Quite refreshing really to have been able to air our grievances without rancour or deleted posts.

I once joined a forum, one of the many french expat ones, (where I had 'met biba but she wasn't on this one) where most of the members had been banned from other forums.
It was unmoderated and went quite well for some time. Even with all the rebels.
It would be interesting if the warned and banned Grans started their own forum. .

Surely it's good to have different views and opinions or discussions will become very dull.

I am genuinely sorry that some of you have lost the pleasure of interacting with a dear friend. I am also sorry that she has lost the pleasure of being a member of this community too. I do understand the the concerns regarding the decisions the Mods have taken, but...

None of us knows why they did, only they know and they aren't going to share that information. I do wonder if they are functioning on a 'rules are made to be broken, so lets not have too many' principle which allows for a deliberate flexibility?

Equally, I was emailed yesterday about one of my posts and their point was taken. Within that email I was invited to report any concerns about suspicious activity by other posters. So, I think that the major problem here is with the encouraging of secret reporting. The Mods more than likely think they're supporting confidentiality - which is good, but what they are also encouraging is good old fashioned snitching - not so good. It's a system open to many abuses - but, it's their party and their rules, however arbitrary and in order to be here at all we must tolerate it.

Unfortunately the topic of vaccines is quite a sensitive subject, because gn is a large site, maybe they could have just banned her from that particular thread not the whole of gn or as said above a 2 week suspension.
If someone dislikes an individual's comments, surely they can just block them themselves?

I don’t know what Maw did to get banned but I cannot believe it was that bad.

I want to propose that genuine posters on GN (i.e not those that wander in and post a contentious thread or advertisement) are not permanently banned but are suspended if necessary for a week or two and allowed back. If the are really that bad then the suspensions would mount up and they wouldn’t be posting anyway.

I’m for banning the ban. Anyone want to stage a sit down with me ?‍♀️ I’m going to do a Swampy on GN. I’m sitting here on this thread (and the next one) till you change your mind.

Hi Leokitty your mum has become a good friend and was one of the first to welcome me to GN 8 years ago when I first posted on the estrangement thread.

I'll miss her here on GN but thankfully have her email address so we'll be able to keep in touch.

I meant in the past. She was accused of being banned and coming back with different names. Not true. She is banned now.

As I've said in this thread, I asked about someone who was missing and got short shrift, by other posters.

I wasn't speculating on their health, their sexuality, or anything else.

When I went missing for a while I was flattered when other posters expressed concern. So yes Mis Adventure it depends what you say.
