Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,and looks cold and frosty outside this morning here in Brackley .
Having returned from 8 days in Hospital , which started with a mini heart attack , heart rate 191 , I was rushed to the banbury Horton Hospital , where I have undergone various, blood tests etc , with slight changes in medication due to condition , The Hospital was not one of the most enjoyable places to be thanks to Covid , but the NHS ticks on regardless .
I did get tested 3 times whilst there all negative .
Have returned a mail backlog both online and normal post , have to arrange my jab as well .
Take Care ,
Mick

Auntieflo you're one brave lady. flowers In my thoughts x

Welcome back Mick - I don't post often but I do follow this thread most days (usually a bit late in the day). I am so glad you are back home and hopefully taking it easy.

Auntieflo I’m so very sorry that you were given bad news. But where there’s life, there’s hope. The medics have amazing technology at their fingertips these days and what would at one time have been a poor prognosis is no longer the case. The fact that your excellent team will be putting together a treatment package speaks volumes. Also I remember reading years ago that the older we get, the less active our cells are and so cancer does not replicate as fast in the older population.

I think you are pretty awesome to be honest. I sincerely hope you are kept well for a long long time. x

dragonfly46 Fri 05-Feb-21 14:05:40

Thank you for coming back Auntieflo I was with you all the way.
It makes such a difference to see a sympathetic doctor although the news was not good. A treatment plan sounds good though and something which I am sure will help. The best news I had when I was diagnosed was that it was treatable.
I hope you feel better after your Baklava flowers

TopsyIrene06 Fri 05-Feb-21 14:01:42

Welcome back Mick. Love your daily updates thank you.
Auntie Flo, Thinking of you.

A warm welcome back Mick and best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. Thanks to GM for excellent AdC performance.
Another’follower’ and occasional poster here, from the Herts/Bucks border.
Lovely sunshine and birdsong to start the day but rapidly clouding over now.
Best wishes to all, particularly those with sickness, troubles or worries. Keep safe and well.

Feelingmyage55 Fri 05-Feb-21 13:56:01

auntieflo. Thinking about you. ?

Scentia Fri 05-Feb-21 13:38:36

Auntieflo. I am sorry to hear it is not the news you wanted. We have a wonderful NHS as I am sure you know. I pray that a treatment plan is in place sooner rather than later.xx

Callistemon Fri 05-Feb-21 13:32:24

Welcome back Mick and I hope you're on the road to recovery now, take care.
Your Aide-de-Camp did an excellent job in your absence.

Auntieflo I am sorry to hear your news and hope the treatment plan can be sorted and underway asap. flowers

Best wishes to everyone from what was a sunny S Wales until we had a sudden sharp shower a few minutes ago. It looks as if it could be an afternoon of rain now.

Auntieflo Fri 05-Feb-21 13:12:25

I have skip read , and so will go back and catch up shortly, I just wanted to say. Good afternoon Mick, so nice to have you back. Please take care of yourself. To Annie and all.
Also thanks to GrandMattie, for opening up in the last few days

Also, I would like to say a big thank you to all who have wished me well for this morning. It means such a lot. ?

The news I had was not good really, I have cancer deposits on my bones, mostly in my hip. So now I have to wait to go for a CT scan and bone biopsy, and maybe a tissue one as well. The Dr we saw is lovely, and took as much time as we needed to ask all sorts of questions. I was scared and apprehensive, and will have to wait for the results . I will then be offered a treatment plan. So, I now wait . DH and DD came with me and so maybe took in more than I may have done.

I do hope I haven't put a dampener on this lovely warm thread, but I do welcome any thoughts from people who have had similar.

Am enjoying a welcome coffee just now, that we are back home, and a piece or two if the Baklava that DD gave me in the car park, with Walnut Whips and a bowl of budding bulbs.

See you all soon.

Good afternoon Mick! Welcome back from sunny Beccles. All good here. Had a lovely walk along the beach earlier. Can't believe it's going to be snowing at the weekend!

Sar53 Fri 05-Feb-21 12:00:45

Gingster in 2012 I was commuting for four hours every day and didn't have
the energy for watching the cycling at Hadleigh !!! I did see all the visitors and helpers on my way to and from Fenchurch Street though. It seems such a long time ago now. I had only been living in Essex for 2 years then.

Nannytopsy Fri 05-Feb-21 11:59:50

I was in the virtual audience for the News Quiz yesterday which was a real treat. Very funny, although the best bits won’t make it off the cutting room
floor! It will be broadcast today at 6.30 on radio4. I recommend it to cheer you up!

LauraNorder Fri 05-Feb-21 11:56:16

Have skipped straight to the end to say a very good morning and welcome back Mick. I’m so glad you are on the road to recovery.
Thanks too to grandMattie for keeping things rolling along.
Just started to drizzle here in Anglesey. Have had a chat with family in Australia again this morning, lovely to see smiling faces. Little cry afterwards because I miss them so much. Please God we can get back to safely being with our families soon.
Going back to read your news.
Stay safe and optimistic everyone.

EmilyHarburn Fri 05-Feb-21 11:56:07

So glad you are home safe and well. May you continue to recover and to pick up your interesting life style again.

mamaa Fri 05-Feb-21 11:53:53

gillgran agree wholeheartedly. I've never liked the term 'lurker' so would not use it. Other descriptive terms could be 'observer', or 'reluctant/shy/less confident contributors'...these too sound much less unsavoury!

Justwidowed Fri 05-Feb-21 11:48:20

Good morning Mick glad to see you're back and recovering. Take it slowly and avoid the bus trips for a few weeks.

Best wishes to all struggling with anything whether physical or mental.

Good morning from another rainy day in Glasgow but as Marydoll says, thankfully milder.

So pleased to see you back with us Mick what a frightening experience you have had. Some R&R to get you back in your feet until you fully recover.

I know the lack of confidence feeling when only occasionally driving now Marydoll Go out on your own when you feel like it, is what I do to give my car a run. Even in normal times I refuse to drive with DH as my passenger. I have been driving for almost 50 years but he makes me feel as if I am having a driving test!

He has many good points though, one of them being, arriving back from our local shop with a few bunches of daffodils yesterday.
Great news late afternoon when a blue envelope was posted through our door. DH now has his appointment for the jag.
12th Feb. at Louisa Jordan, 13th Feb. for mine at Carmichael Hall. A chap was doing the rounds with a sack of blue envelopes. It felt like Santa making his deliveries of gifts.

Best wishes for a pleasant day to all.

gillgran Fri 05-Feb-21 11:39:09

I was just thinking that the name "followers" that Ashcombe used, sounds so much better than "lurkers".

I do wish that there was a "like" thingy, on GN................. then I would be even more of a "follower"..!!

Nannagarra Fri 05-Feb-21 11:27:00

Good morning from the Sefton coast where the sun is brightly shining. It’s good to have the very popular Mick back at the helm. Take care and get well soon.
Nice one, GG13! Love the speedy move! # go getting grannies.?
Hoping for improvement for Dwm and Georgesgran’s DH.
Wishing for a good outcome for you today, Auntieflo. ? You remain very upbeat in your posts. Amazing.
Thinking of the soon-to-be mum having the C-section. ?
Have the best day you can everyone. x

Suederlou Fri 05-Feb-21 11:26:43

Another long time lurker here full of good intention. Posting from a damp cool Fylde coast to give a warm welcome back to MICK and wish him a good recovery.

Feelingmyage55 Fri 05-Feb-21 11:22:41

Good morning from a cold but not as cold north of Scotland. Mick very relieved that you are back and hope you continue to recover well. I guess you have to isolate for 10 days so although that is difficult it will help you to rest up. I think you are in some kind of sheltered housing scheme? Does that mean that there is a member of staff who will fetch your prescriptions, any necessities? I do hope so because it will be comforting to have some real life support for the next while.
Well I went for my walk in the gloaming yesterday and didn’t have the problem of meeting too many people so might respect that this evening.
I’m having a frantic tidy up and food prep for the freezer as I plan to be glued to the Australian Open next week and also finish knitting a complicated sweater. I am disappointed that Andy Murray will not be there.
marydoll. sending up a few prayers for your friend’s granddaughter.
I so admire how stoic many of you are with health worries. I grumble about mine all the time. I’m surprised Alexa hasn’t told me to count my blessings! Have the best day you can.

readalot Fri 05-Feb-21 11:17:12

Good morning everyone from Co Durham. A damp miserable day here. I don't post much as I can never see my posts when I look back on the site. I don't know whether I am doing it right or not. I'm pleased to see that you're back Mick. Take things easy.

LadyO Fri 05-Feb-21 11:09:05

Another occasional poster here, wanting to add my good wishes to Mick, pleased to see you back. Impressed at everyone’s commitment to the thread so early in the morning, sometimes I don’t read it till later and feel it’s too late to join in with a Good Morning thread!
Also Urms I have jumped on the SOAP recipe bandwagon and made it for dinner last night - that’s a YES from me! Something else to add to the culinary repertoire. Years ago Gransnet put up a Supper Inspiration section with slow-roast salmon risotto recipe sent in by a GN poster, which has become a real favourite here.
Sunny day here in South Bucks - we have a booked walking slot at NT Cliveden for tomorrow, will probably cloudy by then, but I love it even if it’s pouring down and it’s easy to be socially-distanced there. NanKate we may have passed each other as I remember you’ve mentioned Cliveden several times recently.
Have a good day everyone!

Niochorio Fri 05-Feb-21 11:04:10

Good morning all and a welcome back to Mick. So sorry to hear that you have been unwell and hope that you are on the road to recovery soon. I too am a new poster having lurked and enjoyed this lovely thread for some time. The sun keeps peeping out every now and again in my corner of North Wales and some lovely glimpses of blue sky also. Today is shopping day so I am currently drinking a paned and psyching myself up for the trip. More home schooling today and then a relaxing evening on the sofa with my tapestry. Not too sure whether to binge watch the rest of The Bay, Marcella or catch up with last series of Unforgotten which I missed. Hope you have a good day one and all.
