That's excellent news Soop. Hopefully that'll get things sorted. Today has been fun and some. What follows is too much information:
The boy had a dirty nappy and it resembled rabbit or sheep purleys, if you know what I mean. I cleaned him up on his mat on my bed to save the old knees but miscalculated the amount of poo. I stepped back and stood on one escapee while three others rolled under the bed. It was my bare foot! As I was cursing under my breath, cleaning my foot and retrieving the roving jobbies, I heard a wee voice say, "Tee tee," and yes, bold boy had piddled all over the floor at the French doors. ???

Grandmafrench Please consult your GP. Something is certainly not right. Please keep us updated. flowers

I do indeed have further good news to share with you. A few minutes ago, a gentleman from the upper end of BT's management team called to say that he has arranged for an engineer to call tomorrow morning. Said engineer will be equipped with something that may help to restore out internet connection. He has instructed the engineer to contact him with an immediate update. Gentleman has given us his phone number and email address. He has promised to call us again on Thursday morning.

THANK you to those of you who gave us the info' that has made an enormous difference.

Grandmafrench Mon 25-Jan-21 23:34:46

Thank you, Hellogirl and it not only seems it, it is actually daft - you don't want a Cook's tour of the countryside, they should be much better organised than that. Best of luck sorting it out (for them!) and hope you have your vaccination very soon.

Grandmafrench Mon 25-Jan-21 23:32:05

I've put down the ice pack, put down the foot and just taken more painkillers. (Not ibuprofen- which are wonderful - because my Dr tells me that they always raise your blood pressure!) Once they start to work, I shall finally try lying in bed. Just can't turn my leg even a smidgen in any direction without feeling that someone is trying to break it. Totally bizarre. Constant pain since I did it and I'm already fed up. I shall indeed be off to the medicin traitant, Jax. I stopped whingeing to laugh out loud at the comments of your resident tea connoisseur. So, thank you for that. 3 sets of feline ears turned in my direction - they were not amused. Aren't men just hilarious? And quick? He's certainly taken his time to have a good think about the low standards in your production of a drink he doesn't drink. Love it!

Thank you all so much for the (predictable) kindness and concern. You will be updated, just in case it's anything interesting or unusual that might give you a moment's distraction in these torrid times. I shall pass some more time looking up your recycled cashmere producers, Maw. Good for you on the sandals front, Nams - you can never have too many sandals - or sunny days to wear them.

That tiny boy is wonderful, GrandmaB, and a credit to his country with the haggis-devouring! Hope you sleep like a log and feel completely re-energised tomorrow.

Night night all. x

Hellogirl1 Mon 25-Jan-21 23:29:24

A bit late, but Happy Burns Night to all our Scottish (and adopted Scots) members.
Fern is a truly beautiful young lady who obviously approves of her luxury apartment and menu.
Ouch Grandmafrench! I`ve been moaning about all my aches and pains, but I think yours surpasses. I hope you can get suitable medication to sort you out.
I`m shortly going onto the NHS vaccination site again, hoping to get somewhere nearer to home. It seems daft to be offered places miles and miles away when we have a mass vaccination centre here in town, plus my surgery is also doing it.

Nannytopsy Mon 25-Jan-21 21:27:16

Look after that ankle GF - it sounds so painful.
We went for a little walk round the village today - cold and frosty but a beautiful day. I feel guilty dragging DH out as his legs are so painful but I hope it did him good. Now I have finished the ironing and I am enjoying quizzy Monday with my knitting. I think a small whiskey might be in order!

BladeAnnie Mon 25-Jan-21 21:09:01

Oh my goodness - thank you for all the votes of confidence smile. My bed is now calling.... sweet dreams everyone

Grandmabatty Mon 25-Jan-21 20:46:04

Full on toddler wrestling today so I'm wearily waving to all you kitcheners. He was such a good boy but boy, I'm knackered. I had my haggis, neeps and tatties with him and his mum and dad. He can fairly devour haggis. Soop good news about the Jag. Grandmafrench it sounds so painful. Definitely a trip to your doctor is called for. I'm going to have a lounge on the sofa now. Take care all.

Namsnanny Mon 25-Jan-21 19:49:59

Happy Burns Night all! wine brew

Hope you get your painful ankle/shin sorted Grandmafrench ice and ibuprofen and rest is the best thing (as you obviously know) until you see the Dr.

You're not the only one treating themselves on line Grannysyb Ive ordered some sandals for the summer (yes in the sale MawBe grin)
But as they were, I've indulged and sent for 3 different styles.
Will they fit? It will be exciting to find out!

Urmstongran Mon 25-Jan-21 19:46:49

‘Evening All’
?

Well I’m addicted to the DofDS at the moment! I’ve watched two episodes already today and plan to settle down to watch another one in a bit. Why not? What else are we doing?
#lazygran

Had to laugh this morning. Himself went down into the square for groceries (he had a list). On his way out I asked him if he would go into Thornton’s and order a helium balloon to be picked up tomorrow ready for our granddaughter’s 4th birthday this week. Right O. He rings me 5 minutes later -

Himself: Yes, got one, pink ribbons & a number 3
Me: But she’s going to be 4!
Himself: oh .. good job I rang you ... bye!

Men?
Of course. One job at a time to focus on (Sainsbury’s). Anything else and they can’t think straight!
?

Lovely to hear of more jabs being done this week. Our Yorkshire Lass (NHS) had hers yesterday at a hub in Wakefield.

Ouch GrandmaFrench that sounds like pure agony out of nowhere and not very Arthur-ish sounding I agree. I hope your docteur can diagnose what’s happening and reassure you as soon as. Rest up till then.

Best wishes to any tartan grans this Burns Night ?

Right, I’m off to put the kettle on, cut a slice of cake (no, not home baked alas - never me! - Sainsbury’s lemon drizzle) and tune in to another episode of the DODS!

Hope everyone has a pleasant and peaceful night ahead.

‘Goodnight All’.

Doodle Mon 25-Jan-21 19:28:42

soop fantastic news for you both and getting your hearing aid fixed too. A good result.
Fern is such a beautiful cat soop.
grandmafrench oh dear. You must be careful. That ankle obviously needs checking over. Please take care.
Grannygravy good news about Granpagravy.
Happy Burns night to everyone ?

Jaxjacky Mon 25-Jan-21 19:22:32

two out of three soop let’s hope for the third and what an enigmatic cat!
Grandmafrench noooo, how gutting, off to your médecin traitant, get it diagnosed, more rest and elevation, your leg not you. I thought more tasers than cattle prods in our chariots for the BT sloths, a real kick up the btm, Mr S must be the most patient of patient people.
My Mr announced today, after nearly 22 years together, that I don’t know how to make tea properly! He doesn’t even drink tea, so from now on, he can make it ?

Doodle Mon 25-Jan-21 19:22:12

So many posts since I was in last. I will have to do a page at a time.
The first time you’ve made anything I’ve not been tempted with Galen. How about you give Gary the offal and I’ll eat his share of the next cake?
Maw your garden looked so pretty in the snow. Does Hattie like the snow? I would imagine not as she doesn’t have the luxury of a thick fur coat like some dogs.
Charleygirl glad you’ve been vaccinated. At home too. That is good service.
Urms I can remember watching the Duchess of Duke Street
when it first came out. I was but a young thing then ?

MawBe Mon 25-Jan-21 19:14:30

Come on Grannysyb “it was in the sale” ranks along with “this old thing” doesn’t it?
I’ll be honest I used to hide purchases in the boot of the car and sneak them into the house when Paw was in bed and I was doing the bedtime dog walk!
I buy my cashmere from TurtleDoves and don’t feel guilty because it is recycled cashmere , made in England and a small “kitchen table” company.
Well that’s my story and I am sticking to it
Seriously ????

GrannyGravy13 Mon 25-Jan-21 19:13:49

Happy Burns Night ?

GrandpaGravy has his Covid jab on Wednesday, yippee!!!!

Unfortunately I have to wait awhile as I am younger and my underlying conditions are under control

Grandmafrench Mon 25-Jan-21 19:07:13

Happy Burns Night, all Kitcheners who are celebrating.
Hope the weather is being kind and you are all warm, settled and comfortable after what sounds like some pretty hectic day to day stuff.

BladeAnnie I fourth that.....are you sure you are up to such a crazy timetable? Make sure you do nothing for a good while. GC's might be lovely but are exhausting....

You seem to have got the hang of this Eye Test lark, Grannysyb - and saying 'it was in the sale', about a cashmere jumper, doesn't mean that it was a snip! But you definitely deserve it - as soop says, we all deserve some treats. Good lord, how much longer are we going to be hanging around waiting for life to re-start? We need to give it a well-aimed kick in the nethers from time to time, to make ourselves feel alive and on form.

That little pusscat sitting on her apartment roof! She does make me laugh, she's so independent. She also gives a load of pleasure to our Kitchen Queen and her Consort. That matters more than anything. Now if Fern was running BT, you'd have seen some action long before now. Hopefully a firm, but restrained, missive from Mr Soop will be enough to make them spring into action - or at least stir in their seats. If that doesn't work, then Grans on Standby will be climbing into their chariots before too long, donning their helmets and picking up their cattle prods. Bottoms will be stinging for the foreseeable at BT HQ I think. (And why ever not?!)

I strolled into the garden this afternoon to fill up the bird table with more seed. I lifted up a foot - in no exaggerated way - to step sideways into the garden store. As I took my weight off my foot, I was almost floored AGAIN by a searing pain up my shin from my ankle. Ye Gods. It is now strapped up again, wearing an ice pack and listening to me moaning, groaning, cursing and generally being unpleasant. I suppose I shall have to get it X-rayed or scanned, just to see if anything weird has happened recently because it seems a strange way for Arthritis to behave. Dearie me. Yet another trip to the Doc - just as well she likes English people, or it could be seen as a fiendish plot to bankrupt the French Health service.

I am about to take some painkillers and calm down. Irrespective of my new Long John Silver status, I send you all warm wishes for a nice evening - pain and nonsense free. Please keep safe, keep away from any ice (unless in a tall glass) and award yourselves a small gold star for struggling through another week in once piece.

Hugs from moi in French France. ?‍♀️?

I third that*Blade Annie*
Mr.Soop enjoy your wee dram?

Puzzler61 Mon 25-Jan-21 17:43:48

BladeAnnie I second that!

soop Mon 25-Jan-21 17:39:57

BladeAnnie you are a super grannie. flowers

soop Mon 25-Jan-21 17:38:46

Puzzler A hat trick would be worth celebrating. I shall invite you lot to drink Champagne when that happens. Having something to look forward to makes a big difference to one's sense of wellbeing. My wish is that all our kitcheners could have cause to celebrate something that would lift their spirits. It's high time, I'm sure you'll agree.

Yiayia Well, well...we had no idea that it was Burn's night. Had everything been Covid-free, we would be gathering with our pals for a knees-up. I suppose that I should mention the fact to Mr Soop. He likes being able to celebrate with a wee dram. Seems churlish not to share the good tidings with him. wink

grannysyb Good for you. What colour will you choose for the sweater? What are the posh wellies like? Enjoy your treat. I keep reminding myself that we deserve some cheer in our lives right now.

I'm listening to the Ink Spots. Easy on the ears. Have completed the bike ride to nowhere. Heart beating a little faster. Colour in the cheeks. Ready to log off until tomorrow.

Fond good wishes to you all you special peeps. smile moon

BladeAnnie Mon 25-Jan-21 17:37:49

Good evening - nanna duty today so I've been on the go since 6am!! Mr BA concocted a veggie pasta bake whilst DGD was having her tea so I have no need to be in the kitchen tonight. He has gone to take her home now so pjs on and a well deserved sit down with Duncan!! Stay safe everyone

grannysyb Mon 25-Jan-21 16:58:20

What a lovely puss cat, in wonderful condition, thanks to her servants providing delicious food! Had an eye test this morning and don't need new glasses so came home and ordered a cashmere jumper, (it was in the sale,) from landsend! Must look and see if the posh wellies are back in stock for DH. He told me the wrong size, ordered them for Christmas, and when he tried one on he got his foot completely stuck! I couldn't get it off, we had to get our lovely neighbour to help and after much tugging he got the wretched thing off! Hope Soops problems are resolved, sooner, rather than later.

Yiayia4 Mon 25-Jan-21 16:04:51

That’s great news Soop very pleased for you.
What a lovely picture of Fern she looks so regal!

Happy Burns night to you all.We hosted one a few years ago ended up with twenty four people round the table hard work but great fun.
Still a bit of snow around but sunny today not been out since Thursday maybe tomorrow.
Take care all stay safe.

Puzzler61 Mon 25-Jan-21 16:01:45

Your excitement can be felt in the Midlands soop. You and Mr soop are to join the badge wearing brigade who “Have Been Done”. So glad for you, and great news about your hearing aid too. If only you would get a promise from BT (and that may come) you could claim a Hat Trick!

Fern is a picture of beauty and serenity. She could win any feline beauty contest.

soop Mon 25-Jan-21 15:33:44

YAY! Call from surgery five minutes ago. We're both to be vaccinated on Thursday afternoon. Also a call from audiology. Lady will repair my left hearing aid on Friday morning. At the mo' I'm not hearing at all well through the one that is operational. smile

Hellogirl Surely twelve years haven't disappeared into the ether since I painted your beautiful feline buddies. Unbelievable!

Mr Soop's missive to the executive of BT was to the point but remained the right side of courteous. I have never witnessed him being rude to anyone. He is more Zen-like than I'll ever be.

Thank you again for your sound advice.

I took a couple of photos of Fern earlier today. She was perched on the roof of her apartment. Talk about "butter wouldn't melt ..."

We had a brief stroll earlier, but the many patches of ice were off putting and I clung on to Mr SOOP's arm for fear of a tumble. We met a flock of sheep who had escaped from their field; they were heading towards the road. Good deed performed. We drove them back to where they belonged and the farmer is now aware that they went on walkabout. hmm
