Good morning everyone from a wet E Kent. The forecast is for a very wet day. Unusual as the rain usually misses us. I hope Mick is still fine and he comes back soon. X
I’m very excited as I only have two edges of the quilt I’m making for DS2 to go. All I’ll need to do to finish will be to embroider my initials and the year, like a true professional (which I emphatically am not).
I’m praying so hard for the poor pregnant young woman, her baby and family. I hope today brings better news.
Today is going to be a lovely day for everyone; all worries banished, ☀️ and ? in our lives! Stay safe.

Oh dear, it's afternoon. I forgot to post. I read the early posts while I still lay abed and then thought I'd get up and post as I had breakfast. But the paper had arrived so I did the crosswords and sudokus. Never mind. We have had our first (and I hope last) snowflake here on the Angus coast, where it's breezy and too cold for more snow. We're all struggling now, aren't we. I'm a January-hater, and this year I am convinced both clock and calendar have been on a go-slow! Roll on Monday and February! The snowdrops are nodding their pretty white heads now, so that's cheering too. And last Monday there was definitely some warmth in the sun. Just the usual round of little this 'n thats at the old blacksmith's cottage but I am becoming adept at laziness so another day will pass and we'll be closer to Spring. Keeping Marydoll's friend's DGD in my healing thoughts, and now also Kitty's young friend. So unutterably sad. For the rest of us struggling on, here's wishes for hope and happiness and ☀️ ? and ???

Hello everyone, just creeping in from a windy north west coast. My cat jumps in and out of the bedroom window (bungalow) and it nearly came off its hinges.
Terrible night’s ‘sleep’ as my neighbours bins crashed all night and I had cramp.
Blood pressure checked yesterday and too high, so will have to be monitored. The only thing to make it high was mucking up appointments for my vaccination online, the appointments kept disappearing and moving further away. Might wait for the GP to get in touch.
Lovely FaceTime with old friend whose partner is suffering greatly with mental health issues at the moment, we had a cheery chat, which helps.
Watched a French/polish art house film, rather bemusing.
Thoughts to anyone troubled and I hope you all have a good day.

Good morning. Very windy in Lancashire today, it was so noisy last night but the garden looks intact. A few years ago we lost several plant pots and a fence so I always have to go and check now. Today’s plans are physio, laundry, cooking though not necessarily in that order. Mr. B is putting shelves up in the new shed. Hoping to get out for a walk if the wind doesn’t get any worse.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday.

Kitty that is really sad news there does seem to be a lot of young people having advanced cancer .
Georgesgran my dil had same problem with her last two pregnancies it makes pregnancy less joyful for them.
?to all having problems or worries .

Litterpicker Sat 30-Jan-21 11:37:49

Good morning from West Sussex. Looking out I think the rain has stopped for now.
Something has sucked all the energy from me today and pumped fog into my head ?. I did have a longish walk yesterday and cooked a pressure cooker full of mince and veg to freeze for bolognese etc. That must have been too much for me!
Thoughts to all with worries and sadness ?

Good morning GrandMattie and everyone from a dark and drizzly S Wales. We seem to have missed the snow so far unless it's on its way. The weather forecasts pass me by in a blur as we're not going out and every day is Groundhog Day still.

Thinking of everyone who is having problems, ill-health and difficulties ??? and of missing posters - hope Mick is fine and will soon be back steering the Good Morning Ship.

I had a dream last night about going for my "jab" but, apparently I'm not allowed to relate it on a Saturday morning in case it comes true. It was just an anxiety dream.

CherryChezzy I think it's the South Wales sniffles - comes from nowhere.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 30-Jan-21 11:22:15

Good Morning all from dry, chilly Harrogate - this is my 2nd post, 1st is somewhere in the ether!

Love the funnies - I've decided if we are to survive this, we have to laugh!
Glad you survived your hospital trip Marydoll you do have some adventures!!
Kitty that is sad news, indeed.
I learnt a friend near Llandudno has died cancer which is sad. She hasn't been well for a while.

Today, I have decided to put my old Kenwood on the table and give it a really good clean!! It needs it.

Have the best day you can folks and hope to see my missing pals return soon!

Marydoll Sat 30-Jan-21 11:14:45

Hazbeen, that indeed is good news!!
Borrheid, we hopefully will get together and reminisce about our convent school days, nearly fifty years ago. Who would have thought it was that long?
Auntieflo, I'm glad you got through yesterday. Years ago I a similar scan and it had a positive outcome. Because I was radioactive, I wasn't allowed back to school, so I got an unexpected day off with a brilliant excuse. ?

Good morning, Everyone....it’s dry and sunny on the Cumbrian coast but with a strong cold northeaster blowing. Further south seems to be worst this winter for once.
I took the car out for an hour’s spin. My excuse being that I need to make sure the battery stays healthy in case I need one of those midnight trips to the hospital. It does need a run out now and then but, really, it’s me that needs to get out and see how the rest of the world is getting on. I couldn’t bear to stay within my four walls another day. Now I feel so much better mentally but feeling for friends and acquaintances who I know are no longer mobile enough.
The countryside is looking beautiful though there’s little snow left on the western hills now. I hoped to see lambs but I guess it’s too early for them hereabouts.
I ought to do a little housework but I’ve just started another book so maybe not!

Borrheid55 Sat 30-Jan-21 11:04:05

Marydoll you have us all on tenterhooks waiting for a hospital report. I am so hoping that we can get together when this is all over so please keep doing what you are told!
I don’t think Kent is going to dry out any time soon another night of continual rain.
DH did a shop on the way home from work this morning. When he asked yesterday what do we need I said ginger jam, honey and a nail brush. We have loads of food in the freezer and plenty packets and tins. He spent nearly £100! “ It was on special offer “ is his mantra. Doesn’t matter that we have a stock of shampoo, crisps, biscuits. He did get the jam and honey. I asked ‘ what are these? “ when I saw two packets on the shelf. It’s your nail brush. Oh no it’s not say I. Emery boards and buffing files are not nail brushes. When I showed him the old brush he said ‘ that’s a scrubbing brush! ‘ I then suggested he tried cleaning the kitchen floor with it.
I’m not a fan of shopping, I hate browsing, but I am looking forward to getting items that I want/need myself without the palaver of explaining. Maybe a shopping list with pictures would help....
Stay safe everyone and good health to all

CherryCezzy Sat 30-Jan-21 11:02:29

Good morning everyone from rainy Gower. Thanks for deputising grandMattie.

I had difficulty sleeping last night and woke up with a blocked nose this morning hmm. I'm wondering if it's got anything to do with the fact that I actually went out, to the pharmacy, yesterday ?. Perhaps it's the shock ?I'm on a go slow today but if I go any slower I'll turn into a stone statue I think ?

Decisions, decisions today. Do I start the jigsaw I was bought for Christmas, continue my non artistic artwork or do I clean the extension and mop all the floors? ?. No footie for me today as my team play tomorrow, tough opponents too ?

Kitty that is very sad news, far far too young!
I'm with you Marydoll, no news is good news I hope ?. Sounds like your hospital appointment was a mixed experience to say the least! flowers
Sar, ? and a ? from me.
Susan, I hope you are feeling a bit brighter, all things considered x

More goodmorningers receiving the vaccine, great news ?

Stay safe and cosy everybody ❤️

HAZBEEN Sat 30-Jan-21 10:46:21

Good morning everyone from a very wet Heathrow!
Well at last I have some good news! Firstly yesterday the doorbell rang and it was a courier with another prescription of my (oral) chemo. My consultant had changed my appointment for next weeks phone call and had arranged for my tablets to be delivered so having to go to the unit to pick them up. Then I got a text from my GP and my vaccination is booked for Tuesday! I am only(!) 64 but am on the shielding list so its my turn! Marydoll after your thread about whether we could have it or not I got the go ahead so hopefully you will too.
I received a lovely bouquet yesterday as well from a very kind friend sent to cheer me up, they are beautiful.
It was a busy day yesterday as I also got my delivery of wool so I have started knitting a cardigan, I haven't done anything that big in a long time but hey ho I have the urge!
Special hugs and love to all that need them and am praying for Marydolls friends and their family. Hope Auntieflo has good news from her scan.
Stay safe all.

Auntieflo Sat 30-Jan-21 10:41:42

Good morning GrandMattie, and thanks for opening up. Greetings also to Mick and Annie. By the way, is Mick still able to read this? Haven't yet caught up with what's what, and will go back and read everybody's posts later.
Can I do a Marydoll Saga?
Are you sitting comfortably, then I shall begin...
Yesterday morning I had my Coved Vaccination, and was impressed with the organisation that goes into ensuring all goes smoothly and efficiently, with the clinical staff and all the volunteers who are working long hours.
So far, touch wood, I have had no reaction to the jab.

Breakfast was at 08.30 and I was to have nothing to eat until after my treatment at hospital, in the afternoon.
I was picked up by a volunteer driver and taken to hospital for my PET scan. He arrived early and so we were in plenty of time for my appointment. The mobile unit was positioned at the back of the warren of buildings and from the written instructions ( not very clear). On the way round, I spotted a unit that had 'Mobile Scanner' , written on it's side. So said thanks and goodbye to the driver, and got out of his car. On investigating this large white, abandoned unit, I soon realised that it was like the Marie Celeste. As I was early, I waited for 10-15 minutes, then as I was getting anxious, I asked an ambulance driver, if she knew where I could find said scanner. No, she wasn't familiar with this hospital, and said to ask the chap in that van (Ambulance) over there! Which I did. By this time I was feeling very anxious, a bit teary, and cold, so Bless him, Kevin, was so kind, found a wheelchair in his van, and took me to my destination.
I hadn't realised that these scanner appointments are run like clockwork, and each one is timed precisely, so in the end I was glad that we had arrived early, as it gave me the time to be '"lost and found' .

I was duly booked in, another questionnaire, blood tests, etc, etc, and the had a cannula inserted and a slightly radioactive solution, injected. After which I had to wait for approx an hour for it to percolate around my body. Then I was fed through the scanner, lasting 15 mins or so. My DD and DIL picked me up, after also having trouble finding the mobile unit, and drove me home, where I was revived with lots of tea.
Results will be sent to the consultant, who I am booked in to see next Friday.
Apologies for the long ramblings, and thanks to all who have sent good wishes.

maydonoz Sat 30-Jan-21 10:37:27

Good morning all from a wet and dreary Welwyn in Herts.
Thanks to GM for starting up today, and like others I hope Mick is well and will be back here soon.
Am planning an easy day indoors today, still feeling a bit exhausted after having the DGC (1.3mths and 3.6mths) all day yesterday. Eventhough DH helps, I seem to do most of the work with them, it just shows there is an age for everything! Childcare is for the young and fit, but they are both lovely and a joy to have around.
We've not heard anything re vaccine so are waiting patiently and continuing to be as careful as possible, which we must carry on with post vaccine as well.
Wishing all of you a pleasant day.

Gelisajams Sat 30-Jan-21 10:28:09

Good morning from a dry but extremely windy Morecambe Bay. The wind was not forecast last night when we were discussing what to do today!
We seem to be going to bed later and later then getting up later and later. I think my body clock needs a serious re set. I’m not naturally a morning person, but I do like an early morning walk with the sunrise. If we have a sunrise.
Dare we book a holiday cottage? DH wants to walk the SW coastal path, or at least a good section of it. I’m not bothered about doing so much walking so we would take DS2 who lives alone, with us, for company for me during the day. This was supposed to happen last year but of course was put on hold.
In the meantime it’s on with the crochet. I will get this blanket finished!
Take care, stay safe everyone ?

BlueSapphire Sat 30-Jan-21 09:53:55

Hello and a late good morning from a very wet Northampton; in fact it is now trying to snow. So will be in the warm today and hoping to start on my new cardigan, cats permitting!

Not much else planned except for the usual stuff.

Had a reminder yesterday to renew my driving licence, which I did on line. Not that I drive any more these days, . but it is useful to have just in case, and also a handy form of ID.

Will go back now and read the thread. Wishing all a good day.

LauraNorder Sat 30-Jan-21 09:49:30

Good morning Mick, grandMattie and all from wet and windy Anglesey.
Some very sad happenings Kitty and Marydoll such awful things for young people to be going through.
Nice to be able to cry together, laugh together and hold each other together each morning.
Have a peaceful Saturday everyone. Stay warm, stay safe.

Urmstongran Sat 30-Jan-21 09:49:23

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s bitterly cold but forecast to stay dry. If we all wrap up warm we might take the opportunity to meet up with our daughter, son in law and grandchildren in the park after lunch. At least say hi and watch them cycling around. Better than nothing and the last 3 Saturdays have either been torrential rain or snow!

So much sadness and heartbreaking tales on here today. My thoughts are with you all during such tough times.

Sar53 I don’t know if you may find comfort from me telling you that my younger sister was diagnosed with aggressive Stage IV breast cancer. She had a mastectomy, removal of 16 lymph glands from her armpit, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and reconstruction. That was almost 5 years ago now! She and her husband retired to live in Casares in Spain last August. She is well and happy. Sometimes we just need to hear of the good outcomes from cancer I think.

It’s football for Himself at tea time. A tough game for Man. Utd against Arsenal I believe. Takeaway curry tonight.

Hope Saturday is kind to us all. Thank you for opening up as our reliable deputy every morning granMattie. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

dragonfly46 Sat 30-Jan-21 09:47:49

So sorry to hear about your DD’s young friend kitty life can be so cruel.

Sorry you had unsettling news Marydoll things are never straightforward are they?

Georgesgran Sat 30-Jan-21 09:46:45

On-going.

Georgesgran Sat 30-Jan-21 09:45:43

Good morning from Durham. Raining again! Had planned a walk with a friend who’s working from home, living on her own for the first time in her life and feeling a little stressed. Will see how the weather is later.
DD2 is having problems with her pregnancy - diagnosed with SPD - very painful as well as her in-going chronic pain. I wish I could do more.
Cheered by DHs appointment for his vaccine on Monday night. Only a few miles away, but we’ll have to do a trial run in daylight as it’s unfamiliar territory.

Wishing everyone a safe day. X

grannysyb Sat 30-Jan-21 09:42:50

Wet, (again) here. Thanks to GM for opening up, hope Mick is OK. Saying a prayer for Marydolls friends daughter. Not much on here, might do some sewing. I agree that this has been the longest January ever! Hopefully you will all have a good day.

Grammaretto Sat 30-Jan-21 09:38:43

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where at least it has stopped raining. I got soaked to the skin yesterday but my pal (who gets me out in all weathers) reminded me that skin is waterproof and we are not made of sugar!

You survived the hospital trip Marydoll and definitely deserve flowers flowers
I hope so much that the news from your friend is good.

I hope my DS will come today and help me change a light bulb as I don't like sitting in semi darkness. How did you manage to do those tapestries, Bayeux team, and write those novels, Jane Austen, without a decent light?

At least the toothache is easing and the drugs are beginning to kick in.

Have as good a day as you can. Kitty, Sar and all in pain or anxious.

GrannyOwl5 Sat 30-Jan-21 09:34:59

Good morning everyone from north Kent which is wet and dismal.

Excitement today at Owl Towers is that DH has just returned from being jabbed. Everything went smoothly and efficiently and the main feeling is one of relief.

Are you new Lilypops? Welcome if you are. Urmstongran will be along soon to ask how much your house is worth - a small initiation rite!

Glad to see you both back posting Marydoll and Grandmafrench; sad news about your cat. It’s never easy when beloved pets get older. Hoping for good news about your friend’s GD Marydoll.

Hope everyone with worries or illnesses have a better day. Have a good Saturday everyone. Stay safe

Alygran Sat 30-Jan-21 09:33:09

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It looks like it’s going to be a bright day so I may go out for a walk or do a bit of tidying up in the garden if it’s not too cold.
Wishing everyone a good day. Stay safe.
