Good morning GrandMattie, and thanks for opening up. Greetings also to Mick and Annie. By the way, is Mick still able to read this? Haven't yet caught up with what's what, and will go back and read everybody's posts later.
Can I do a Marydoll Saga?
Are you sitting comfortably, then I shall begin...
Yesterday morning I had my Coved Vaccination, and was impressed with the organisation that goes into ensuring all goes smoothly and efficiently, with the clinical staff and all the volunteers who are working long hours.
So far, touch wood, I have had no reaction to the jab.
Breakfast was at 08.30 and I was to have nothing to eat until after my treatment at hospital, in the afternoon.
I was picked up by a volunteer driver and taken to hospital for my PET scan. He arrived early and so we were in plenty of time for my appointment. The mobile unit was positioned at the back of the warren of buildings and from the written instructions ( not very clear). On the way round, I spotted a unit that had 'Mobile Scanner' , written on it's side. So said thanks and goodbye to the driver, and got out of his car. On investigating this large white, abandoned unit, I soon realised that it was like the Marie Celeste. As I was early, I waited for 10-15 minutes, then as I was getting anxious, I asked an ambulance driver, if she knew where I could find said scanner. No, she wasn't familiar with this hospital, and said to ask the chap in that van (Ambulance) over there! Which I did. By this time I was feeling very anxious, a bit teary, and cold, so Bless him, Kevin, was so kind, found a wheelchair in his van, and took me to my destination.
I hadn't realised that these scanner appointments are run like clockwork, and each one is timed precisely, so in the end I was glad that we had arrived early, as it gave me the time to be '"lost and found' .
I was duly booked in, another questionnaire, blood tests, etc, etc, and the had a cannula inserted and a slightly radioactive solution, injected. After which I had to wait for approx an hour for it to percolate around my body. Then I was fed through the scanner, lasting 15 mins or so. My DD and DIL picked me up, after also having trouble finding the mobile unit, and drove me home, where I was revived with lots of tea.
Results will be sent to the consultant, who I am booked in to see next Friday.
Apologies for the long ramblings, and thanks to all who have sent good wishes.
