It’s the first thing I look at on a Saturday morning.
Often has me in fits of giggles!

I really enjoy his haplessness. I look forward to reading his column on a Saturday. I enjoy Romesh too.

Oh, I haven't read his column for years as I no longer bother with a Sunday paper, but I did love it. He's the one with the ukelele and the tales of his gigs isn't he? Mind you, that was a few years back. And the dogs? Lovely, gentle humour and I always thought he is the kind of person I would like at my fantasy dinner party.

I love his column. Not a fan of Romesh tbh. Maybe I should try reading him again.

Ilovecheese Tue 02-Feb-21 12:13:55

He sounds like a lovely husband and father.

GagaJo Tue 02-Feb-21 07:50:28

Yes Maizie, but understandably. He's so ineffectual! Not in real life, I'm sure.

MaizieD Mon 01-Feb-21 23:32:56

Goodness, yes. I love his column.

So bullied by all around him.

GagaJo Mon 01-Feb-21 23:24:42

And the tortoise!

Maggiemaybe Mon 01-Feb-21 23:21:18

Yes, I’m a fan too. His column’s a joy. Love his battles with the bullying squirrel!

GagaJo Mon 01-Feb-21 23:10:41

Oh yes, also Romesh. Love him too. Which is odd, because I don't always enjoy him on TV.

It's that self deprecating maleness that is so funny. Arrogant blokes should learn a bit of it. Better to make a woman laugh.

Urmstongran Mon 01-Feb-21 23:08:43

Dowling.. should proof read. It’s late,

One of my very favourite Guardian columnists GagaJo. My daughter and I chuckle over him every week. We e followed him through the years - definitely more than 12y. I can’t believe how old his boys are now! Family life in the Downing household. A joy!

And Romesh of course!

BlueBelle Mon 01-Feb-21 22:06:35

Who is he then ?

Blossoming Mon 01-Feb-21 21:59:17

Never heard of him.

GagaJo Mon 01-Feb-21 21:58:33

Anyone else a fan? I love his column. His ineffectualness surely has to be put on?

I started reading him because he reminds me of my bloke. But now I read him for the humour.
