Good Morning to you all from dry, cold & windy Cambs.,
No snow this far over, looking at the weather forecast, it seems that Essex, Suffolk & Norfolk will get it. (that means our little "home-from-home" on the NW Norfolk coast will get a pasting). let me know, all you lovely people there, I miss news from Nfkd & other good folk from the area.

Mick, do look after yourself, Marydoll & the rest of us have your welfare at heart.

Take Care Folk.

Urmstongran Sun 07-Feb-21 10:23:58

I will p.m. you (or anyone else interested) with my SOAP dish Niochorio. It’s very simple to ‘assemble’ it’s not even fair to call it a recipe! It stands for Sage Onion Apple and Pork.

Good morning to Mick and all, and a big hug of understanding for Marydoll. It's trying its hardest to snow on the Angus coast, but hasn't managed anything meaningful as yet. As I don't intend going anywhere at all this week it's just an academic interest of course - although it would be a change of scene!
Lovely to hear that Nelly and Dumpy Bag (what an intriguing name!!) have bonded. It was so heart-breaking to think of Nelly seeking her calf. I hope the last five arrive without drama and you can take a deep breath and relax. Happy Birthday to your DGD - such a shame you can't be with her.
I'm with you Elan, my dashing days are few and far between just now - although I hazard a guess that a warm sunny day or two will see them return. We had one day (Monday 25th January to be exact, and I've no idea why I remember that!) when the wind died down and the sun shone and I suddenly felt a million dollars. I just have to trust that that will happen again!
Nothing to report from the blacksmith's cottage so I shall depart. Sending love and hope to those unwell or despondent. ??

EllanVannin Sun 07-Feb-21 10:22:38

Honestly Mary, you're a caution----hilarious. It's as clear as mud grin You'll have to wean yourself off them. Try the Bollywood films instead.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 07-Feb-21 10:21:06

Good Morning all from slightly white Harrogate (we did have a bit of a flurry).
So glad "sheepandcattle" that your little drama has ended well.
Marydoll you seem brighter this morning? I take that back having heard your 2nd rant!!! The vaccines go purely by age! I fully expected to have mine with DH who is 80. My concession was having it locally instead of having to travel 18 miles!!
This am I will have to make a load of pastry to freeze, probably do it while listening and watching the church service (if only they knew!!). Sadly our minister has retired so will will have someone new to stand in.

This pm, will try to do some catchup on TV - depends on the signal we get! Watched "The drowning" it was so good, can recommend anyone to watch it on catch-up!
If that fails, will probably finish a painting!

Grandmafrench Sun 07-Feb-21 10:19:01

Niochorio (Newhouse?). You can ask Urmstongran for her delicious recipe, or if not PM me as I’ve made it - and it’s not only delicious, it’s also very simple to do. Wonderful in these times where we’re all so short of time! ? Enjoy your walk.

Mary what an original storyline....who’d have thought? x

Jaxjacky Sun 07-Feb-21 10:18:45

Happy Birthday MrJans have a spoilt day ???. Marydoll no wonder you have restless nights, how obscure, if I had a vaccine date I would transfer it to you, so dispiriting.
Grandmafrench Chase the vaccination slot seems a daily challenge for our friends in France too, a couple grasped this holy grail only to have it cancelled the day before, hopefully it’ll improve.

Morning from S Lanarkshire, very still but slight attempts at snowing going on. I do hope it comes to nothing.
I got organised early this morning and got to my local supermarket just after 8.30, only a few other intrepid shoppers and I managed to get a decent top up shop although I’ve just remembered I didn’t get custard which I have developed a strange longing for!
My weekly trip to mass in Ireland soon and then a good read of our U3A zoom book club choice. It’s a strange book but I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would, Warlight by Michael Ondaatche.
I was feeling sad for Nancy too Sheepandcattle, glad things have sorted themselves out!
Wishing everyone the best Sunday possible.

???????????7️⃣0️⃣? MrJans
Have a lovely Birthday!

Marydoll Sun 07-Feb-21 10:09:25

EV, I watch them when I can't sleep. I came across them by accident.

Let's set the scene.
BIG Boss
New, stunning, PA
BIG Boss secretly in love with PA
PA secretly in love with BIG Boss
Business dinner
PA has accident, spills wine or something on clothes
BIG Boss lives in penthouse appartment
BIG Boss takes PA to appartment, which is conveniently close at hand, to clean up.
Too late to go home, PA sleeps in spare room.
BIG boss in his own room, full of more angst
Misunderstanding
Disagreement
PA leaves
Big Boss can't tell her how he feels
Angst all round
Tension in office
PA leaves and runs away (they always run away to escape the situation) to London
BIG Boss finds out where she is and goes to London to look for her
BIG Boss eventually reveals feelings
Happy ending.

Simple really!

EllanVannin Sun 07-Feb-21 10:07:54

Mick this cold snap isn't good for " hearty " people. Some takeaways will deliver to save you venturing out and also if you contact your surgery, repeat prescriptions can be arranged with your local pharmacy to deliver.
Perhaps a grocery delivery too to save going out ?
As Mary said, it's to protect yourself as well as others especially now that you're maskless.

Good morning one and all from a chilly North Wales where my phone tells me that although the temperature is 2 degrees, the wind chill makes it a bracing -3 degrees so I will have to wrap up well when I go for my walk later. Roast pork with lots of veggies, stuffing and Yorkshire puddings cooked for me by my lovely husband will be thoroughly enjoyed later on. Can anyone tell me where I can find the infamous SOAP recipe everyone is talking about?
As for the rest of today’s activities they will probably involve making some scones, some reading, washing and later this evening some more work on my tapestry while I watch tv. I am now also inspired to knit some wrist warmers for the wonderful mental health charity set up by the lovely Dr Alex and his family. They are rather short on supplies at the moment and I have lots of wool in my stash. These terrible times are affecting the mental health of all ages at the moment.
Sending virtual hugs and ?? to all who are sad and suffering today and the hope that tomorrow will be a better day.

NannyJan53 Sun 07-Feb-21 10:03:58

Good morning from a cold Black Country

It is MrJans 70th today, so have been busy opening cards, presents and phone calls. Sad we cannot celebrate as planned but cooking lovely 3 course meal tonight, with ingredients from a restaurant in Bristol his DD's had organised.

Will read all your posts later

Wishing you all a good day

Grandmafrench Sun 07-Feb-21 10:00:18

Good Morning everyone from the sunny (arriving after lunch) South of ??, where I’m getting really fed up with chasing-the-vaccine! This is an on-line game which involves large numbers of people logging in to grab maybe 1 slot amongst perhaps 30 vaccination centres and spread across many kilometers. The one slot that disappears as soon as you press ‘accept’ because you’re just not quick enough on the draw! Ah well....if it turns out as successful as making an appointment online to present my post-Brexit papers at the Préfecture, I can expect to play this vaccine game for at least 6 months before any success. So pleased for you all getting yours in the UK where there is vaccine!

We’re having a Beef Bourgignonne today with tray-baked veg. Shall I make a cheesecake? Why not.

Sad to hear about posters who are struggling, unwell, worried or just completely miffed at the same old, same old. Spring (after the snow) will be here and the sunbeams will creep through the curtains and show up all the dust! Little buds will appear in the garden and little green shoots of happiness will suddenly appear in our lives again. We HAVE to believe that. Life just keeps happening, ready or not.....just look at sheep’ s darling calves. Well done, Nancy - and you, sheep.

Hope everyone has a relaxed Sunday - just go with the flow and re-charge. Stay safe and warm and please be well. And Mick - behave, please. Heed the gypsy’s warning (that’s not Marydoll) - no going out unnecesssrily, you’re not Superman and you should allow yourself time to recover.

See you tomorrow, lovely GM’ers. ?‍♀️??

EllanVannin Sun 07-Feb-21 09:55:43

Hahahahaha Marydoll, what on earth are you doing watching Chinese video's ?--that made me laugh. No wonder you couldn't sleep. What are you like ? grin

Gelisajams Sun 07-Feb-21 09:50:09

Good morning from Morecambe Bay. I’ve just been exercising, weights day today, and as I opened the blinds a couple of snowflakes fluttered down.
A proper read of posts, zoom church, a FaceTime with DS2 and family then I will work on my collage while DH watches football.
Yesterday we planned the year of ‘Campa’ trips. It’s good to dream!
Take care, stay safe everyone ?

BlueSapphire Sun 07-Feb-21 09:48:44

Good morning everyone from a chilly feeling Northampton. Have just popped out to the garage to get something out of the freezer and it is definitely cold!

Mixed results on yesterday's rugby, England lost, but mure importantly Northampton Saints won! I did manage to find it on TV, thanks to the kind GNetter who pm'd me.

Much of the same today, reading, crosswords, knitting.

The picture is of my next knitting project; I was very taken with the design, and am looking forward to starting it.

Take care everyone and have a pleasant Sunday.

Alygran Sun 07-Feb-21 09:37:44

Marydoll I’m keeping my fingers crossed you hear soon. You should not have been kept waiting this long. flowers

Sparklefizz Sun 07-Feb-21 09:36:55

flowers flowers flowers and a hug for Marydoll. I'm sorry you're feeling so low.

Alygran Sun 07-Feb-21 09:31:47

Good morning from North Yorkshire where it is cold and windy. I think we are going to escape the snow this time.
Nothing on the agenda today just the usual reading, knitting and may be a walk.
Thinking of all those who are not well or supporting poorly partners.
Good to hear that the vaccinations are being offered to younger age groups in some places. They have just started the 70-75 group here judging by letters friends have received. I have a bit of a wait yet.
Hope everyone has a good day. Stay safe.

Marydoll Sun 07-Feb-21 09:31:30

Pitcity, thank you. I thought long and hard before posting.

Muse, thank you for asking, but no vaccine, despite umpteen texts from the Govt shielding folk that I will be getting it by the end of next week. They are leaving it a bit late to tell me.
What has upset me is that my healthy friends, living beside me with no underlying conditions and in their sixties, have already been vaccinated and keep talking in our group chat about how wonderful it is for them all. They don't mean to be insensitive, but they are. They are just relieved it's done.

Of course I don't grudge it and I'm delighted for them. However, two vulnerable, elderly friends in their late seventies, who live near me, haven't been vaccinated yet. It is an absolute shambles here.

I feel after the consistent neglect by my GP surgery all through my shielding and now this, I have been abandoned. I'm just not worth bothering about and a drain on the NHS.!

Of course I know I am being petty, ridiculous and unreasonable, when others have so much more to deal with than me.

GrannySomerset Sun 07-Feb-21 09:29:45

Grey skies and very cold but forecast suggests it won’t snow, for which I am thankful. Nothing planned but a half shoulder of lamb this evening to look forward to. Energy levels low so need to motivate myself before I become completely inert. At least I am not alone in that.

B9exchange Sun 07-Feb-21 09:27:03

Hi from an overcast Hertfordshire where it has just started snowing, I can almost hear the grandchildren squealing!

SheepandCattle what lovely news, only five to go now, then you can breathe again. Urms, is there room for another for your Sunday lunch? grin

We have the option of an 8 am service in person, or a virtual one at 10.00 am, and as we are not like you early risers, the virtual one it is! Corn fed chicken legs with cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes for lunch, haven't though about a pudding yet.

I am working on a blanket for the new arrival in April, using a different knitting stitch for each square but all in the same colour wool, so will continue with that. Also need to put the backing mesh on the mosaic tiles for behind the shower in the bathroom, now that the leak has dried out. Hopefully that will keep me out of mischief for a bit! Have a good Sunday everyone, and wishing those with worries an easier day.

Mapleleaf Sun 07-Feb-21 09:26:21

Good morning all,

Well after snow flurries last night, I was expecting to see settled snow this morning but so far it's clear, thank goodness, but the odd flurry comes along. It looks very cold and breezy out there.

I second all that Marydoll says, Mick. You really do need to be extra careful and also consider the safety of others.

So pleased to hear that the calf has been accepted by the cow, sheepandcattle. So lovely to have a happy outcome.

Those of you who have posted your lunch menu for today have my mouth watering - they all sound delicious. I'm going to prepare a lamb tagine for us today.

My fridge/freezer was playing up yesterday, going into quick freeze mode all by itself on and off all day. There's no way of getting into the panel to have a look, either. I'm hoping it has settled down, otherwise it might mean a new fridge/freezer, and, typically, all the new ones are too tall for the hole the existing one slots into when we've been looking. It must be no taller than 175 cm. We really need to go out and look, but of course, nowhere is open yet.

I'm really baffled by no shows for the vaccine. The very least people could do is ring to cancel so someone else can be invited if they don't want it. What an unnecessary waste. Still, some people are the same with appointments at the surgery. The number of no shows is scandalous, really. (They can't all have forgotten their appointment). What's wrong with some people?

Not a lot planned for today. Will do my few chores then probably read or scan the tv to see if there's a decent film to watch.

Take care everyone and ? for all who feel unwell, sad or anxious today.

Beauregard Sun 07-Feb-21 09:24:03

Good morning all from a dry Derbyshire. The snow forecast overnight never materialised, but some is forecast for this afternoon, so we'll see.

The sporting events didn't go as well as hoped yesterday - two seconds. More racing on tv this afternoon, then a visit to the girls ? later.

I'll cook a gammon joint in the slow cooker for dinner and to eat cold for several days.

I'm so glad to hear that Nancy and Dumpy Bag have bonded Sheepandcattle. The thought of poor Nancy looking for her calf was so sad.

I hope everyone has a good day today.
