Some news about our H o S
RF family want their 1969 documentary to be taken off air. The Queen was talking in it about a governor that looked like a gorilla, in one little clip, of docu seen on twitter.
Queen doesn't want her various shares and their values in companies made public too embarrassing. And lobbied in the 70s to be made exempt from new law. She has millions in off shore accounts.
P Charles land owner lobbied to be exempt from new leaseholder legislation that would have allowed homeowners to buy the land their property sits on.
And when people from the Duchy die with no living relatives P Charles gets the money, with other landowners around the country money goes to the treasury
Then there is Andrew
The 20,000 Sandringham Estate gets millions in subsidies
Queen gets her Wendy house refurbished to her own specifications including a new thatched roof.
Meanwhile in other news a little boy stole a tin of soup because he was so hungry, never mind.

I like this word. I'm going to use it a lot.
Disingenuous
is it now offensive to refer to dreadlocks?
Only when the person being referred to is a middle aged lady of impeccable character whom the writer is attempting to smear by comparing her with gang members. Obviously the insult is implicit and so even those who don't immediately understand put the person referred to in the same grouping as gangsters. Quite easy then for the disingenuous to say there is no racism.
Whoopi Goldberg has dreadlocks I believe. But then she's not the mother of someone seen as a threat to the Royal Family and British society as a whole.
Alegrias1 sorry it’s so small on my phone and it didn’t have the full article. I am aware that there were racist comments, together with divorcee comments, posted about Meghan but I was particularly looking for the words GagaJo posted.
It’s true that racism exists everywhere, stated plainly or more subtly and I’d never deny it.
However, I don’t read the Daily Fail so “I didn’t see them say that”, ergo, I must definitely be racist!
So the Mail is ‘the press’ , what of all the other newspapers.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there were racist attacks on Twitter, don’t bother with it.
Straight outta Compton is the name of a film about gansta rappers. So yes, LOTS of offensive racial stereotypes there. Understandable that GN members wouldn't have heard of it, but the racist intention of the Daily Heil was unmistakable.
Alegrias1 thank you for the link, I have never heard of Crompton, is it now offensive to refer to dreadlocks? I really don’t know.
Going back to threads at the time of the engagement and marriage I said then I didn’t trust Megan, does this make me a
racist, I didn’t like Fergie either.

Smileless it must be so upsetting, and what about the Spencer family, how do they feel to hear him say their sister had no support?
Earl Spencer clearly knows that Diana was left, vulnerable and alone. It formed part of his speech at her funeral. He made clear he found the royal family to blame.
Wasn't it reported at the time that he refused his sister a place of refuge on his large estate?
I didn’t say they ‘were beyond the pale’, i didn’t bring Charles
Spencer’s speech at the funeral into this.
Thank you. Done. I've started a new thread.
I don't read MN. I certainly don't want to cut anyone out of the discussion, but I would like it to at least start with comments about the manipulation of the camera and setting. (Though of course it will inevitably lead to comments about manipulation by Meghan herself!) Fair enough!

so he criticised her ex in laws, where was he?
You introduced the topic of the Spencers Anniebach. If you think they are beyond the pale, why say it must be upsetting for them?
I posted some about half an hour ago MollyGo
Maybe you could read the thread?
Harry and Meghan, like lots of people, seem to be working on the theory of, “What I tell you three times is true.”
It isn’t necessarily true of course, but if you hear something often enough it sticks in your head.
I’m now off to hunt for evidence of those aforementioned racist comments about M in the British press, unless someone already has it and can save me the time.
Charles Spencer who criticised the royal family , married three times, dumped two wives and when married to first wife
made a speech at a party -
‘My father told me I should stick with Victoria through thick and thin, she was thin and certainly thick ‘.
*GagaJo, so he criticised her ex in laws, where was he ?

Just start a new thread ‘The Oprah Trailer’.
It’ll soon get to 1000 entries.

That discussion is also taking place on Mumsnet Ellianne.
Sadly, I don't think it will be possible. I guess the only way would be on a private forum or on another type of social media where you can limit who is invited into the conversation.

I think Grany started a very good discussion here. I have read it all, but not contributed much.
I fear comments on H & M are now going to take things in a completely different direction which might not be what Grany wants?
Personally I would like to discuss the Oprah trailer, even as a piece of cinema, but it is so difficult to start that thread without criticism. How can it be kept separate?
People who try to deny the racism directed at the Duchess of Sussex need a bit of education in how discrimination works in the modern world. None of the mainstream papers would be daft enough to use directly racist language. Straight Outta Compton is a reference to a 2015 film about gangsta rap. Her mother was referred to as having dreadlocks.
When deniers say "well that isn't racist, I didn't see them say that" they are being complicit, whether knowingly or not.
Nit picking about "well who said that then" does them and their case no good at all. It would be a positive step if they could make an effort to see the world for how it is, and not be so disingenuous.
It must be upsetting for William that his brother keeps bringing up their mother's death and using such a tragic event in both their lives to garner sympathy.
I don't remember ever seeing that either Annie; which newspaper was it Gagajo?.
I don’t love the royal family, that’s silly,
I do actually wonder if royalists actually like and respect the royal family. It seems they only love them if they behave in a certain way, that's not love in my view.
