The changing face of Gransnet?

I am a 'lockdown-joiner' to this forum, welcoming the opportunity join in with others who are similarly 'shut inside'.

I have been wondering whether people have found that the site has changed in any way over the last year?

Themes/quantity of posts/membership/patience/tolerance?

Just curious!

I don't think that it will be deleted.

Sorry, forgot to add 'today, at any rate'.

I have a very dry sense of humour but like Marydoll I re-read everything I write and on the whole, I prefer to stay in the kitchen- I get into less trouble there.

As I said yesterday this will be gone by midday, hopefully not me with it!

Me too. Having been roundly told off by a couple of posters for my opinion, I avoid some posts because of several posters; others I don't go to becaus I know it will be spiteful and unpleasant. Yep, kitchen is the place for me!

My wretched phone won't do the laughing emoji BlueBelle!

Marydoll Sun 31-Jan-21 09:43:13

Kitty, I believe you are on a hiding to nothing there. It will certainly be deleted, but unfortuntately it's HQ's way or no way, so sadly, I don't think anything we say will make any difference.

I got it let’s have a bet as to what time this thread gets pulled
I m going for 11 05 am Next ??

If MN is the same as GN then posts are drawn to the attention of GN, they dont sit watching the thread. So if there are more deletions then it is likely due to the members reporting more.

X posted sodapop. I agree with you.

kittylester Sun 31-Jan-21 09:17:53

I suspect this thread will be deleted when gnhq spot it but can I make a plea that, before they do, they read all the comments and consider what we are saying.

The "spirit of Gransnet" makes me think its becoming a club where everyone has the same ethos, lifestyle, ideals etc. Not the diversity of opinion and people I envisaged when I joined.

In the meantime, I'm off to pack my ear muffs and snowboots.

It's magical!

Marydoll Sat 30-Jan-21 23:55:31

Do you think the platform will be able to accommodate so many? ?

Callistemon Sat 30-Jan-21 23:51:45

If we've been banished in the morning, shall we all meet under the clock on platform Nine and three-quarters at King's Cross - post-Covid?

Doodle Sat 30-Jan-21 23:42:23

Callistemon at least I will be in good company grin

Nannytopsy Sat 30-Jan-21 23:41:47

I tried to support a member too and in a previous tussle with the troublemaker who disappeared a while ago. Got nowhere.

Marydoll Sat 30-Jan-21 23:37:55

It seems that to many of us the current system doesn’t seem right or fair. Will GNHQ take note?

Doodle, I doubt it very much. I too, like you, have tried in the past. To no avail.

Callistemon Sat 30-Jan-21 23:37:17

Marydoll

*Bluebelle*, all spontaneity has gone. I remember when posters used to have quickfire banter, however I now read and re-read before posting.

The Queen of quick-fire banter was banished a long time ago.

Oh what fun we used to have .....

Nannytopsy Sat 30-Jan-21 23:31:18

Lucca I made a comment similar to your one asking Charleygirl what she had been up to, about our missing friend and it was deleted! Let’s be careful out there.

Callistemon Sat 30-Jan-21 23:28:46

Never been suspended or banned
After this thread we may find we've all been sent to the Gulag Archipelago in the morning.

I've read the book .....

Doodle Sat 30-Jan-21 23:25:12

Never been suspended or banned. Don’t do political threads and usually just poodle along getting drunk in the Argy, eating cake in Soop’s kitchen and recently hooking up (no not literally Lemon) with a lovely bunch of gangsters in the lockdown gang. I was so upset that a certain long term and much loved member was banned by GNHQ that I wrote to them twice asking them to reconsider.
On both occasions in their reply to me the same phrase about not being in keeping with ‘the spirit of gransnet’ was used.
I’ve been on GN many years now and I find that over the last 6 months or more there has been a lot more slapped wrists and suspensions and deleted posts and threads than I have ever seen in the previous years.
Is it worth asking GNHQ if they have new members who are bring their own version of the rules to bear.
Why aren’t these new rules printed so we can see them.
Deleted threads and posts aren’t consistent.
I know some while ago there was a poster who got several posters into trouble but seemed to be allowed to say whatever she liked without being chastised in any way.
It seems that to many of us the current system doesn’t seem right or fair. Will GNHQ take note?
Charley you are one of the nicest people on GN. I can’t understand how you got into trouble. Please don’t get banned.

Callistemon Sat 30-Jan-21 23:24:16

Living under threats is not the way to go, nor is treating us like naughty children.

After all, none of us are exactly like Trump, are we.
(Or is he on GN? shock)

Marydoll Sat 30-Jan-21 23:06:09

There is only one word to describe how I feel about GN just now, disappointed.

Posters who have supported others and contributed so much have been hounded off or are living with threat of suspension hanging over them. It's definitely not the GN I joined.
