Good Morning Everyone,
Up early as usual here in Brackley , its looking frosty outside , with weather changes latera swell for us.
Today , apart from TV and eating may attempt another shop, I received my exempt face mask card from my surgery yesterday , have yet to use in the outside world such as a supermarket .
Take Care,
Mick

*grandMattie” not a sin, but a treat to be kept for the evening!
It was a sin for my late DH who would look witheringly at anyone not doing something useful during the day. TV only allowed in the day for royal weddings or (for him) a special sport event.
To be frank, I do find something depressing about a TV on in the daytime.

Urmstongran Sun 07-Feb-21 17:47:32

Greyduster I’ve just seen your photo. It’s beautiful. I can sense the peacefulness that snow brought to your road last night. I love how snow muffles sound.

Marydoll Sun 07-Feb-21 15:15:03

Borrheid, I have spoken to someone on the vaccine helpline.

Despite what the Govt promised, some of the vaccine appointments for shielders have even been organised yet! I was trying to work around hospital appointments ove rteh next two weeks.

Sorry for my rant earlier.

Niochorio Sun 07-Feb-21 14:36:08

Good Afternoon Grandmafrench, Nio Chorio is Greek for new village, goodness knows why as it has been there for a long time and it is where we have our other home in Crete. My walk was lovely, bitterly cold but very refreshing.
Urmstongran, thank you so much for the SOAP recipe, it sounds delicious and will certainly be on the agenda for next week.
Mick, I would like to add a plea too that you consider a visor. My brother in law is exempt from a mask as he has heart problems and COPD, but we do worry about him going out without a mask and a visor is a sensible compromise we think.
The Drowning sounds interesting Gwenisgreat, which channel is it on please?
Well, I must go off and do some more jobs now. Hope you all enjoy your planned activities.

Borrheid55 Sun 07-Feb-21 13:36:55

Marydoll please phone your GP and ask why you’ve been left waiting. Maybe they think the hospital is taking care of your vaccine. I was a Practice Manager for 10 years (before I became a management trainer for 25) and took pride in looking after our patients. I would have been horrified if a vulnerable person was left worrying for want of a phone call!

The snow has arrived in Kent. Had about 2inches so far but they are saying that it’s here until Wednesday! I hate snow!!!
Quiet day planned after the excitement of the rugby yesterday. What a great Calcutta cup match.
DH is cooking later - his signature stir fry.
Stay safe all, good health to those feeling under the weather.

grandMattie Sun 07-Feb-21 12:40:20

Why can’t you watch tv in the daytime, holly? Sinful? ?

Beauregard Sun 07-Feb-21 12:35:59

Happy 70th birthday MrJans ???????

hollysteers Sun 07-Feb-21 11:53:35

Good morning Mick and all from a chilly northwest coast, but no snow forecast for us.
Felt tired and slight strange yesterday after my jab on Friday but nothing to write home about and it’s worth it. A good excuse to cosy up by the fireside with iPad and book (can’t watch tv in the daytime) vivid dreams full of friends last night which reminded me of the time I had a very full life before this blinking pandemic.
There are practical jobs waiting, but I shall do some artwork and add collage into the mix.
I had a brandy last night as thought a drop of alcohol might help my high blood pressure but found it made me irritable and I turned into a bit of a keyboard warrior, getting involved on a music thread.
Thoughts to Georgesgran and anyone worried ?

Kalu Sun 07-Feb-21 11:39:07

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow but thankfully dry which means we can get outside. ?

Hopefully your promised blue envelope does arrive this week Marydoll ?

Best wishes for a good day all.

Annapops Sun 07-Feb-21 11:36:04

Megs36 please do unload. You have been and are still going through such a dreadful time which is sure to get you down. I do hope before the end of the year you and many like you can be closer physically to your family. Your post was certainly not boring. Sending a hug and some thanks.

cornergran Sun 07-Feb-21 11:33:12

Agree grandMartie, it’s often hard to know the day so don’t worry about that megs, I’m sure your head has been full of health worries too. I’m sorry you’ve both had such a difficult year, offload here whenever it helps. flowers for you and all with health pressures. .

Marydoll Sun 07-Feb-21 11:32:24

I had that in hospital. Who was my carer etc? They stopped half way through the questioning, when they realised I had all my marbles! I actually said not to ask me what day it was. I hadn't a clue, as I had been practically nowhere for a year. ?

grandMattie Sun 07-Feb-21 11:25:51

Megs, I hardly remember what day of the week it is. WHen retired, unless it's a particular day like, say, Sunday everyday is the same. More so since lockdown when the regular events that pepper the week have all been cancelled.

I always feel it is grossly unfair to ask people who are suspected to have dementia to aks the following questions {I shall try to learn them by heart when my turn comes] - what day is it today, what is the date, who is PM? [as if that impacted on day to day life?] and various other idiotic questions...

Megs36 Sun 07-Feb-21 11:15:49

Good morning all, I wonder how many like me can never remember what day it is ?? I read the posts most days but only very occasionally post myself, anyway I’ve just noticed the date which made me think. Two years ago this week I had a stroke, MCA, and recovered alright except my sight was affected, andmy confidence, so couldn’t drive any more, this proved a problem on and off for months for both of us because a few weeks later my husband had a pneumothorax followed by pleurodesis. He hasCOPD following treatment a few years earlier for lung cancer, so worrying to put it mildly, took a while to recover so dependent on friends and family, not near. Then came a week in hospital with pneumonia at the beginning of the pandemic, he of course has been shielded now for most of a year. As we came in the early batch of vaccinations because of our age , we are now approaching a time when we feel we can actually speak to people outside the door ! but not seen son since Christmas Eve ,thank heavens for.WhatsApp .and online deliveries. I wonder if I’ll ever have the confidence to go in a shop again?.
Sorry for boring post but felt the need to unload, if just to strangers. Thanks for listening /reading. I know I’m not alone with so many problems and also disappointments in the last year , let’s hope the New Normal is coming soon!!!!!

Dwmxwg Sun 07-Feb-21 11:14:55

Marydoll sounds like Chinese Mills & Boon ?

cornergran Sun 07-Feb-21 11:07:20

A very late good morning from a sunny corner of Somerset. It seems I slept for 11 hours - how did I do that? Unheard of. The Butler is off to bring me some breakfast I do know how lucky I am. I think a walk will be called for then a bit of tidying, it’s apparently very cold outside, dormouse here has no idea yet. A very happy birthday to mr jans. Your lack of vaccination is a scandal marydoll , I’d like to add my voice to your plea to mick, please try a visor, not perfect but safer than nothing at all. Take care everyone.

Anniebach Sun 07-Feb-21 11:05:48

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

CherryCezzy Sun 07-Feb-21 11:05:30

Good morning all. There's a lovely blue sky with big fluffy white clouds in the Gower today. It's a chilly 4°c, feels like 0°c, but the birds are enjoying themselves.

I haven't really read anyone's posts properly yet, I had those dratted ? seizures in the night ? . I fell out of bed again ? and goodness knows why but in my postictal confused state frantically unplugged the bedside lamp and clock. In my confusion I feared getting tangled up in the leads I think ?. Then I got back into bed only to discover my duvet was actually on the floor confused. One of these days I'll set up a video camera so I can record and play these antics back ?

Happy birthday to your 3 year old DGC Sheepandcattle ? and to your DH NannyJan ???

Take care one and all, stay safe ❤️

Annapops Sun 07-Feb-21 10:56:21

Good morning from a freezing cold County Durham where very fine snow is presently falling. It's so dull and grey out there that I have mixed feelings about venturing out for a walk later today.

Beef in the slow cooker for later, a little washing and bed linen change then I shall sit and pick up my knitting needles once more. I am in the process of knitting bobbles with fur wool, something completely new to me.

Yesterday we took a very short drive in the new car which has been standing in the drive all week. Off we want to our local botanical gardens which we heard had reopened after a year of closure, only to discover they are open weekdays only. However, our journey wasn't wasted, after a lot of faff we did manage to get the Bluetooth working and phone connected so we now have music to drive to.

Thinking of Georgesgran and others who have troubles and worries and I do hope you receive your vaccine soon Marydoll.

Try to have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyOwl5 Sun 07-Feb-21 10:41:29

Morning everyone from north Kent where it is snowing; not the big fat fluffy flakes, but those grain-like flakes. Still, it’s settling so expect the sledges and tea trays will appear later!

Happy 70th birthday MrJans! ??????. Hope you have a great day.

Love the film synopsis Marydoll I was breathless with anticipation whilst reading it! No wonder you have difficulties getting to sleep after watching them.

Lots of lovely meals being prepared for today. Not sure what I’m having as DH is chief cook and he likes the meal to be a surprise - in a good way I hasten to add!

Hope those with illnesses and worries have as good a day as possible. A day to be staying in the warm. Stay safe

Marydoll Sun 07-Feb-21 10:40:36

Gwen, I an extremely clinically vulnerable and am in the same group as the over seventies. I was promised by my clinician, that I should have had it by now.
For some reason they have now moved onto the 60yr olds in our area, without vaccinating all the over 70s. My DH has had it. There appears to be no plan in place. That's why I am annoyed and demoralised.

Greyduster Sun 07-Feb-21 10:32:43

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. I think this is the latest I have ever come onto this thread! An up and down sort of night so DH left me to sleep. It’s freezing here in South Yorkshire but all the snow we had coming down in huge flakes last night about ten o’clock had all gone by about two and hasn’t returned - yet! It was very pretty but I don’t want it back!
Sheepandcattle glad the cow and calf have bonded. Do you have to hand it back when it’s weaned?
Happy birthday to MrJan?. Nothing much going on here today. Pork chops for lunch. Take care everyone.

Beechnut Sun 07-Feb-21 10:31:13

Wishing MrJan a Happy 70th Birthday ??

Grandmabatty Sun 07-Feb-21 10:29:06

So the Tesco delivery I was expecting isn't actually due til 21st February. Oops. A quick trip to Aldi after all. The chicken is roasting and the leek soup is bubbling. What a numpty.

EllanVannin Sun 07-Feb-21 10:28:48

A Very Happy 70th Birthday to MrJans winewine and more wine. Enjoy the day both of you. xx
