H spent years at boarding school and holidays up in Scotland, then 10 years in the army, maybe he was just avoiding the family?
If you had one who paid for your wedding ?
Some news about our H o S
RF family want their 1969 documentary to be taken off air. The Queen was talking in it about a governor that looked like a gorilla, in one little clip, of docu seen on twitter.
Queen doesn't want her various shares and their values in companies made public too embarrassing. And lobbied in the 70s to be made exempt from new law. She has millions in off shore accounts.
P Charles land owner lobbied to be exempt from new leaseholder legislation that would have allowed homeowners to buy the land their property sits on.
And when people from the Duchy die with no living relatives P Charles gets the money, with other landowners around the country money goes to the treasury
Then there is Andrew
The 20,000 Sandringham Estate gets millions in subsidies
Queen gets her Wendy house refurbished to her own specifications including a new thatched roof.
Meanwhile in other news a little boy stole a tin of soup because he was so hungry, never mind.

I think that was what I was getting at callistemom when I talked about whether those who like/love/respect (whatever you want to call it) the royal family actually do. The respect seems to come with a very very strict code of what is expected and if they move away from that code well God help them. The code seems to involve, staying quiet, keeping your head down, and never referring to any personal emotion. I have watched lots of TV broadcasters saying how wonderful it was that the Queen carried out an engagement whilst her husband is presumably quite seriously ill. I just dont know. That is not what I would ask from my friends, or the people I have managed. Now maybe that's her way of dealing with worry, and if so great. But if it's an expectation. I suppose I wonder if the expectations of the royal family are not in themselves healthy or kind.

To be fair I blame Hugh Bonneville for most of it.
What’s he done?
I assume you’re making a joke, but I’m missing it lol
They have a choice, Duke of Windsor chose to walk away .
Margaret could have married Townsend but didn’t want to give up all that went with it,

Smileless one wonders why he didn’t leave with Chelsea or
Cressida, he was in love with Chelsea.
Annibach I made this point about Chelsea Davy, I think on the last M&H thread. Harry and Chelsea were together for over 6 years, he appeared to love her. She wouldn't marry him, and they ended the relationship because she knew the royal life wasn't for her.
anniebach I’m sure, to him, having a wife and child to protect were finally reasons he could use as valid enough to leave.
But that strictly a guess on my part
I like having a benign Monarchial system but then I look at Prince George and think, poor little lad, he doesn't realise yet what's ahead.
So my view is a selfish one and perhaps a Republic would be better after all.

But calling Phil the Greek is wrong as well. I dont know that there is any one on here who has said otherwise. That doesnt mean that Meghan didnt experience racism.
Someone on one of the posts did call him that.
It was rightly called out.
But I agree, one has nothing to do with the other
Don't we all Galaxy bloody Duke of Grantchester, or Grantham, or Grantley or whoever he is. Fairly sure Maggie Smith is in on it too!
Alegrias1, & Smileless2012, good points & posts .
Callistemon I can't imagine being born into a worse situation tbh and can totally understand the desire to escape. Like you I'm not sure this is 'it' as an escape plan.
I can't help thinking that in a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario that they'd have been better off staying in the fold and letting the machine that is the RF help them bear the onslaught. I don't think they are going to be able to keep control of their image and reception at all.
To be fair I blame Hugh Bonneville for most of it.
Thanks all - this intrigue has a cast of thousands!
He had already said that no-one in the Royal Family wants to be King or Queen but they would carry out the duties required of them.
It must be daunting to have your life mapped out for you, not something you would choose yourself but pre-destined.
I don't think Harry is allowing Meghan to take the blame, at least not intentionally.
They probably worked out an alternative way together but it's not working out according to plan, is it.
Smileless one wonders why he didn’t leave with Chelsea or
Cressida, he was in love with Chelsea.
Tiggy was employed after the divorce to look after the boys when they were at Highrove, they also holidayed at Tiggy’s family home, I saw them with her .
Harry is Godmother to one of her children and she was at the
Christening of Archie.
She spent a lot of time with W and H in a 'nanny role' but I don't know if she was officially employed in that role Nell.
I find that rather disturbing Annie and Callistemon as it could give rise to speculation that H is using M to escape the RF and allowing her to take the blame. If he's wanted 'out' for years, why didn't he in his own words take a step back years ago?
Now if that is one of Oprah's questions I might be tempted watch the interview
.
Tiggy Legge-Bourke, the children's nanny, NellG
Poor Diana, she needed a lot more help with her MH than she probably received. Much of this was probably in her imagination.
Callistemon what you say makes a lot of sense, but if true is even more concerning from the point of view of their happiness.
I know this is the route to my own insanity and I shouldn't ask, but who the heck is Tiggy???? and is she remotely relevant to anything?
Sorry Annie but you've lost me this time.
Well TBF Bridgeit and this is coming from memory so I may not be entirely correct but I seem to remember that when RF when to church at Balmoral, the first Sunday following Diana's death, the Queen was asked if she wanted specific mention of Diana's death during the prayers of intercession and she declined.
She made a public statement on the death of Mother Theresa who died just after Diana, having made no such statement on Diana's death.
There were things that weren't done because it wasn't protocol for example the flag being flown at half mast at Buckingham Palace. That said, despite the out cry that this wasn't being done, it was some time before permission was given.
Then there's the funeral. Again another unprecedented situation for the RF to face but it was pressure from TB as a response to public opinion that this would be as close to a state funeral as possible, without actually being one.
The Queen Mother's funeral plans formed the blue print for this as nothing else was available.
It is reasonable to say the Queen ignored Diana's death? IMO no but it is reasonable to say that she seriously mis judged 'her people' when it came to acknowledging it, which for a time she seemed very reluctant to do. Hoping perhaps that the funeral would be a quiet Spencer family affair and maybe too that she wouldn't have too make a statement about her former d.i.l. and mother to two of her GC.
If that was the case she was extremely niave bearing in mind that once the engagement was announced she became the most photographed woman in the world and rightly or wrongly, one of the most famous and talked about members of the RF.
Anniebach
Then he didn’t leave to protect his wife, he left because he has wanted out of his family and the uk for many years ?
That's what I have always thought.
Meghan is Harry's escape route.
He would have probably stayed and done his duty, carried out the responsibilities required of him had he not met Meghan - but he may never have been happy.
Why should he be forced to carry out a role and become more miserable just because he was born into the Royal Family?
Had Meghan taken to Royal life enthusiastically they could have made an excellent and popular team but it wasn't to be.

NellG I haven't seen a thread like that, I'm not sure how it would go. You could try!
I'll see how brave I'm feeling later! Haha
trisher I agree, it's heartbreaking to imagine. But surely a good therapist would be a better bet than Oprah and the judgment of the public? ( of course, he may have had/be doing therapy).
It's one of the reasons I keep talking about this - the vulnerability H admits regarding his life experiences and his mental health are incongruent with the attention seeking and monetary public appearances. It just doesn't add up.
To remain concerned about H&M's experiences with the press and support their move, yet to also embrace their current public appearances and what they imply just creates too much cognitive dissonance.
Allegedly had an affair through the marriage but with whom?
At the inquest a note emerged written by Diana’s lawyer, Diana feared she and Camilla would be killed to make way for
Charles to marry Tiggy Diana even spoke at a staff party to Tiggy about Tiggy having an abortion, she had been secretly
investigating, the day she claimed Tiggy had the abortion Tiggy was with William and Harry.
