Cruises - would you ever go on another cruise?

We have considered a river cruise occasionally but never interested enough to book one. Have never been interested in the big cruise liners. We much prefer to be able to just do our own thing when and where we please. We usually book self catering cottages, I don't care about a bit of washing up and cooking on holiday and it means we can eat what we want when we want and come and go at will.

Have been on a couple of Scandinavia/Baltic cruises on small ships. We enjoyed them both but have never fancied those massive ‘floating hotel’ type ships. I love being at sea and watching the waves and the wildlife. The social side of it doesn’t interest me.

We where at the rugby club we go to for dinner then a match. Everyone was discussing what trips and cruises they had booked. A person opposite me asked where my last cruise was I replied that I had never been on one and don’t wish too either.
The other diners at the table seemed really surprised. If I went on a cruise I would feel trapped. I would eat too much drink too much and be very bored.

I'm with BlueBelle - never been on one, no desire to ever go on one! The idea of being cooped up on a boat (however luxurious it may be) with all those other people is my idea of hell.

I ve never liked the thought of cruises the ‘being captive’ feeling and having to mix with people who love dressing up and wearing posh clothes just isn’t me (nothing wrong if that’s your thing ) but since seeing those poor souls having to quarantine on those cruise ships at the start of last years lock down it would have sent me loco and has put me off any thoughts of ever trying it
It’s a real marmite thing those that love it and those that couldn’t bear it
A lot of people wouldn’t like my dream holiday which would involve camping of some kind

One of my clients and her sister in law used to. Too many tales of food poisoning ripping through the ship.
And now, with Covid?

PS "cruising" used to be synonymous with men in cars slowly driving through the Red Light District looking for a 'working' girls.

I never have but always wanted to. I'm not so sure now though. Possibly too social for me anyway, and there's covid!

I have cruised just once on the most magnificent ship but it's not for me.

I felt I couldn't get to know the places we visited. Not my idea of a holiday.
I like to find out how a place ticks.

I would hate it. Those ships are so big. We have watched them coming in to Venice a few times and hundreds of people pouring off. Not for me. I do enjoy watching Jane McDonald's cruise programmes though. I'll stay as an armchair cruiser!

I dont think we will. We have only been on one anyway and found it not too our taste- it was very expensive. As it is I dont think I would be happy for a very long time to go where there are lots of people in a confined space including airports.

Never,i would feel hemmed in and wouldn`t want to see the same old faces constantly.

Some of the ships are so big you don’t see the same people twice though. You can opt not to go with the same people for evening meals.

I like the thought of the Hurtigruten cruises, but doubt we will do another any time soon.

We were booked on a world cruise Nov 20/March 21. Booked it in March 2019 and of all the things I thought would happen to make us cancel a pandemic wasn't one of them!

My husband won't fly so if we want to see the world we have to cruise. I can't see us going anywhere for the next few years though.

I wouldn’t, nice though it is. Cruising has always been risky with norovirus breakouts but covid is a different matter, so no, not for a longtime.

I don’t like the idea of cruises as I don’t like socialising, but I was going to give it a try then this happened!
