Good Morning Tuesday

I'm not meant to have this vaccination. D rang me before to say her dog had collapsed. He's a big animal, cross between a Pyrenian and a Bernese so couldn't physically take him to the vet who said he'd be calling at 4. She's absolutely distraught wondering what it can be.

We're hoping in a way that he's injured his back because he was playing with the little cat chasing it around as though he was a puppy again. I know she'll be shattered if it's anything else, like a stroke. She did say that she fed him some boiled ham which he enjoyed and up to now he hasn't wet nor messed himself. He's 12 and D is fully aware that big dogs don't fare too well as they age because of their size and the strain it puts on their hearts and kidneys.

Just something else to add to her troubles. I half expect another call or she'll wait until tomorrow and pop in. Either way I dread it.

Have you ever thought of turning the television off and listening to Radio 4? There are some excellent programmes on it. I don't even have a televison set! Reading is also excellent.

Damp but milder day. It didn't half do some raining last night. It must have kept disturbing me because the couple of times I woke up during the night all I heard was rain. A bit of a lull so far.

Because of the forecast for stormy weather I got myself sorted and headed off to the butcher's and greengrocer so that I don't have to now bother for the next 2 or 3 days.
Chops ! Haven't had chops for a while so they'll make a nice change.

I haven't looked through your posts yet but will do so now, with a cup of coffee then I'll keep up with what's going on.
The old Tom cat showed up last night all forlorn so I fed him and he skulked into his kennel for the night which I was glad about because of the weather. He already looked like a drowned rat.

I had yet another phone-call teatime yesterday to go for my vaccination. This time I was offered an evening when there weren't so many people because I told the receptionist that I'd heard the place was packed----counterproductive when they're trying to keep infection down and a wait as well ! Blimey, I'll get it done yet !

I hope everyone's well and coping as best you can along with everything else that crops up. Thoughts if you're not too good and thinking of those who have appointments with GP's/ hospitals.x A special thought to Gilly too. x

12Michael I am so sorry you had a letter concerning your Glaucoma Monitoring at the Hospital in Banbury , with your appointment cancelled until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances .

I think you need to see if your optician will do the check and perhaps it is even worthwhile getting him to see you 6 monthly and paying for the extra check up.

Morning all from a grey overcast Kent. Well I made it - it was my 66th birthday yesterday! As I was reminded in several FB comments, I’m now officially a pensioner. DH found an’ On Your Retirement’ card in my stash of greeting cards and added my age and happy birthday to it! I realised that the card has been in the box for nigh on twelve years and I paid for it! ( Anyone remember Cards for all Occasions? )
Spent the day quietly - made chicken soup from our roast on Sunday, delicious! DH starting work earlier so left home at 18.00 instead of 19.00. Had a phone call from my mummy at 21.00 which lasted 90 minutes! All the usual family stuff ( I am eldest of eight!) , problems using her iPad (!) - she’s almost 89, saw a family name as a death on the church bulletin but hadn’t been told about it so I ended up doing a bit of surfing and was able to confirm. She’s a bit upset that things like that are happening and due to Covid, communication is incomplete. She will be able to view the funeral mass which will help.
Marydoll it’s good that you are able to help with DGD but please don’t overdo it. You can’t help at all if you’re in hospital! Is your DS thawing a bit due to your home schooling? As for DH, you haven’t mentioned his golf recently- maybe suggest a wee bit me-time for him so you can concentrate on Dollie.

My breathing has got a bit laboured (no other symptoms) so will have to contact the doc for possibly steroids (I hate them)

My DH is a fan of those railway programmes Marydoll they usually bore me to tears, I'd rather be there!! I did, however enjoy the programme dedicated to The Central Station!! One our trips to Glasgow we stayed and the Central Station Hotel. It was quite spooky coming out of a back door at the hotel late at night to a deserted Station. Last week Michael Portillo was at Prestwick (home) and Ayr - WOW
Was talking to my friend from Ayr yesterday, the highlight of her day was going in the car to the butchers!!

I am busy trying to set up my painting stuff in a back room that's not used (except for DH dumping stuff). He's going to have to remove some of it - the ladder?

I'm having problems with my letter writing ap and will have to try a different ap or get help!

Good morning all from an ever darkening Heathrow, it looks like the promised rain will be here any time!
I actually have something to do today! I am going across to my neighbours (in our bubble) to start sorting out her wall unit and 2 cupboards. She needs to move her furniture around as its a bit tight getting through doorways and as she is partially sighted (and getting worse) we are trying to make things a bit more roomy for her while allowing for the need for her to steady herself as she walks. The problem with moving the wall unit is it exposes a glass partition wall so my OH is going to put up plasterboard in case she has another fall, he did that in our flat as it is not safety glass. Why they put them in to flats for elderly and disabled no one knows!
She is a bit of a hoarder so this should be interesting!
I am waiting for her to have her shower before I go in, then its all systems go!

Morning all - a bit late as I've been reading with my GD remotely using Caribu! We've only been doing this a couple of weeks so it lovely to see how she is relaxing into the process!

In respect of meal planning, whenever I can I do one meal for us and one for the freezer. So tonight we are having shepherd's pie, made some weeks ago. When my allotment is abundant, I cook a lot of dishes for the freezer and am now reaping the benefit of courgette curries, moussaka (meat or vegetarian) etc. At the time it's exhausting but now it good to have 'nights off'!
My DH has started cooking each Sunday which gives me a rest! It does mean a lot of 'where is...' with me twitching to say ' you don't need to put so much water in..' but leaning to keep my mouth closed. It does mean I've had some lovely meals and he's enjoyed researching things like kedgeree, osso bucco to name just a few!

So hoping the sun will shine wherever you are and if not in reality, maybe in your memories!

Good morning Mick and all from Wet Withens, Northwest coast. Lots and lots of rain, I can’t hear it so much these days as I have tinnitus and I love the sound of rain, although how much rain do we need for heavens sake, not this much.
So I listen to the rain on my Calm app,
Walked and walked yesterday until my back complained and had nice distanced chats with other walkers which cheered up both parties (or cheered both parties up?) Watching the swans on the lake making that heart shape, lovely.
Light relief watching First Dates last night. Glad I’m not dating.
Sister with dementia in the south is phoning me through the night. I ignored it last night but it means a broken night. Poor thing, I feel for her.

Just popped back to catch up on your news, and to say when I looked at my daily journal this is day 300 since I began lockdown (I started slightly ahead of PM’s guidelines)

Good morning everyone from a brighter Northampton. Late again this morning, as even though I woke at 6.30, I must have nodded off again and next thing I knew it was gone 9am!

At least there is no rush to be up and doing things. Just the usual stuff, tidying up and clean kitchen and bathrooms, read the paper, do the puzzle page, read my book, and continue knitting. The cats very conveniently retire upstairs to bed in the afternoons, so I can knit undisturbed.

DD's birthday ? today, my baby is 38! Where did the time go? Was being prepped for my epidural section this time on that day! She will get her presents on Thursday when she comes to take me for my vaccination, and also pick up her DH's present as well as it his birthday next week. DS came down yesterday and left their presents in the front porch, and we had a nice chat through the front door glass.

Discovered when DS called that my front door bell no longer works, and on opening up the ringer found that the batteries had corroded, so the whole thing was dead. Thank goodness for Amazon - a new one arrives today. DS was getting worried when I didn't answer the door, and had to attract my attention by knocking on the window.

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where we have torrential rain of biblical proportions. We have your ‘weather’ *Gingster! So glad I met my friend for a walk yesterday as today will be a hunkering down day. I shall carry on with sorting in the wardrobe. I’m decluttering and actually enjoying it! (must be my Virgoan nature ha!).

Himself is expecting delivery of a smartphone. He bought it on line yesterday & tracking shows delivery later today. I don’t want one - I’m happy with my very basic Nokia. Calls & predictive texts are all I want on my SIM only contract. He is convinced I’ll change my mind in the weeks to come! Erm, no I don’t think so thank you.

Sorry to hear about your family upset Beauregard - as Sparkling says, too much time to ruminate doesn’t help does it as there’s nothing to distract us from our concerns. *Marydoll I can sense your upset over having to come to terms with a smalled-down life. You are one brave lady who always tries to show an upbeat persona, even though you’re probably crying inside.

Good morning from a very soggy but milder South Yorkshire. There are flood alerts for some areas nearby, with people being issued with sandbags. It's only a year ago that these same areas were flooded, with homes deluged, and it's looking as if the same fate is a strong possibility yet again (and some of those families are still not back in their homes from last years flooding). It's heartbreaking.

What a lovely surprise for your DH, yesterday, Kalu. Yes, is sad that your family couldn't come indoors - it's so hard, isn't it? Hopefully it won't be too much longer before they can come in.

Sorry to hear that your DD has developed 'the cough'. Thank goodness your DSiL is no worse.

Hello Mick and All from a dark and very wet Cumbrian coast. No good morning greeting today!
I ought to put a load of washing on but that means going outside to the washer in the garage and getting wet so I'll spare myself. Instead, a sort out and clean in my fridge and food cupboards then a day of indulgence ....reading, colouring, brain-training, meditation. No shortage of nice things to do but I'd really like to get out and meet actual people, as would we all I guess...and I'm putting that thought aside for the day as it's not a good one. Wishing you all a contented day instead.

Good morning from S Lanarkshire where heavy rain is forecast for this afternoon, there goes my walk with local DD, she lives nearby but shifts and weather have prevented us meeting since Christmas other than a quick ‘drive by’ chat.
Zoom book club this morning, I’m quite nervous, it was my choice this month and some people can be very forthright in their opinions! I chose a (to me) uplifting allegorical tale, The Hen who dreamed She could Fly and am now just hoping everyone didn’t think What?.

Good morning all from a wet looking Glasgow with rain forecast to look forward to.

It was DH’s. birthday yesterday. Early afternoon I called him into the kitchen for coffee, hee,hee. He got the best birthday surprise when he saw DD1 and the girls appear in the garden with his presents. It was wonderful to see each other face to face but the reality of the situation, the abnormality of not being allowed into our house, hit all of us hard. Fed up!

Oh well, must keep plodding on and look for positives whilst I search for my usual, can do attitude.

My dentist seems to think I can wait until the end of Feb to have a filling replaced despite a nagging toothache.

Further news since my last post is that the surgery phoned at 8.15am and offered us both the jab tomorrow at 5pm. It's not at our local centre but a 20 minute drive away and at rush hour not the best time or place. However I eagerly accepted the appointments!

Other news is that DD has developed "the cough" and is going for a drive-through test this morning. DSiL is no worse, thankfully, but it was pretty obvious that she was going to catch it from him.

Sorry this is all CV related but it is our focus at present. Wish it were not so!

Good morning from Staffordshire.

A dreadful drive over this morning, so much flooding on the roads.There was an accident at one point and a really brave man was standing on the verge in the pitch black before the flood waving a torch and directing us to the shallowest part of the flood.What a hero, he definitely saved more cars having accidents.I just hope the emergency services arrived soon after to take over from him.

I am sorry so many are feeling down in the dumps.

Wonderful cleaner is here working her magic so DH will stay in bed while she does downstairs. Bed changing day, some bill paying and admin, but not a lot to look forward to. PCC meeting on Zoom this evening is the highlight!

Still waiting to get a date for my jab but rumour has it that as our bit of the world has a lower incidence of the virus the vaccine has been diverted to areas where take up for the over 80s is low, so may have to wait. I wouldn’t mind but DH is obsessed about it and driving me mad over something I can’t do anything about.
