Princess Anne’s sitting room

Omg I can’t believe how scruffy and old fashioned her room is with all her money surely she could update it a little, it looks like a little old ladies house but maybe that’s a little unfair to old ladies.
I wouldn’t want to be her cleaner trying to dust all that clutter, I wonder does her mother take tea in that room.

I’m not surprised, I like Princess Anne she’s the most down to earth of all the royals, while it wouldn’t be my choice, as much to dark for me, she looks happy enough sitting next to her husband, and I’m sure she can cosy up with her dogs, she doesn’t give a stuff and I love that attitude, good on her

It looks just like a home to me, they come in all shapes and sizes. I met her once when I was helping at Riding for the Disabled, one of her favourite charities. She was really good with the children without talking down to them. I like her.

It is much as I would expect. Princess Anne doesn't strike me as the sort of person who has to have the latest thing.

I imagine that Princess Anne has another sitting room. The one shown looked like the place she goes to relax.

Looks surprisingly "normal". I'd have expected something much more fancy. She has actually just gone up a notch in my estimation!

To be fair, she would have been criticised by some, whatever the room looked like! Presumably it's as she likes it, and she's the one who has to sit and look at it! If it had been all Ikea she would have been criticised too!!

How lovely for the Princess Royal and her husband to have a room in which they can relax with their dogs, without the pomp and ceremony of their Royal duties.

Not having to worry if she has hay/straw or worse in her hair or on her clothes.

Gosh, someone who works for the daily mail was bored over the weekend. Woman on cushion involved in big bird watch in between watching rugby on flatscreen tv

She is the most down to earth royal,so i`m not surprised at all.

I would say that room is Anne and her husband's snug.

A room where humans and dogs are allowed to chill.
No worries re muddy boots or paws.

Bet the cleaners are only allowed a quick sweep, move a book or paper on the peril of death !

It's horrible and looks like my grannies and princess Anne is only 3 years older than me. It doesn't look at all homely to me, just untidy and unkempt. Clearly housework is low on her list of priorities.

It looks ok to me - lived in. Certainly not a show home room.
Isn’t it a good thing that we all like different things? How boring it would be if we all lived in identical style.
I prefer that look to minimalist, but there, that’s me - others adore minimalism. I prefer things to be put away if I’ve finished using them, but otherwise I’d say my sitting room is of a similar style (except no floral suite).

Gosh - now that is what I call drab.

Imagine the uproar from the Anti brigade if everything had been brand spanking new, bling, hi tech, etc a la Grand Designs!

I liked this photo and think it reflects Princess Anne's character, down to earth and not posh. It's just a comfortable sitting room, a bit untidy, much like mine really.

It looks normal to me too, perhaps a bit more cluttered and old-fashioned than mine; I must get my bird book out (we have the same one) and put it on the table.

My first thought was - I bet she doesn't do her own dusting, too much stuff to move.

Princess Anne just couldn’t care less what anyone thinks, and good on her. She hasn’t even bothered taking her seat cushion out of shot, hence all the comments speculating as to whether she has piles.

Suits her, what I would expect. I like princess Anne, very normal woman with the right attitude and she’s my age!

If anyone thinks this room is squalid they'd get a surprise if they were invited into my house...It looks comfy.

I’m sure that a huge house with 700 acres of land would boast more than one ‘Sitting room’ this is more like a snug.
Although if Princess Anne is as frugal as we are led to believe, maybe she has closed up the rest of the house and lives in a one bed apartment ?
The rest of the house left covered in dust sheets with the heating off and one old retainer doing the cleaning with a mop and bucket!

Maybe it was a set up to show how ‘normal ‘ she is.

Looks just right for Princess Anne. I would have been more surprised to see pink, fluffy cushions and loads of bling.

It looks like a comfortable, slightly worn sitting room in a house owned by traditionalist country folk in their 70’s. People who have family photographs and love dogs and horses.
I’ve never met Anne but I’ve enjoyed the way she accepts she’s the Princess Royal and gets on living the best life she can. No titles and lots of dogs and ponies for her children. Good for her.
