Good Morning Saturday, in absentia for Mick

Good morning everyone from a wet E Kent. The forecast is for a very wet day. Unusual as the rain usually misses us. I hope Mick is still fine and he comes back soon. X
I’m very excited as I only have two edges of the quilt I’m making for DS2 to go. All I’ll need to do to finish will be to embroider my initials and the year, like a true professional (which I emphatically am not).
I’m praying so hard for the poor pregnant young woman, her baby and family. I hope today brings better news.
Today is going to be a lovely day for everyone; all worries banished, ☀️ and ? in our lives! Stay safe.

I just looked it up, squirrels. x

Goodmorning all from a snowy white Lueneburg. I hope that Mick is here soon again. I have been out in the morning to clear the path to the house and on the path next to the road in front of the road of snow. We have to do that before a certain time. I love doing it anyway. So I got my wish lots of snow. Winter wonder land! I also have to put some walnuts into the garden for the two red squirrals who live in the small forest next to the garden. I just hope that the wild boars (they sometimes sleep in the forest) don`t come into my garden foraging for food. I am afraid that Waldi would run after them. He doesn`t think that he is only a small dog. So, hopefully you all have a peaceful day. Be your worries be small ones. Keep well and take care. x

Glad you are safely home now Mary ?

How sad Kitty for that young man and his family.

Sparklefizz Sat 30-Jan-21 09:22:20

Kittylester so sorry to hear about your daughter's friend - so young.

Marydoll I hope the rest of today is peaceful for you after such a busy and stressful time. flowers

I don't always name people individually but I do hold everyone who's struggling in my thoughts. x

Good morning from a soggy south Cornwall. Very broken night so I watched The Polar Express and ate marzipan.

Yesterday my 5 year old came with a fistful of her precious finds for me, seaglass and shells, bless her. A bit moving....

Have decided to learn another language with DuoLingo, Italian this time. The sessions really take my mind away from the current confinement, and one day I just may get on that European rail trip I promised myself...

Today I'm writing to a young guy in prison, who's just heard he's moving to an open prison soon, a great step forward. I visited a high security prison once and the impact of it has never gone away.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a damp NE.
DH has gone for bread, milk and a paper, it is a year today since I was last in a shop.
Same old routine today, sit on the computer until lunchtime and then watch TV for an hour. DH goes to lie down for the rest of the afternoon and I amuse myself.
I think I might watch The Dig today.
Have the best weekend you can.

Good Morning everyone from a warm but currently overcast S of France.

Welcome Lilypops. Yes, you can’t fault the quality of the membership on this thread!

Hope today gets better for lots. Thank you for some lovely messages and comments. Reckon some of you would do well opening a health spa or retreat. You’re overqualified! ?

Need to give myself a smart kick in the hind quarters today...yesterday was not a good one. My DH’s dental emergency appt was cancelled an hour before !!!!!! by a totally unprofessional and uncaring woman. She took on her retired DH’s patients at the end of last year, clearly fancied an afternoon in the sunshine and actually had the temerity to suggest he accepted an appointment (for this emergency) mid Feb. ? Today will be spent searching for a professional! My oldest cat is very poorly and is undoubtedly at the end of his life. Why can’t they just live forever?

At a logistics hub in Marseille, we have finally tracked down a massive paint order, “exported” by a very reliable British paint shop. All paid for, including transport and door to door delivery. Unfortunately the exporters failed to enquire about new taxes from the carriers who took our paint to France...this time via Belgium and Germany. Nobody wanted to focus or take responsibility for extra demands for money. Our property has now been waiting for some huge ransom to be paid (not by us!) for days. Problem is no one will actually get to grips with picking up a phone - even to enquire how much the ransom will be. Logistics company only capable of asking people to phone or mail them, they can’t be bothered to reply! Only people going bonkers? Us!

They’ve agreed to refund our money but, of course, don’t want to have to ship the paint back to the UK again. Wonder how long before the odd grey cell drops into the slot and the obvious solution is clear? We’re not holding our breath!

Lots of mails are owed by me to friends in the UK whose problems eclipse mine over and over. Unfortunately my cheeriness is spread quite thinly at the moment. (And loads of us are already singing from that hymn sheet.......or we would be....if only we were allowed to sing! ?)

So, I need to just get up and get on and stop thinking and start doing! Small achievements during the day are the key, for me. My foot is holding up, probably due to my wearing supportive, comfortable (but so very ? hot) cross-trainers all day yesterday. Porridge and the day awaits.

Virtual hugs, good wishes and smiles to you all. We can probably keep on keeping on if we collectively haul up our big girl pants and stick together. Other suggestions on a postcard if you’ve time. ?

TOYA. Stay safe, stay sane. xx

Good morning all from a chilly and frosty Glasgow. Thanks GM for opening up, I hope Mick hasn't abandoned us.

I have no further news of my friend's granddaughter. Yesterday was the day the obstetrician was going to make a decision about delivering in the baby. My assumption is that no news is good news. I haven't heard from my other friend, who usually is in contact and he is very quick to alert me if anything is wrong. I can't stop thinking about that young woman, who even before the pandemic, went through so much to have this wee baby.

I'm exhausted before I even get up! An early text from DD telling me Tesco slots were available, which was so helpful. She thought she was doing the right thing by booking one, but hadn't realised that she needed my credit card to complete the process.
I then had to look for my credit card and log onto my PC, but DD was already logged into my Tesco account, what a palaver, it's not even 8 o' clock yet! I know she was only trying to be helpful! ?

Yesterday's hospital visit was a bit surreal. We are in full lockdown here, yet the roads were so busy. The hospital car park was full at 8.30am, but inside the hospital was like the Marie Celeste. Where were the owners of all these cars?

I was the only person in the waiting room, which is usually bursting at the seams with staff and patients. It was very reassuring to be the only customer.
There were some highs and lows, but one piece of news was unsettling.
The good news is that the nasty injections are dampening down the inflammation in my body, but I will be on them indefinitely.

There is a tiny M&S food outlet in the hospital grounds and on the pretext of a walk around the hospital pond (in the rain), purely therapeutic, I managed to convince DH to come into the shop to satisfy my craving for a sticky iced, raspberry bun and some potato scones.
Big mistake! DH was extremely anxious (so unlike him) , my glasses were so fogged up that I couldn't see and the the one way system was blocked by old ladies, masks under their chin, unable to make up their minds about what they wanted. I could feel myself getting quite stressed about it all. When did I turn into such a wimp?

I picked up some flowers for my neighbour, who had recently found her aunt dead, but when I got to the checkout I decided I would like some myself. I asked the assistant to charge me for two bunches and I would get the second bunch on the way out.
Unfortunately, the one way system was blocked and we had to go the wrong way. I picked up my flowers on the way out, but the assistant at the door thought I was a shoplifter! ?
DH was not amused at all!!
The icing on the cake (pardon the pun) was that DD and SIL came up with supplies when we got home , spotted the iced buns and they were history!

I was thinking of Auntieflo yesterday and hoping her appointment wasn't too upsetting. Such sad news about your daughter's friend Kitty. Glad to here your family are making progress, Gaga.
Hoping you feel a bit more upbeat today, Sar, its so hard being a mum. ?
I'm always afraid I miss someone, so sending virtual hugs to all of us, none of us have perfect lives and many feel unable to share their worries. ?

A gentle day for me, yesterday's expedition has left me exhausted, but a uplifted that I managed it. Take care all.

EllanVannin Sat 30-Jan-21 09:07:44

So very sorry to hear this kittylester, no age at all bless him. x

Anniebach Sat 30-Jan-21 08:56:23

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Greyduster Sat 30-Jan-21 08:54:04

Good morning to all GNs and good wishes to Mick . It is grey , damp and gloomy in South Yorkshire, so we will not be going out. DH’s team have a match today so he will be listening to it on the radio while I am making soup, and a curry for tommorrow. It will keep me out of mischief. Have a good day, whatever you’re doing and stay safe.

Stilllearning Sat 30-Jan-21 08:48:34

Morning from my bit of S Lanarkshire where it’s bright and frosty. I’ll try to send my weather over your way baubles!
I should get a decent walk today, perhaps this morning while the going is good.
A friend who has been teaching yoga and meditation but who has been becoming a little confused over the past couple of years, video called me last night and we have decided that she will put it in her diary and call weekly to do some meditation together. It means I will have to do a short practice every day so it will be a genuine teaching experience for her. I hope it helps.
Prayers for those who need them, have a good day everyone, hoping very much for better news from Marydoll

NotAGran55 Sat 30-Jan-21 08:42:17

Good morning from soggy West Berkshire .

Sweet FA to do today other than tidy a cupboard or something equally interesting. We are trying to avoid carbs so no baking to amuse me which is my fall-back position usually.

No football ⚽️ today either as my team played and won smile last night .

For the first time ever I grew a few vegetables in lockdown last spring and want to do it again this year . Perhaps today is the day to do some reading and research ...

Hoping that Mick is doing fine and sending good wishes to the poorly people here and those with troubles .

dogsmother Sat 30-Jan-21 08:39:47

Kitty so sorry ? horrible news too young for this.

Lins1066 Sat 30-Jan-21 08:37:51

Good morning all from a wet and windy S Welsh coast.
We enjoyed the zoom Murder Mystery last night, the actors were excellent. Put my pearls on and summoned my inner Miss Marple but didn't pick Whodunnit, very good twist at the end.
Might do some baking today and hopefully there will be a dry window later for a walk. We are on the edge of the yellow snow alert but a rarely have any this far south, we'll see. At some time this weekend I will do the Big Garden Birdwatch survey, do that every year.
Pasta with homemade tomato sauce, mushrooms and garlic bread later.
My best wishes to Sar and her family. Thinking of Susan and all the missing posters. Stay safe everyone.

ginny Sat 30-Jan-21 08:32:38

Good Morning all. Horrible, wet and windy here in N. Bucks.

Had a bad night. Weird dreams and at one point I woke up crying and shouting. So I also managed to scare DH.

A quick local food shop today and an hour watching the birds for the ‘Great Garden Bird Watch’. Although considering the weather there won’t be many around.

I sent ( see photo) this to my 3 DDs last night , it made them smile .

Hope it gives you all at least one? today.

Kalu Sat 30-Jan-21 08:32:18

Good morning all. Another hard frost here in Glasgow with a crimson sky and no rain but looking too risky for a walk outside. A few laps around the garden may be my exercise for the day.

Couple of plants to repot and a delivery of spray paint to look forward to today and of course, some housework.

I found a simple recipe for cheese bread on a site called, Cake on the Run, will try that out today. As a cheese addict I am hoping for a successful outcome. ?

Hoping everyone has a brighter day. The days are becoming just that little bit longer before sunset and January is almost over at least.

kittylester Sat 30-Jan-21 08:30:43

Morning all!! North Leicestershire is very wet. And, it doesn't look like it's going to stop for a few days. We shall need supplies dropping off by drone at this rate!

We heard last night that the brother of DD2's best friend is very poorly. He was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of colo-rectal cancer and the NHS advised palliative care. His family found a private surgeon who said he would perform surgery, a fund raising page was set up and he had the op just after Christmas but new lesions have appeared. They all had so much hope that the op would work. He is 38. So, so sad!!

Sorry to bring the mood down

Sparklefizz Sat 30-Jan-21 08:22:27

Good Morning GrandMattie, Mick (if you're reading) and all GNs from a very wet South Glos ...... but I have a song in my heart as I'm having my vaccination late this afternoon.

The weather forecast mentioned possible snow but thankfully we only have rain. I want nothing to stop me getting to the vaccination hub to get my jab !!

My daughter said she has seen photos online of people's arms with the needle going in. They take a selfie while receiving the vac and then post it on Facebook, and she asked me if I was going to do the same. Definitely not !

Her boyfriend's mum died of Covid 3 weeks ago so she and my son have been very anxious for me to get the jab.

So that is the highlight of my day .... nay, of my whole weekend .... meanwhile I'll be changing the bed today and clearing other chores.

Special thoughts to anyone who's feeling heavy-hearted or unwell. x flowers

Lilypops Sat 30-Jan-21 08:17:35

Good Morning everyone one a wet and windy Wirral,
This is a lovely thread, you are all so thoughtful and concerned for each other, I don’t know of many of your troubles but I do wish you all a peaceful and happy weekend, to all you have off days it’s ok to have a tearful meltdown. I do, it’s the situation we are in. We can only cope with so much in these dark troubled days ,then we just have to let it all out and hopefully feel better after, Happy Saturday !

Beauregard Sat 30-Jan-21 08:14:43

Good morning all. It's raining here in Derbyshire this morning, so we'll collect the rainwater again for ? drinking water as the yard tap still isn't flowing. Surely it can't still be blocked by ice!

We'll watch racing on tv this afternoon and then a walk out later.

Hope you have a happier day today Sar and that we hear better news from Marydoll. Also hope Mick is back soon.

Have a good Saturday all.

brook2704 Sat 30-Jan-21 08:13:29

Good morning everyone from Inverness where there’s been more overnight snow, we’ve had such a lot this January but hopefully it’ll be gone soon and I’ll get to see the garden eventually.
Thank you grandmattie for opening up and best wishes to mick
Sorry to hear you’re having a sad time just now Sar I really hope things will get a bit better soon ? also hoping for some better news from marydoll
You’ve really impressed me with your cycling Elizabeth very well done ?
I’ve nothing much planned for today, DD2 might get in touch about going for a walk but will see ... I tried to ask yesterday if she wanted to meet up today but she just said she’d decide today so who knows...
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is kind and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Pittcity Sat 30-Jan-21 08:11:59

Good morning from a wet and windy Colchester. The temperature has plummeted.
As we have no weekend plans we will be mostly eating and watching TV. Spicy pasta tonight.

dragonfly46 Sat 30-Jan-21 08:10:58

Good morning it is looking damp in Leicestershire.

Really must do a little cleaning today. That means whizz the Vac around and clean the bathrooms. I may do a little more of my jigsaw or I may watch more of Anne with an E decisions decisions!

Thinking of Marys friends GD and others with worries.

baubles Sat 30-Jan-21 08:10:22

I forgot to give a weather bulletin, it’s foggy and damp in S Lanarkshire today. Wish there was an edit button!

Sar I hope you have a better day today.
