TV turning on of it's own accord.

How old is it?

If you unplug it at night it should be safe enough!

I'm a terrible skinflint, so I was hoping to get another few years out of the tv. blush
It is old, though, and was secondhand when I got it.

Unplug it when you go to bed

Sorted.
Don’t leave it on standby.

Quite possibly,if you can get a new one.....

There is probably one of your neighbours who can't understand why their TV won't come on when they press their remote.

MissAdventure Tue 02-Feb-21 14:27:50

Yes.
That's what makes me nervous!
What I'm really asking though, is if it is likely to catch fire or something?

Have you seen Poltergeist?!

MissAdventure Tue 02-Feb-21 14:19:16

It is quite eerie creeping into the living room to find it lit up with a bright green glow from the telly.

I thought my grandson was turning it on as a joke; he thought I had forgotten to turn it off before bed.

Then we caught it in the act.

Definitely not....?

Grandmabatty Tue 02-Feb-21 14:16:32

I wouldn't go towards the light when it comes on.

Esspee Tue 02-Feb-21 14:15:27

I’d suspect it’s haunted and buy a new one.

MissAdventure Tue 02-Feb-21 14:13:30

Has anyone experienced this, please?

Usually in the middle of the night, my tv starts making a horrible, really loud crackling noise, followed by a bright green 'interference' type effect onscreen.

It slowly clears, and on comes the tv.

Is this a sign that it's dangerously old and about to blow up?
Is it haunted? shock
