Illegal migrants’ amnesty vaccine.

I doubt all the illegal immigrants will get the vaccine.

What concerns me is that they're probably working cash in hand, how much tax are we missing out on?

From the virus point of view, if they don't get the vaccine how will that impact on herd immunity?

The amnesty is a good idea. I’m just not certain people will trust the government not to scrutinise the necessary data.

Would it work if perhaps undocumented people attended a hub on a ‘drop in’ basis for their jab? Even one shot giving a decent level of immunity would be preferable to no jab at all.

I agree with you PippaZ. It’s time the government got to grips with this situation. A pandemic is scary enough without an added layer of concern regarding people who are, at present, not even being offered a vaccination.

They are human beings and by having the vaccine it will protect the general population anyway which is what we are trying to achieve aren't we?

I find it sad people can't see past their own life. It petrifies me that whole families are stuck in places like Yarl's Wood (and presumably it would be best to vaccinate inside a 'facility') what on earth happens in there

So what are your thoughts on an amnesty then? It would mean we did know where many of the people are and they could be protected. I might also mean the criminals involved could be brought to justice.

I didn't report anyone as you seem to infer Firecracker - mine being the only other post you could be refering to - but I will if you continue. That is what we are told to do when people are picking a fight.

This is far from adult behaviour and I think I have better things to do.

It IS an important topic to discuss.
I can’t imagine any other country having a relatively high percentage of their population ensconced in the country illegally. The fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic with vaccinations being the only way out, makes it an even more important problem.

But no, don’t let’s discuss what can be done. Let’s pussyfoot around discussing which term is permitted which describes their illegal presence here shall we?

I think I will have said they are illegal. Not the same. As in ‘they are illegal being here’.

I’m off to check with GNHQ whether or not I used the derogatory term ‘illegals’ now because I really do not think I lied sw. I do try to be respectful at all times as you well know. I don’t get riled (I’m a calm person) and I never use derogatory terms. I will report this, my own post - for clarification.

I’m convinced I’d have said illegal immigrants. In future I shall start saying ‘undocumented migrants’.

I’ll get back to you as soon as I have had the reply from the Mods. If I have been disrespectful I shall apologise sincerely.

Firecracker but that scenario is exactly what the vaccine is designed to protect me against. And, I am very happy about having it!!!!

Anyway, as has been said, many of those are way below the age groups of being entitled to get vaccinated. Just a back door way of the government trying to get information and start deportations. As, for many of them, being returned to their places of birth could well be a death sentence, think they will probably feel that covid is the lesser of the two evils.



They (illegal migrants) might well think that Covid might be the lesser of two evils and not have the vaccine but it could be a death sentence for you or an elderly person who unfortunately comes into contact with them.
