as possible, you are starting to worry me now.

Namsnanny Tue 26-Jan-21 17:09:45

Well at least you know he is in good working order Grandmabatty grin

Good news about the BT repair going ahead soop

You're right about daffodils cheering up the house Yiayia4. I particularly like the scented ones.
They dont last long with the central heating on though do they?

Grandmabatty Tue 26-Jan-21 16:55:00

Grandmafrench I forgot to send buckets of sympathy. Poor you. I really hope you get to the better of it soon. To everyone who laughed at my tale of woe, so did I! He was so proud being able to tell me he was doing a tee tee. ?

Nannytopsy Tue 26-Jan-21 16:46:39

Could it be a flare up of arthritis GF? That extreme pain is how my knee manifested until it settled. Ibuprofen interferes with some BP medicines and causes it to rise. I needed a change of medication.

Yiayia4 Tue 26-Jan-21 16:28:31

Great news Soop fingers and toes crossed.

Sounds like you’ve had a fun day Grandmabatty typical little boy bless.

Hope the ankle is feeling better Grandmafrench it sounds so painful.

I bought some daffodils yesterday they really brighten the house up,spring is round the corner.

brook2704 Tue 26-Jan-21 16:06:03

Such good news from BT soop let’s hope everything is sorted tomorrow, fingers crossed ?
Ooops grandmabatty the joys !!
grandmafrench that sounds really painful, hoping it’s nothing too serious and you’re soon sorted, in the meantime try to have a well earned rest ..

Charleygirl5 Tue 26-Jan-21 15:59:00

Urmston when you fly to Spain I may well look after your flat for you- it sounds ideal for me and you may well have difficulty getting me out again! Seriously is it noisy there because you are obviously on the main road?

Grandamafrench you must get that ankle looked at because that is not normal to experience so much pain having done zilch.

Grandmabatty I am afraid I also laughed!!!!

soop that really is a beautiful photo of Fern. Has she put on weight? It is about time somebody is actually taking responsibility for their actions and with luck, all will be sorted soon. Seriously you should not be paying a monthly fee for many months.

Puzzler61 Tue 26-Jan-21 15:46:11

Oh, and Urmston you should continue sending DH to the shops downstairs with a list as he needs more practice to get things right.
Why don’t some men pay attention to the details? ? ?

Puzzler61 Tue 26-Jan-21 15:43:18

Grandmabatty your days and your hands are well and truly full with that cheeky GS.
Your leg is concerning Grandmafrench, it shouldn’t give way on you like that. Maybe an x-ray might reassure you? I hope it’s a little better today mobility-wise.
If BT get you connected tomorrow soop and we will assume they will ?, I am expecting a photo of one of the views from your window being a flag that has been hoisted to full mast to tell the world you have INTERNET finally !
grannysyb are you opening a marmalade shop? How many jars in total did you make?

Jaxjacky Tue 26-Jan-21 15:37:25

Oops Grandmabatty, little monkey! Good news soop someone being accountable, fingers crossed ?

Bellanonna Tue 26-Jan-21 15:34:26

Grandmabatty, that really made me laugh! (Sorry).

Soop I think I’ve missed quite a bit of Kitchen news. Who is Mr Soop? I know all about MacSporran - always thought he was your other half and I’ve seen lots of pics of him. Mr Soop seems to be a newcomer in your life. Are you two-timing by any chance? Not bigamy, surely?

By the way Fern is lovely with her little white patch. She’ll soon be living indoors like Rory.

I’m glad you’re having your jabs on Friday. Good news.

grannysyb Tue 26-Jan-21 15:20:11

Wonderful news Soop, hope they finally sort it out. The jumper is a red polo neck to wear on grey days like today. Hope the doctor sorts out your ankle, Grandmafrench, sounds painful. Doing sixth and final batch of marmalade, spicey meatballs have been made for tonight, off to have a lazy hour.
