Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but dry , cold and frosty out there in Brackley this morning .
Plans for the day , will have a frying pan fry up for a change to my routine , usually cereal but a change is just as good .
I have started to use stock of food ,and some pre made up meals from the freezer ,as though this lockdown made me create some meals .
The usual Chinese which I normally have , will be down to the weather today , as staying in the warm is more inviting .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning all from a very frosty Polmont. I'm just up so a long lie for me. I had a lovely sleep which is extremely unusual for me and it has done me good. Momb I'm sorry you had a disturbed night. I can sympathise. Elizabeth I may be wrong, but Hrmc would never ask you to pay by email. Even when I got a rebate it was by letter. Be very careful. Viridian Annsixty said on another thread that she was taking a break. Yesterday was a productive day at Batty Towers. I was waiting for the gas engineer so got most of the weekly clean done a day earlier than normal. Dd and dgs popped in later on with morning rolls and a chicken pie and then the gas engineer arrived. Fully masked and two doors between us,he got on with the service. Dgs was not happy as he likes to know what's going on! Anyway, job done and ticked off til next year. I will have to brave the cold and scrape the car to head to the chemist as my prescription has run out. Then wash the bedding and the floors and everything is done. The rest of the day I'm going to draw and paint. Have a good day all

Good morning Mick, morning all. It’s still treacherous outside, the snow has frozen solid, I wouldn’t be surprised to see our ice skating neighbour whizzing by again. There must have been a rise in temperature yesterday for a while as in the middle of the afternoon there was a sudden, extremely loud, whooshing noise followed by a huge THUD. We opened the front door to be confronted by a large pile of snow which had fallen from the roof. So glad the postie had already called, could have been nasty. grin

I’ll put my cleats on my wellies and get out for a walk later, it looks like it could be another beautiful but freezing day.

That’s a beautiful picture Sar, I’d put that in a frame.

Getting difficult to pin a smile on every day but I’ll try to remember that the signs of spring are there, even if I can’t see them yet.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it has been snowing for the last hour or so. It’s starting to lie and really look quite beautiful. A car has just driven up the road leaving tracks in an otherwise undisturbed covering.
Not much planned for today as it’s exercise free day, but my friend in Somerset should phone any minute. I hope she’s had her jab. She panicked when she got the phone call as she wasn’t expecting to travel for it and has no family or transport and has hardly left her flat in 9 months. She said she couldn’t get there. Someone later reminded her to get a taxi as they we quite safe but when she rang back to say she could get there she was a the bottom of the list again.
Will catch up later.
Take care, stay safe everyone ?

Good morning from West Sussex where it is dry and a lightish grey, or as DH says is “just sitting there”.
grandMattie I am in awe of your prodigious marmalade session - 60 jars in one day! I have been doing batches of 3lbs of oranges with 2 lemons. Did 3rd batch yesterday.
Ashcombe, WILTY deserves a special award for cheering us up this past year. “The Last Leg” and “Staged” have also made me laugh.

Good morning, chilly here in Leicestershire.

Great excitement yesterday when the doctor rang to say they had 2 vaccines over and did we want them. I told him it was the most exciting thing that had happened in years! It was good we were done together as we are in 2 different age brackets.

I too laughed out loud at Lee Mack last night.

Vegetarian chilli tonight made in my new Ninja.

Have a good day everyone, on my walk yesterday I saw, snowdrops, hellebores, primroses and narcissi!

Elizabeth if you click on sender name their email address will show you it is not HMRC. The real HMRC correspond with paper letters. Please ignore as others have said

Good morning from the NE where there is a harsh frost and it is -1.
Soup making today, leek and celeriac, haven't tried this one before. Usually I make leek and potato or carrot and coriander.
Didn't message any family members yesterday, must check up on all of them.
Take care everyone.

Good morning Mick and the GM team from east London, where I can see a bit of blue sky - yay.

I agree Grammaretto, there are many, many floor washing days. I won’t be washing any floors today. I will have a walk, maybe in the sunshine.
We need to do our on line grocery order.
We are working our way through the freezer too. We have a couple of ‘contingency’ frozen pizzas, which we can have for supper. We also have some buffalo chicken wings (delivered with our groceries as a substitution and accepted by my partner!) so we’ll cook them and he can eat as many as he can manage. I hate chicken wings ... yuk. I will make a nice green salad to balance the pizzas, a bit.

It’s our film night tonight. Last week we watched an interesting film with Helen Mirren in it, called The Debt. Apparently we’ve seen it before and my partner remembered it quite well. I had absolutely no recollection of it whatsoever.

Thinking of Auntiflo and Travelsafar, hoping everyone had a decent night sleep and has a happy, peaceful day today. Let’s stay safe and ‘let’s be careful out there’. ?

Viridian Sat 23-Jan-21 08:15:57

It's disturbing Elizabeth, isn't it, when you get an email like this out of the blue? I'd email the HMRC, but not replying to the one you received in case it's a scam, and ask them to clarify your situation.

Happy 5th birthday to your DGS ginny I hope he enjoys his special day ???

Dwmxwg Sat 23-Jan-21 08:12:26

Good morning Mick and all from a frosty north Surrey.
WILTY is a favourite in our house too, nice to have a new series to watch. I have lots of TV catching up to do, Winterwatch is another favourite, with work and granny duties I have watched no TV for 4 days.
Was glad to get home to my bed last night, think I am not cut out for these long days at work, having to keep mind and body going for a 12 1/2 hour shift is for the youngsters.
DH and I are having a “special” day today as we have been apart most of the week and keeping a safe distance when at home. But we can dog walk together and have a scrabble tournament and steak dinner with Prosecco this evening (we have a long dining table ?). Simple things to warm our hearts and cherish what we have.
Love Carys bluebird Sar, very artistic.
Wishing all a good Saturday, I am going to read yesterday’s GM thread now to catch up.

Kalu Sat 23-Jan-21 08:11:26

Elizabeth. A few of us have had the same message from HMRC. It is a scam so don’t worry about it and just bin it and ignore. I was informed, if I didn’t pay up, I would be taken to court!?. Hope you have a good day.

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 23-Jan-21 08:10:06

Good morning Mick and everyone, I watched the briefing too, not good news, but we can’t change it so have to plaster a smile on my face and keep in touch with Family via the Internet.
Tiles are coming off of the bathroom wall this morning, once we peel the duck tape off they will literally, fall off. As there is still no sign of the Bathroom fitter we are using temporary panels to see us through the Winter, hopefully someone will want to plan and fit a new Bathroom.......so a messy noisy day.
Have as good a day as you can everyone and be careful out there it’s slippy.

brook2704 Sat 23-Jan-21 08:09:56

Lovely picture Sar, definitely a talented DGD ?

ginny Sat 23-Jan-21 08:09:19

Good Morning from N. Bucks.
After a beautiful blue sky yesterday it is cold and misty today.
Quick weekly food shop this morning , how exciting !

DGS 2 is 5 years old today. Would normally be with him and helping out with his party.☹️ He’s having a virtual party and wants me to see him blow out the candles on his cake. I have made a sponge too and he will help me blow out candles in that as well ! Apparently Superman is making him pancakes for breakfast.

I think that will be my ?for today. I hope you all find one too.

BibleBookworm Sat 23-Jan-21 08:06:19

Good morning, from heat - wave South Africa. I have the fan going already, 10 am, while I write letters.
I write to people to help them cope with life's pressures and stresses.
The article in writing about today is "Why Pray?"
Hubby is the hunter - and - gatherer today...... smile. He's gone shopping.
Enjoy your day everyone ??❤️

Good morning everyone from a cold, frosty and windy east coast of Fife. I’m quite perplexed this morning after receiving an email from Hmrc giving me a tax return outcome when in fact I’ve not worked for well over a year. Saying I owe them a sum of money. We even invited a tax official to help fill out a tax return in 2019 just after my stroke, he was asked to put into the form I’ll not be completing any future tax returns due to personal circumstances.why then did I receive this information. I know there’s many fraudulent hmrc emails going around so I just deleted these couple of emails I’m unsure of what to do next though. Help has anyone out there any further advice on how best to deal with this I don’t want to be stuck with a debt to hmrc. Sorry to off load this to you kind people during these awful times.
have a happy day everyone find something which will help you to move past the present trials this smile

Morning all from a cold North Leicestershire!

Delivery from the florist today so 'flower arranging' this afternoon and I want to take some round to a friend.

Hope to get a walk in sometime too!!

Lovely picture sar. And a pretty name.

BlueSapphire Sat 23-Jan-21 08:04:50

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Northampton, but a hard frost. Feels chilly indoors, so I have a nice hot mug of tea and a blanket over my knees. Just had a slice of toast and jam. The cats are chasing each other up and down the stairs.

Waiting for the paper to come so I can have a go at the crossword. Planning on making a chilli in the slow cooker with enough left to freeze. Will carry on with my knitting today; I finished a scarf yesterday and started on one for DD. It keeps my brain and hands busy.

Take care everyone and have a good day.

Scentia Sat 23-Jan-21 08:04:00

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is frosty.
Sar that painting is fantastic, I would be proud of that as a 54 year old let alone 9?
Today I will get my pushbike out to go down to the little Asian store as I have a recipe and it needs some odd stuff in it that the COOP just would not have heard of!
I haven’t heard from DD in days but that is normal when her DH is onshore, I don’t mind at all but it annoys my DH a little. I will go over to take DGS for our walk tomorrow morning unless we have snow.
I have a big smile on my face already and I have just got out of bed, I was trying to be quiet so I didn’t wake DH. I left the lamp off and I walked into the corner of the bed and my expletives were enough to wake him with a start and that made me laugh ?
I hope all my GM friends are feeling ok and can find something to make them smile at least once today.❤️

GrannyGravy13 Sat 23-Jan-21 08:00:30

Good morning Mick and all

Yep Sar53 it’s cold, just put my nose out of the window ❄️❄️ Beautiful picture, what a talented GD ?

No plans other than changing beds now DD and GC have returned home.

The house is quiet and after watching the PM’s bulletin last night I just couldn’t shift a feeling of utter despair. Sorry I know we have the vaccine but how are we going to move on and get back to normality?

Definitely need one of scentia’s smiles

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Grandmafrench Sat 23-Jan-21 08:00:26

Good Morning everyone. Sunny and blue here. Bit annoyed as my alarm on my tablet failed to chime....now I’ve lost half an hour so must shake my bones....off to hairdresser this morning. She’s lovely, always does a good job so I’ll look human again.....but I hate it. Always have done.

My tiny redstart is sitting in a flowerpot outside the window, pouncing on insects. Insects must be very hardy this time of year! Love your DD’s bird, Sar. WILTY always makes me laugh, Ashcombe. We need that so much now.

Enjoy your fry up, Mick.a little of what you fancy never did much harm. We can’t be sensible and good all of the time.

Careful where you walk today, no slips please. Horsey maintenance with barrows and bales this weather is hard work, Beau.Be respectful of your shoulder so life doesn’t become even harder.

After the Hairdressers, home for croissants and coffees then off to the beach. I shall do some sewing after lunch, I think. Should wash the floors but there are so many floor washing days. Morale is much more important now.

Hugs to all - especially if you’ve pain or sadness.
TOYA., until tomorrow. x ??????‍♀️?????

brook2704 Sat 23-Jan-21 07:59:10

Good morning everyone from Inverness, we had a bit more snow overnight but a dry clear sunny day is forecast for later.
I’m missing getting out in the garden so as soon as the snow eventually goes I’ll be out there looking for signs of spring... to keep me going I’ve got some indoor bulbs well on the way on the kitchen windowsill which I enjoy watching grow a bit more every day
Sounds like you’ve been very busy already momb enjoy your cycle later...
Hope your shoulder is soon better beauregard and your Dgs feels better soon gaga
I’ll probably just go for a local walk today - yes I know I say that every day!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Viridian Sat 23-Jan-21 07:54:24

The painting is beautiful Sar, lovely use of colour. Clever 9-year-old.

Viridian Sat 23-Jan-21 07:52:35

Morning all from a cold but dry south Cornwall. Feel like I've run a marathon and then been put through a meat grinder after the grandchildren came yesterday. The 5-year-old studiously informed me about several sources of calcium, and how to tell a chameleon from a gekko. Ha ha. How they grow up...

I agree that the Parsley Box meals are small. For me, not being very mobile till I get new hips, they're adequate, but maybe not if I was moving around more. Talking of hips, haven't seen Annsixty recently, or maybe I've just missed her posts. Hope you're ok Ann.

A TV and knitting day today, easy does it... Hope your day is bearable, everyone.
