I think it may be a good idea to give it a bit of a rest
Strongly disagree
Good Morning Thursday 13th August 2026
Hexham - is it a nice place to retire to - cousin retiring there?
I am a 'lockdown-joiner' to this forum, welcoming the opportunity join in with others who are similarly 'shut inside'.
I have been wondering whether people have found that the site has changed in any way over the last year?
Themes/quantity of posts/membership/patience/tolerance?
Just curious!
I think it may be a good idea to give it a bit of a rest
Strongly disagree
[email protected] is the one I used Iam
I got the usual bland reply!
gt66
Not everyone is unhappy that the lady with the thin dog has been banned.
Are you a new poster, gt66?
If so, welcome.
You're entitled to your viewpoint of course, but, as a new poster, how do you know what is going on and why?
kircubbin try reading 3 posts up from yours. That will put you in the picture.
?
I think that it might be a good idea to give it a bit of a rest
Why, FannyC?
I tend not to give in on unresolved problems.
I can’t send an email to the contactus@gransnet address
Anybody got the right address
annodomini
In view of the strength of feeling manifested in this thread, I suggest that HQ should consider a general amnesty. Rescind the permanent suspension and cancel the final warnings issued to other members. This would be 'in the spirit of the site", as you say, Maggiemaybe.
agree with annodomini's sensible suggestion.
At a time of crisis when so many people are living alone, isolated at home, missing friends and family and possibly bereaved, it is cruel for GNHQ to take away the only lifeline they may have, the only support they may find at this time.
Possibly our families are busy home schooling, dealing with work problems from home (if they still have any work) and we don't wish to burden them further so Gransnet provides that lifeline.
An urgent response to our pleas is required.
Less intransigence during these troubled times would be appreciated, GNHQ. Thank you.
Shrub
honeyrose do you mean this one www.gransnet.com/forums/tv_radio_film_arts/1291009-Naked-attraction ? I think it’s still there under TV.
Thanks Shrub. I must have missed that. I’ve just left a comment about NAked Attraction on that thread.
I give up. Wasted nearly a hour on this thin dog mystery and still have no idea what its about. Someone has been banned .
I m not uncomfortable with this thread because sometimes in life things need badly to be brought out into the open and not kept quietly in the background the more it’s kept swept away the more it will simmer and pop up every now and then and be out of anyone’s control
It needs to be here in the open so we all know where we stand

I think Esther would be very interested.
I've come to this thread late, I hope I've got it wrong, but has MawB been banned?
If that's the case, such a shame and very
She was a prolific poster and well liked. One of the best aspects about GN, is the support it gives to those who are bereaved, Maw under several guises has posted very movingly about the loss of her late husband, I'm very sorry to hear that she isn't here I hope the ban is temporary, I can't imagine what she's done that is so awful to receive such a draconian punishment. It seems very cruel, particularly when those living alone aren't able to mix as they would normally, G, does I imagine provide some comfort right now. One of GN's strengths imo is giving support to those who need it at various junctures in their life. Some on here through their careers have the expertise and knowledge to give very helpful advice as to health and domestic problems.
I still miss Jings, I know she ran off at the mouth a bit, but she was often dead funny with it!
Heavens, I better go back and read through the thread have only skimmed the last few pages. I clearly haven't a clue what's going on. Robust disagreements are part of life it. There's an awful lot of silencing as far as debate is concerned out there in the real world. Retrograde step backwards imo
Good post, Casdon.
As a bystander without the obviously long history I feel uncomfortable about the level of detail of some of the references to individuals and the inferences made
Even with the long history, I’m uncomfortable with it as well.
I have been overwhelmed by the strength of feeling on this thread. I very rarely post but enjoy reading Gransnet and in particular getting to ‘know’ many posters who with their forthright views and interesting points on many subjects have kept me from falling into dark times. I have reported Annodomino’s post and have asked GNHQ to be magnanimous on this occasion.
Yes I have no doubt she'll be back under another name before long. And this is the person who has repeatedly castigated others who have changed their username, quoting GN's rules that specifically disallow this
A wise post Kandinsky. It’s a very sad situation, but nobody actually knows the detail of anything which has happened on private messaging or in correspondence between GNHQ and people who have been warned or banned, and as is this isn’t a court probably never will, or maybe should.
As a bystander without the obviously long history I feel uncomfortable about the level of detail of some of the references to individuals and the inferences made, and it feels inappropriate for this to play out on a public forum.
Perhaps a Zoom meeting between those that feel most passionately and have been identified and GNHQ would be a way forward?
Chewbacca
That's her 4th? flounce so don't hold your breath.
It's taken me a while to catch up on all the posts since Sunday evening, when I last looked in, and I'd like to nail my colours to the mast of the majority voices on here. So many wise and valid posts that reflect how I feel about GN's draconian and very cruel treatment of a much respected fellow GNetter so I will join in in contacting GNHQ to ask them to reconsider.
I'm sorry to see that another poster decided to flounce in high dudgeon yesterday; it's always sad to see anyone leave, especially at a time when we're relying on GN more than ever. But, having personally witnessed their goading and "setting up", I'm optimistic that the tensions and anger they created will ease a great deal across GN now. ?
May be Esther rantzen would be interested
Kandinsky that was a really honest post. I think that is the case on a lot of occasions..
Brava Bathsheba !
Can’t honestly see why anyone would describe maw as marmite.......
gt66 there are a number of people on here I don’t agree with but I would not be happy to see them banned. What a boring place this would be if we all agreed with each other.
Actually Gagajo there have been a number of occasions on slow news day where the press have been very interested in contentious issues on GN.
It wasn't that long ago that the press picked up on one particular story and did an article on it taking quotes from people whose screen names they used in the article.
gt66 I dislike the opinions and posting style of some GNers but it would be small minded of me to be pleased they were banned! I can't dislike the person as this is not RL and I do not know the people posting.
Very well put Bathsheba. I hope 'they' see the sense of it.
